  • Good game, a realy like it and today de graphics look like my cel XD

  • This game was gold in that time, I spend many and many ours on it. Brilliant from sega !!!!!

  • man I loved this game as a kid.

  • 240p ahhhhh

  • The trick to driving this game well on the regular control pad is to always hold forward on the analog stick. It's a steep learning curve, but once you master that technique, this game is gold.

  • @Adamwinters Also, learning how to use Manual Transmission is a MUST for mastering those tight corners while still going full throttle.

  • @8824shyte why is that then son, so you could impress the wee kiddies you like to lure in???

  • Can XBOX 360 and PS3 runs DAYTONA USA 2001?......

I DONT THING SO. :D only on DREAMCAST biches!

  • @eriolsama actually the game was released on Xbox Live

  • @eriolsama Arcade games were great and they had simple menus. and as for what you said... DAMN RIGHT!!! would you look at those trees beet that Gran Turismo! Actually the lighting is good bright NOT ENOUGH FORZA MORE MORE MRORE!!! BEET THAT!! HELL YES, WHAT A CLASSIC!!!

  • @eriolsama Yea. I still have my dreamcast and vga box and...this game still blows my mind everytime i load it up. ROLLING STAAAAAART!

  • why would they change the song....

  • nice! but you didn't burn up the tires!!!!

  • XBLA please...(with original arcade sounds)

  • XBLA please...

  • I like more the version where it says "TiiiiIiiMMmee XteNNNsIOOnnn" in all various kind of voice tone.

  • @ioport Oh, and with regards to my greasy, jack off fingers, your Mum didn’t seem to mind them the other night when I was going down on her. Seriously though munchin, you should tell her to invest in some feminine hygiene products. It smells like a tramp died down there. Well, you make sure you write again soon Cupcake, I’m missing you already. X

  • Comment removed

  • @ioport Well, Cupcake, I know I said I wasn’t going to look, but I just couldn’t resist a quick peek to see what ‘witty’ comebacks you had for me this time. Accusing me of nerd rage? That’s a bit rich coming from you isn’t it, Cupcake? I mean, weren’t you the one who started getting all shouty and sweary at me over a computer game in the first place? The word irony is probably lost on you isn’t it? I suspect you’re so fucking stupid you probably think that’s what elephant tusks are made of.

  • Direct quote from Wikipedia: 'This version tends to be criticized for poor controls. The analog stick's default setting is extremely sensitive, but that can be corrected in the options screen (except in the Japanese version). However, the game still does not handle exactly like the original arcade version of Daytona USA even when using a racing wheel.'

  • @ioport Oh and BTW, the reason I called you Cupcake is because that's generally the best way to talk to a little pre-pubescent girl who's throwing a tantrum - like you dickhead.

  • 2:23 lol wtf

  • Is he saying "Stay loop in the turn" because that's always what it sounded like to me

  • @ioport I think it's "Stay low in the turn". You'll go faster on the inside of the curve...

  • @jasonhalliday72 Ah, thanks. Makes sense. Who are the Japanese voice over guys Sega hires to do all these goofy Western voices in their games?

  • SEGA should make the new Daytona USA for Wii

  • @fungstupid and sonic adventure 2

  • i dont hate the dc version.. even though the graphics are improved etc,, this still doesn't hold a candle to the original arcade version,,, sega just couldnt seem to port the game over properly onto a home console,, on the saturn it had a shocking draw distance and in the championship edition they tried to improve on the original but ended up making the cars harder to enjoy (IMO)..

but yeh,, ill take the arcade version any day

  • @strictlysega the original saturn version is arcade perfect, the graphics suck but who cares.

  • @BetonStudio i still would like this to be a downlaodable release on the ps3 or xbox

  • i wanna fly sky high

  • If you got a dreamcast made before oct 2000 burn the game then play it get all games from cool roms just google it!

  • @KillerLodge its actually Dreamcast made before October of 2000. I am going to get this i remember this from the arcade days

  • @KillerLodge not all dreamcasts work with burned games???

  • @Logicfray I don't believe so. I got my Dreamcast before Christmas 1999, it can play all burned games. Several years later, my cousin bought another Dreamcast and it also can play them. You need to download any "selfboot" game, it can't run non-selfboot games.

  • man i have this game and the disc is ok but my dreamcastt wont freaking read it

  • I would like this better then gran turismo 2 for ps1 since the racing in that game is so SLOW and not fun. And for some reason got a high review since it was like a simulator

  • I remember not playing this for the longest time, because I thought the controls were WAY too sensitive which killed the fun.

Since 9/9/9 I started playing all my DC games again, and now find that I play Daytona FAR more than anything.(even more than my loved F355 & LeMans) With the controls, I just finally "got it" and figured out to ease the analog, and not jerk it as if it was digital. And now, (even though it's an arcade racer), I think this is seriously one of the best racers out there.

  • All I remember of this game was the appalling handling of the cars.

  • This game looks fantastic!!!

  • WHERE THE F-CK IS CRAZY TAXI?

  • For some reason I didn't like this game as much as the Saturn original. I can't quite put my finger on it. I think it was the shiny graphics, made it look too much like toy cars. And I've always disliked the DC controller.

It's a good game, but just doesn't feel the same as the original, maybe its nostalgia of the first, I don't know.

  • Where are the other 20 opponents?

  • ....whoa these graphics are better then the saturn version lol

  • G-A-M-E-O-V-E-R!

  • @smgsterlin1 that game over music was awesome and funny XD

  • They finally got the "Ladies and Gentlemen" thing right. <_<

  • the mode select noise is the same one from jet grind radio

  • you was good on sa2 so its good for a start im

a pro but i died 100 times i think you died 0 times

  • Much better than the arcade, more tracks and cars and the sonic wall didnt just pop into view like the arcade and saturn versions. Dreamcast version rules.

  • Dude...I agree 100%....I still own a dreamcast with the Ferrari wheel and it still gives me tons of fun ! Dreamcast4ever...

  • 1994 vs. 2001 dude.

  • This game looked and sounded the business and was really nicely presented, but the twitchy controls ruined it. No amount of tweaking the sensitivity seemd to get it right, (well for me anyway), which is a real shame because it could've been brilliant. (Outrun 2 on the Xbox, and it's pseudo-sequel coast to coast, are without doubt the best handling games I've ever played on a home system - I wish the handling in this game could've been like that)

  • @MrThunderwing just put steering sensitivity to the lowest and use a steering wheel. the gameplay is near perfect 100%

  • @drunkensailor112 Nah, I did invest in a wheel at one point but it still didn't feel right to me (could've just been been I had a crap wheel though - it wasn't an official one).

  • @MrThunderwing I have no problem with the controls. A bit twitchy, yes, but this is an arcade racer, not Gran Turismo

  • @ioport No way, I just pirated the game because of what I've heard because I'm scared shitless to buy it now, and hes right, this game has by far the worst controlls ever spawned by humanity itself, I don't think anyone tested this out, the game graphically is very impressive, but the controllers had to ruin it!!!! Someone in the DC Homebrew community should fix it.

  • @ioport It's an arcade racer not Gran Turismo? Well thanks for clearing that up for me without at all sounding patronising. I'm well aware of what the differences in the genres are. Doesn't change the fact it handles like a drunken elephant on ice skates. There are plenty of other arcade racers out there that handle brilliantly - like, as I'd said in my previous comment, Outrun 2.

  • @MrThunderwing Stop exaggerating: the gay Drunken elephant on ice skates comment, etc. This game is not Gran Turismo nor is it Outrun 2. It's a fucking ARCADE RACER, as is Outrun 2, but with different control and style. You think the highly qualified Jap devs that programmed this game were so fucking stupid they didn't know how to make the car in Daytona control like the car in Outrun? What a fucking moron

  • @ioport You need to calm down cupcakel. I don't think the developers were so stupid they didn't know how to make the car in Daytona handle like the car in Outrun. I just think they messed up the contols when they were converting this from the arcade - a fact that was mentioned in a lot of the reviews for this game when it originally came out. The original Saturn version handled just fine, all they needed to do was keep the handling similar to that.

  • @MrThunderwing Sorry, can't understand you with those dicks in your mouth.

  • @ioport what's with all the gay references, I thought we were just having a disscussion about a 10 year old computer game? Are you one of those closeted homosexuals who like to go around around pointing the finger at everyone one else because you're secretly in denial? Don't bother replying - you like the game; good for you. I just personally reckon it's a very disapointing conversion of a really good arcade game. Let's just leave it at that.

  • @MrThunderwing LOL douchebag. Coming from the fucknut who called me cupcake. What a hypocrite. BTW, I'd bet money you've never even played the actual Daytona arcade game, just the shitty Saturn one, so stop lying. Don't bother replying, as you say, though I'm sure those greasy, jack off, nerd fingers of yours can't help it. Get to it then buddy.

  • @ioport Oh for fuck's sake. Why would would I bother lying about it you stupid cunt? You can write whatever you want in response to this, I’m never going to read it, and knowing that fact, any response you do make will just make you seem like even more of a prick for writing it. I mean seriously, haven’t you got anything better to do with your life than to go around accusing total strangers on Youtube of being gay and calling them fucking-morons? Get a life, you sad little nobody.

  • @MrThunderwing LOL! Nerd rage -- full speed ahead! You fucking tool. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Didn't you say you were done with this argument last time? But lo and behold, just as I said, Senor Cockbreath is compelled to fire off another impotent volley. You sad little thing. I'd rather be a prepubescent girl than a pathetic little fidget like you.

  • @MrThunderwing I bought this game with the Dreamcast Ferrari steering wheel. It controls perfectly, just like the arcade machine. Cornering is flawless, and power sliding a breeze. Have not tried playing it with a pad though!

  • @xtremecoasters without wheel it was unplayable... i remember no fun with pad..

  • man i loved this game i have played the arcade version and dreamcast version when i was six.if you otice at the the first track you can see sonic the hedgehog on the mountain at one of the turns.

  • Is there a way to change it so the original music plays during the races?

  • This game kicks ssssssso much ass lol i always play this with my mates on the arcade, got the dc version too but its not quite the same feeling as the arcade, even tho the conversion is identical but still fun to play at home too. :-)

  • I prefer the original Saturn version too mickeyelsalsero.

  • Meh, the arcade version looks better. I'm just not feeling any of the speed here.

  • This game gets a lot of criticism because the analog sensitivity is set too high by default. However, you can easily adjust it and save the new setting to VMU:

Options > Player 1/2 Controller Setting > Analog Calibration > Steering. Reduce Sensitivity to either zero (fully black bar; beginners) or one (mostly black bar with one increment of red; everyone else).

    No more twitchy controls!

  • damn thanks for that info I was one who thought man this game is so good but the controls are too sensitive! Great I shall try this!. I wish this was online id race you!

  • I wish they'd release this on the Wii or XBL Arcade or PSN

  • This would be just wonderful. I'll really hope Sega is going to release it someday.

  • This was an awesome conversion. Much better than the saturn version

  • the new game over theme sucks

  • i loved the saturn version even though it had flaws. It was true to the arcade and funny at the same time.

  • No es malo el juego, pero prefiero Daytona USA 2. Está mas elaborado.

  • Why didnt put and stages from Daytona USA 2? :(

It was amazing stages! And why not put online race in Europe version? X3

  • Saturn Version: GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!!!

Dreamcast: Ladies And Gentlemen START YOUR ENGINES!!!

Hmmmm I wonder why SEGA changed that ;)

  • To be more politically correct.

  • Cause it's more politically correct to include women too.

  • i always thought the guy sounded like the dude from reading rainbow

  • @Hypalinx wtf, i was just going to ask that, Maybe because sega DC has more girly games .

  • @opedroefeio so immature... idiota

  • @darksonicma no dummie, if you think well , a lot of girls bought sega dreamcast instead of other consoles , duh..

  • @opedroefeio whatever.

  • @Hypalinx Maybe they thought "oh maybe girls might play it" have you ever wondered why sega made the "Unicorn".

  • @Hypalinx i guess its the political correctness that got inforced into everyone over the ten years after the originals release

  • @Hypalinx But now he lisps like a spoof of a gay man.

  • @Hypalinx probably because the gamer girls were starting to appearing in the game scene

  • @Hypalinx Because racing is not just for guys

  • What the hell did they do to the GAME OVER theme?

  • When i Bought this game, the first time i thought it was Crap. Some months later i got my Steering wheel, gave it another Try and it wsa Aweeesome!

  • Hello? Even with the steering wheel it has a completely unique feel, seeming as it has new cars (and the Hornet is faster than arcade) as well as revised physics.

  • Just got this in the mail 2 weeks ago, great game (once I got used to the sensitive steering). DAYTONAAAAA, LETS GO AWAY!

  • its better to use a steering wheel control for this game

its the exact same feel as the arcade version

  • its better to use a steering wheel control for this game

its the exact same feel as the arcade version

  • thanks

  • nice.
