Good review, glad to see the Frsky comparison, I have the Frsky DF combo with telemetry.
I like the spectrum analyser, what system is that? expensive?? I would like to get a spectrum analyser that covers 5.8GHz ideally, as I use that band for FPV.
Hi, I had my plane crash due to RF from the electronic ignition noise. I was using the Aurora9 radio system with a BME 50cc engine can you do some testing and see if you can duplicate the failure.
@gsm1021 It's worth noting that *all* 2.4GHz radios are affected to some degree by ignition noise. I helped diagnose another flier's problems a few weeks ago -- the left aileron on his gaser would sometimes go into the full-up position by itself, but only when the engine was running. He'd flown several flights before that day with no issue. When we looked, he'd recently moved the receiver batteries closer to the engine -- and RFI was getting into the battery lead. Not a Hitec radio either.
@gsm1021 The *golden* rule with all RC gear in gasers is to keep every bit of RC wiring well away from the ignition system. If you have a servo, battery or wire within 6 inches of any of the ignition wiring or the engine then you are significantly increasing the risk of problems. I see people who fit their throttle servo to the firewall and use a 3" metal pushrod and I shudder. I see people who use a servo to operate a switch in the ignition wiring to act as a kill-switch and I shudder.
I ONLY KNOW ONE THING FOR SURE " SINCE I USED HITECH AURORA SYSYTEM EVRY DAY I FLY MY PLANES I CAN STILL HAVE MY PLANES WITHE ME ON THE WAY BACK HOME WIHE BIGE SMILE ON MY FACE , IT WASN,T THE SAME CASE WHEN I WAS USING THE CHINEES CRAB".
@xjet but it will still work near enough alright? I wish there was a frequency in the UK for really high power stuff, but to my knowledge you can't go higher than 100mw :(
Thanks Bruce. Was waiting to see what you had to say about the HiTec system as looking at it for my potential entry in 2.4Ghz with my Futaba 9C. If you do ever hear back from HiTec about only using a third of the spectrum please let us know ASAP. Cheers.
fascinating trying to figure out the thought process that produced the questionable engineering and the workaround for the high reboot voltage by using a separate rx battery. I'm surprised it doesn't switch to the servo supply as a backup power source. Does it have a failsafe facility?
It looks as though the designer aimed the system at larger models able to hold two battery packs, with the intention of operating alongside on-board telemetry of some sort, in which case, it needs a failsafe?
Does the hitec hop (in hop mode) once connected if it detects new interferance
In scan mode ?
Is the frsky a fixed mode over the entire spectrum or is it constantly scanning and hopping ?
My question come from the frsky being able to reconnect when the tx is turned off and on however the hitec will only recconnect in standard or fixed mode. turn off the tx in hopping mode and it's all over no reconnect at all ever.
Thanks for the review , wonder if Hitec are only using 20 odd channels because of a processing time issue? Seems to be quite a good system apart from the external fixed coax to the antenna.
Keep up the good work , you ARE appreciated for all you do for us for free.
Thanks for this review, being a new Aurora 9 owner I was wondering how it faired, I was concerned about the band usage until you said you hit it with a lot of interference and it stood up to the test. If Hitec do reply to you the reason such a small part of the band is used, please post the comments, thanks

but i can english ^.-

that good but it will still defen the front end of the rx on the model!

Hi can you tell us what software and hardware you use to take measurement of 2.4ghz?

Hello Sir,
that was a lovely review in 3 parts. Any videos showing a lock out due to intereference ??
Thanks for your efforts.

Will the FrSky interfere with 2.4ghz video Txs?

@vanepico Yes, it will put lines across the image.

He answered the question of why it
only uses 1/2 of the spectrum - the
receiver uses the other half. Then he
forgot it at the end. It is good both the
receiver band and the transmitter band avoided the interference. Still
a good job Bruce.

Yes, it has failsafe and I also figured that for the price of a diode, being able to fall-back to the servo-battery would have been a good idea.
