But the had the gatling gun was invented in 1861 and was used in the later years of the civil war. Over 50 years after the war of 1812. i learned the history of the battle of new orleans from my family harritage book. my great great great great grandfather was a captain in the U.S. army and faught in the battle of new orleans.
