a mate of mine had an unbelievable find the other day. Was looking to find a 5 turbo and ended up getting in contact with this guy who was pretty ancient to be fair. Only to find a 5 turbo with only 20,000 on the clock. The car had hardly been used from new. H e bought it for £1000. i couldnt believe it. i just hope he doesnt smash it up haha
Id Rather have a clio 182. Cheaper than the twingo and faster than Both. Love the Renault 5. Smoked the RS twingo in the birds standard 1.7 125bhp puma the other night. Maybe just the driver.lol
I had a 5 Turbo for 5 years.....best fun I ever had with my clothes on. I did manage to slide off the side of bends a couple of times in the wet though. It was tricky to handle when the boost kicked in if you didnt have the wheels straight.
This pisses me of, theone thing a 5 Turbo is known for being bad at, is handling in the wet. If they'd have done that in the dry I assure you it would have been a different result. I've seen it don at croft in the dry and the 5 Turbo was the quicker car!! Very poor effort for a pair of motoring journalists!! they should be sacked!!
Who is this guy? Saying the 5 is twitchy, my mother taught mi to drive in hers, I was 17 and had no trouble correcting a slide, though the brakes were shit in the wet, handled better on MXVs rather than NCTs though.
ermmmm If you were 'sliding' when you were learning to drive, doesnt that mean that the car has to be twitchy to allow you to lose control/drift at learning speeds,,,, pro touring car drivers opinion vs some u tube guy??? hmmm I'll take JP's
Had passed my test by the time I was going a bit quicker ;o), not going to say how fast, never said lost control or drifted, just no trouble correcting a slide, the GT t had a unique IRS with a v section beam at the front of the trailing arms, and a transverse torsion rod with an anti-roll bar split in the middle with a floating link lengthways link anchored to the main beam ( was audible when pressing on) all this stuff increased roll stiffness to reduce the chances of lift off oversteer.
Hey TweeksCoffeee... you forgot that youtube commenters are a mine of accurate and true information, which is second only to the best source of info... a bloke down the pub.
ahahahahahahahah sorry ......compare the r5gtt blusport with a tecnology little twingo????r5 the best over the top and please a good tyres and hot day for blusport.
Mr Plato is such a wanker haha, and all the Fifth Gear team, but most of all, Tiff Needel. What a big fucking twat. Anyway, shame they didn't put sticky tires on the R5, or something similar to the Twingo then the results would maybe be different.

the 5 would be quicker hands down in the dry power to weight is more and a set of decent tyres wouldnt go a miss like he said
stansfield83 2 years ago
Eggsactly!! Specialy with the original tyres.... Too bad they didn't do this test in the dry! (and how precise is the stopwatch of the driver?? :P )

Clarkson says Older cars are faster than nowadays ones..and he is right but not here...
Fifth Gear dont like top gear (6-th) so they make newer car quicker to prove Clarkson is wrong :)

There is quite a mistake here see British peoples does not say "DUDE" it is only for AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!

cocacolaholic 3 years ago
Is he really?! Didn't look like he was. Twitchy and nervous, that's what he looked like.
antimainstream 3 years ago
i think if u tried to drive a r5 on a wet road with skinny 195/55/13 tyres it will be a bit of a handfull
cocacolaholic 3 years ago
That might be the case, but he still is a twat in my opinion.

Yep! Brand new ones right before the shoot though. Shame they're the only ones avaliable in the right size now. :-(

What about the Dunlop SP2000? I bought my last set about 4 years ago and they are far better than the dunlop.
