2:42 shut the fuck up this isn't on the album people want to hear it you just ruined the only new material they've put out since Spiderland that wasn't fucking king's approach fuck you
i wasn't expecting them to be so heavy. They sound more like Isis than Godspeed You! Black Emperor, which is what I was expecting when I heard the words "pioneering post-rock act" attatched to them.
Yeah, I've been dying to learn what effects were used on Tweez. It's one of the best sounding guitar records ever, as far as towers of industrial screeching noise go. The drums also sound good on that album. They sound like industrial-style drum machines, but arent. Great album overall.
definately. albini recorded it, so you can expect the drums to be really good - he's got recording drums and making them really raw and powerful down really well, with microphone placing and stuff. as for the guitars, GREAT stuff. very thick. kind of reminds me of the sound of Songs About Fucking's guitars - another albini deal.
re the stage presence issue - not all bands are performing monkeys. My Bloody Valentine had comments about this during their current tour. and the vocals were mixed too low, apparently.
sorry, point missed. listen to the fucking music! if you want performance go and watch some cock-rockers or Madonna or some similar drivel.
have you noticed that how they stand onstage is how they seem to stand in all their pictures? in every picture of them from the spiderbait sessions theyre all lines up like that. the three in the middle are usually close and the two on either end are always further away.
This is a great band, it amazes me that they can get it this right after all that time. The fact that their songs hold up like this is a testament to the passion that went into creating Spiderland.
I don't get people who don't get this. Just close your eyes and listen to the music. If you have any imagination, you'll get it. Otherwise, if you need a lot of movement on a stage, go see Cats.
Their music has raw tension in it. When you see them live your heart is racing, and your on the edge of your seat the entire time. Them not doing anything just adds to it. You get completely enveloped by them. They are rockstars.
I was at this show and it was the most riveting, electricity-in-the-air kind of show I have ever been to. They didn't need stage presence. This video cannot convey what it felt like to be there. This was their first reunion show and first show period since 1991. The crowd was half absolutely manic-crazy and half hypnotized. It was loud, brutal, emotionally-wrenching and, trust me, no one noticed that they didn't 'move'.
well seriously...who wants to go to a concert for a band where the band doesn't have a lot of energy? They look like they have hangovers. I like the music and all, Its just that they could use a little bit more...umph.
i sppose it's personal choice... i like slint becasue of their music not because they wear a red caps backwards and jump up and down like theyre raping a camel.
tordack, I know what you mean. But live performances aren't always about energy, showing off and screaming to the public that they should throw their hands in the air.
Slint doesn't really entertain, the band just plays music from the heart. Although I usually don't like performances which sound exactly as on the cd, seeing and hearing Slint live is really amazing and worth it.

Spiderland is so beautiful. This is the best song off Tweez. It doesn't touch anything on Spiderland.

This isn't off of Spiderland though. Its off of their album Tweez. But whatever. Its a good song.

Your right, I'm wrong. I feel a little dumb saying that it was from Spiderland, I do like both albums equally... brain fart... my bad :)
