the pirelli mt43 isnt really the best tyre to use on a big powerful bike like your xr650 for instance. like you say they do tend to break away a little and slip and slide and if your riding on the road they just get chewed up so much. there ideal for something like a 250 or lower maybe. you might want to try the dunlop d773 or a Metzler MC5 they have a hard compound and are excellent for all round use.
