What's also funny is how Amanda (Judy) kissed him in the same place as she kissed him in Raising Victor Vargas. Did anyon else notice that???? Great short!!!

  • Five foot hight is Peters sollett short treatment when he was at NYU film class, It was a short and them made into the actual Raising Victor Vargas. Most of the original cast is in it, Fat Donna as you can see had a differente role but its all about becoming of age.

  • @misfit979 it was remade into a full length movie with same cast called raising victor vargas.

  • @misfit979 they made it a couple years later into a longer movie. it's called "raising victor vargas." it's really good

  • @misfit979 Check out the film "Raising Victor Vargas", it is the full length remake version of this film, same actors and story.

  • Great short. Want more.

  • That was absolutely amazing. Victor is an absolute natural - I though it was a documentary until I saw there was a script. I could not stop watching even though I knew the inevitable happy ending...the awkwardness was so genuine. Then it turned out to be a grandslam instead of a homer - with that little boy's face as he turned and walked away. I was hoping they'd run after him together and when Amanda saw it was her little brother or something - and she heard how nice he was to play with him.

  • tht rasta kid was spazin out

  • i from ca it ant nothin like dat out here i want 2 go 2 nyc

  • so your saying its exsactly the same...?

  • kicking people in the leg is always a great way to make new friends

  • this movie looks fucking good

  • That movie was good

  • Absolutely wonderful work. It reminds me of my young teenage years going up in the city. Waiting an eternity for a kiss. Wondering if "He" likes me or not. So, so real. I could feel it. This short took me back emotionally. Wow!

  • Por un beso de esa flaca yo daría lo que fuera...

... aunque solo uno fuera ;)

  • that's Jarabe de Palo's song...

  • Man.... why I am I seeing an exact image of me when I'm seeing Victor?

  • This is very good work.

  • Man, I miss the city

Brought me back to my childhood, for real

  • How did a Johnny Cash song turn into this?

  • Pretty sure they were referencing the De La Soul album/song from the early 90's of the same name.

  • 3 feet high and rising - get it right if youre gonna comment

  • I love this! 5 Stars :)

  • Saw this on HBO back in 2000ish... i was definately a lot younger than and could relate on so many levels. I'd love to see this finally made into a feature.

  • it was made in2 a feature....its called raising victor vargas

  • The chubby girl didn't mean what she said. She only used that comment, to get his attention and his sympathy. She actually played the boy on the bike.

  • "Rumour I heard from my cousin that you were going to get somebody to fuck me up"

    What??

Where did that come out of? And besides, she is already pretty messed up, que no?

  • Too good for words.

  • Wow! really deep, touching, true story. it seems to fit a 2hour long movie into 29:12

    Bravo. Awesome work!

  • Almost every emotion a boy experiences while going threw puberty. its crazy when you first feel that weird goofy emotion for a girl at school.

  • b - o - r - i - n - g

  • One word. Perfect.

  • Wanna Have a Laugh Attack Check out MY channel And watch Rusted Car

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Great film, I remembered how I use to make up stories just to impress a girl wen i was a teenager. sigh.... those wer d days

  • Damn man, makes me wanna move back to NY, especially in NYC

  • Wonderful characters! Beautifully played, very natural. Got me in tears at the end, when Victor gets Judy (or the other way round).

Reminds me a lot of when I lived in NYC in 1970.

Kepp the really good work up!

  • Great film, good veiw into teen & pre-teen thoughts and actions.

  • those kids hve talent !

  • It's all about growing up. The ackward moments and the tenderness of first love. Great short film. I enjoyed watching this film.

  • Much respect for this movie. Keep up the good work! J.Herrick

ceo / Founder of Warrior film productions

  • Now I know how Vin Diesel looked and sound like when he was 13 years of age.

  • good actors director, excelent,

  • this is a good film i thought

  • good shit realistic

  • yo when she pissed in the corner that was nasty as hell. I would have walked away if i was shorty

  • candid, pure, and realistic! good job!

  • perfect response.

  • youtube wasnt made till 2005 i thought???

  • they altered the date just for this.

  • The sign hanging in the scene where the two kids talk about Amanda by the chain link fence give NYC with a street addess, Manhatten zip code and HUD housing project logo. All plain to see.

Don't get the message, if there is one. But, Not bad all tohgether. True depictions. Good work.

  • This crappy short film was made in Puerto Rico, they show the flag at the beginning, I know, I live in P.R.

  • there was an urban housing sign that said new york, had u.s adress and area code

  • Yeah, cause they tried to hide the fact that it was in Puerto Rico so they could make it as if it was New York. At the beginning AND at the end they show the Puertorrican flag, at first a small one on a flagpole and at the end a big one on the building were he kissed the girl, and not only that, but sometimes you can here people screaming in Spanish, just watch out for those details I just gave you and you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • Guess you've never been to NYC.... If I'm not mistaken, some of the scenes look to be shot in the East Village.

  • this is some nice shit, i live in New York and those thing do happen all the time

  • i like this.

  • i dont really get the moral of the story!

  • Was there not a film made on a similar topic, just that we saw the young man's family (who, by the by, were from the Dominican Republic)?

  • He got punished ^_^

  • Great great great.

I could feel what it meant to be young again.

    Thanks

  • boring ...

  • kinda reminds me of kids

  • very good

  • This is the best thing on youtube. I love how it's so authentic that it makes you feel like you grew up there. And the place is so ugly but the characters make it something beautiful. Not to mention the acting by these young kids which is beyond superb.

  • these is good very clean and pure

  • excelent !

  • II like it

  • gooooood and funny the characters are so cute lol

  • Best thing on you tutbe i seen in a while

  • i made that first on my other page

  • i love how natural the film is...just lets you flow and feel like your in new york---was that harlem or the bronx..?

  • lower east side....

  • great film but seriously 15.21 made me sick

  • hahah same hear i couldnt believ it. that dude is brave!!!

  • lol

  • Fake version of Larry Clarks "Kids" {1995) is what it is yo.

  • Great film.

  • natural film i like it

  • All of you saying that some things are unanswered youtube "Raising Victor Vargas" and watch it..this was the prequel to that

  • Loved it, very inspiring to do my own work. Thanks for posting.

  • that was awesome. really good acting too!!

  • I got into this video really quickly and couldn't stop watching. It was very inspiring.

  • Great film! I enjoyed the age-old hero paradigm: Hero is inspired to go on a quest. On this quest, Hero bravely seeks out his fortune. Hero has swashbuckling adventures (Hector). Hero saves a little boy along the way. Hero gets the prize. The little boy discovers that his hero is human, is disappointed.

Perhaps the boy is now inspired to go on a quest of his own. After all, the hero was human, like the boy, and if the hero can seek fortune, so can the boy. If you like my analysis, let me know.

  • I like it! Very thought-full!

  • Great film.

When is it supposed to take place, though?

  • 90's?

  • whats with the role reversal and the girls making all the moves on the guys?

  • beautiful film, so naturel

  • Really impressed with this movie - amazing how little things have changed since I was their age. Kids know a lot more about the world than we give them credit for.

  • Liked it a lot. Watched it throughly for 30 mins.

Leaves you with a few questions though.

    Good short.

  • I liked it, totally took me out from reality was really into it lol

  • ahahaha nice, remind me of my ol'days...

very great acting and photography ;)

  • I liked it.

    Lots of unanswered shit, though.

  • Short , yet very cool to watch.

    Reminds me of my childhood!

  • Great film! I think I would have appreciated it more if I could relate to the lifestyle though .

  • I love this video and like to watch it all the time

  • wow this is a waste.

  • this was amazing. not only was as good if not better than many of the movies i'd have to pay 9 dollars for at the movies, but it has a story i can really relate to. not that it's hard to relate to a love story i guess. just when i was growing up, i remember going to the public pools, i remember being afraid of girls, i remember that feeling of "i have to bullsh!t"

    keep up the good work!

  • isnt this a lot like raising victor vargas

  • dude, the director of this film directed that movie.. its based on the same kid.

  • I love independent films....

  • this was real the kids were soo good they wernt even acting reminds me of growing up in chicago it was like my childhood wright in front of my eyes
