@rebelartwork I agree totally...he is like the mind meld of the best of John Lennon with the hitmaker marketer sense of Paul McCartney...He is Pure Greatness in all aspects of being a musician and maker of records...
@HoleHeadedLiar The original idea was roy woods to have a group that could play complicated orchestrations like the beatles but he left and jeff lynne went off in differant tangents sounding like jerry lee lewis and the stones as you said
@PlaygroundsWillLaugh "Fire on high" from Face the Music album. It is instrumental with backwards vocals that say "music is reversible but time... turn back turn back. Have you heard it?
@tatunkha It's an instrumental? The one I just found on YouTube sounds like it is reversed when it's not and then clearly "...turn back..." when it is actually reversed. Is that what it's supposed to sound like played correctly? I read they did it in response to a group that found an unintentional backward message on the song Eldorado.
What a great tune!! I cannot remember the last time I heard this song. I agree with a few others that this is one of their best songs. What a treat. Thanks for posting it. We gotta keep this music alive. They don't make music like this so much any more. The musicians in the 60's, 70's and part of the 80's, where the "Pioneers". In my humble opinion!
wholly overlooked B-side to the fey Living Thing which I purchased in 75-76 as a youngun; excellent riff

I just don't understand the "son of the beatles" title that was bestowed upon this band; this sounds much more like the Stones, if you ask me.

@HoleHeadedLiar I just don't understand the "son of the beatles" title that was bestowed upon this band;
It came from the lips of John Lennon,
He also said that Showdown should have been a No 1 if UA had pulled their finger out.

I bought this vinyl LP (On The Third Day) yesterday at the swap meet for $1.00. Mint condition too. Plays like it was meant to in 1973. Sweetness.

This has officially been my favorite song since 2001. And I don't plan plan on changing that.

Funny how people that like ELO mention time travel. Jeff is possibly alluding to it on an obscure track of theirs. Want to know which one anyone?
Great song thanks Jeff for your music always. Thanks for the upload too

Marc Bolan also played on a couple Alice Cooper songs. Definately a bolan sounding guitar pattern here. Yep Marcs in there!!!!!
