  • We teach that kata at our school dont know if it is exactly the same but there is a second version where you step and strike with two fist is this the same kata and do you have the second verson.

  • @Mikes2357 its not wrong it done differantly

  • Or even within styles. As one learns, one adapts.

  • oh really? fighters in muay thai, mma, boxing all "lean" forward and we dont get fucked up very often. I can tell by your statement your probably a litte boy or just a ignorant man lol There are different karate styles that do there moves differently thats why theres things are "styles and systems". Just bekuz you were taught ONE WAY doesnt mean HIS is wrong, has it ever accured to u maybe your the one thats doing it incorrectly? btw not all karate styles do things the same way moron lmao

  • form is very sloppy, off balance. fingers where open half the time. punches very sloppy. not good technique :(

  • I believe in Matsubayashi Ryu emphasis is to lean forward in Zenkutsu Dachi - just like in Hung Ga. Another thing - I believe this practitioner is ranked by Nagamine Shoshin himself. (in case you don't know - he is the Founder of this branch of Shorin Ryu.

  • @Koryuhoka

Not neccessarily. Often, instructors of Matsubayashi encourage their Deshi to stand with their back straight.

  • Well, there are different variations so I'm not so sure you can state that he is completely wrong... Karate does evolve. I'm guessing you're talking about his zankutsu?

  • Fiou, quel kimé!...

  • The kata is absolutely correct for Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu ... however, other styles of Shorin-Ryu do a completely different form that is also called Ananku.

  • According to Master Nagamine's book "The Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do", no one knows the origin of Ananku.

This is the only version of Ananku I have ever seen and Sensei Sindt performs it beautifully in this video.

  • @Spaceboy06 It's rumored that Kyan may have learned it from a Taiwanese who visited Okinawa ( or perhaps brought it back as a souvenir from a visit to Taiwan).

  • Thank you all for reminding me why I left martial arts years ago. No matter who you study under, no matter how well you perform, there is always someone to tell you that your doing something wrong, your instructor isn't a true instructor, or your dojo can't be linked to Okinawa, etc, etc, etc. It's too bad there isn't one true governing agency for the various styles. They simply don't exist.

  • @jamesb2410 you dont know shit! There are good teachers all over the usa. Yes he does need to slow down and show his waza. but the kata is okay to some matsubayashi ryu teachers.

  • @jamesb2410 I will admit there are some bad teachers, but it seems you lost your way fairly easily. A good instructor knows that every person is a little different in how they do and perceive things. And as so long as you are not practicing a technique in a way you will harm yourself, there is no such thing as a wrong movement, you just have to understand it's use in combat.

  • @jamesb2410 U allow those you dislike to control your moves in life? You should go back and rediscover the passion that still flows through your viens and pumps the heart that makes you who you are.

  • The kata "ananku" originates from Chotoku Kyan of Okinawa. The kata seen here, though very sharp, is nothing like the original.

  • I have to say that for Karate this form is not bad!

  • that is not like any ananku i have ever seen in the 25 years i have been in Shorin Ryu! This guy leans to much he short cuts the movements and has no true power in his technique.

  • I agree, he's hiding his lack of tecnique through his speed.

What state are you in jeremybur? and to you still train?

  • I am in indiana. and yes I now run a dojo.

  • Ah, too far away unfortunatly. Have you met Frank Grant?

  • can't say that I have. I may know him if I saw him, but the name doesn't ring a bell

  • He is (or was since I'm not up to date on the organization) head of the WSKF

  • Ok. most of my experience is with the PKC, AAU and USKA. Do they have a website?

  • I also do annanku but mine is totaly different, you"ve got very good hand speed and power though.

  • Dude needs to stop leaning so far forward in his front-stances... Other than that, very nice.
