LMAO...one of my friends watching this said it was Barack Obama from :54 to :57, and again at 1:25 - 1:27, and 2:51 - 2:54. Dat ain't right, Cletus...LOL
Amazing! I think Patti LaBelle's choir used a similar ending in one of their songs on clash of the choirs in December 2007. If anything like this had ever been done in the church I grew up in, they would have had to call 911 cuz all those old blue haired ladies would have been in full cardiac arrest...we never knew what we were missing....
I remember this. Oh, this is vintage Ricky Dillard and New G. This was a gospel special that came on the television in the late 80s and around 1990 because his first album came out in 1991. Okay, I am telling my age now...lol. I have that one. This is the song that put Ricky Dillard on the map in gospel music.
Ricky is the Choir Master havnt seen one like him yet he has stood the test of time even back in the day his choir was singing kids under the floor lol
Whew! That's all I can say. I really love Ricky Dillard and his chior. I enjoy the contemporary arangments, but Dillar always weaves in Traditional as well..this is one of those songs. Amazing. To correct the message at the very top: Dillard is an amazing director hands down, but we also have to recognize those directors that paved the way...Olanda Draper,Donnie Graves, James Hall, etc.
Even though they were in the balcony, they still tore up. I think that them singing in the balcony was a good idea, it brought more excitement to the song and the people.
I was in New G at the time. Trust me, we didn't wanna be in the balcony, but Calvin Bridges insisted that his choir be on the stage, since he was the "name act". Patti wanted us on stage but Calvin won out
I could have sworn I'd commented on this clip and can't find my comment anywhere. I love this song, always have. Its just funny watching this and thinking of how it was just yesterday, yet quite a while ago. Those sopranos were something else. LOL Its a completely different choir now yet Ricky still brings that authentic style that he is well known and respected for.
i hate to come back for a second tyme but what i love about this song is that there eyes nvr leave ricky.and hes so graceful and crazy at the same tyme that while directs it looks like hes glidin across the floor...this is how church need to b again
Can someone please tell me ONE word they are saying? I love gospel music like crazy, but that has always been my biggest complaint...we get so wrapped up in the beat...antics while singing....or theatrics...that we sometimes fail to effectively deliver the words of the song, the VERY thing in which we should listen to. I want to be able to feel the prescence of God when we cut away the tambourine...drums...organ...and dramatic director and all this is left are pure words.
"I've come that you might have life more abundantly. I've come that you might have life through eternity. I did not come to condemn the world, or shame you for your wrong, but I came to mend your broken heart and to give your heart a song!" "I've Come to Come to Give You Life, I've Come to Give You JOY!!!! JOY!!" I hope that answers your question.
The one thing that Ricky Dillard and the New Generation Choir is known for is thier "Diction and Enunciation." So forgive me if I am left baffled at your difficulty in understanding what they are saying.
man our sunshine band wore this song out i got tired of hearing it LOL YOU'D GOto a musicla in chicago and at least 3 choirs would sing the same song lol YES CHICAGO CHOIRS ARE THE BEST
