I downloaded msi Afterburner hoping to overclock my ATI Radeon HD 5570 to a point at which Battlefield 3 would run well, but my gpu wouldnt melt. Even at maximum clocking though (Core Clock of 700 and Memory Clock of 550) my gpu temp stays below 55C even with Battlefield running (sloppily) in 1080p. Is there any way i can further increase my maximum clock MHz?
@TheZASTAVA750 It's a certain possibility, so make sure you case has plenty of airflow and no blockage. Of course, turn your graphics card fan up to 100% too.
@BlueBananners Perhaps, though usually most GPUs (and CPUs too), when they hit their limit will just auto fail and revert back to normal clocks in the process as a safety measure.
i have a 5570 as well but i cant overclock as much as you, my core clock is only 700mhz and the memory is 950 which both of them is at the max.. why cant i reach the same amount of overclock as you?
Could i perhaps do a little overclocking on my Powercolor Radeon HD 5570 1GB card i should be getting in a few days? Core Clocks and mem clocks are 650mhz/800mhz and i just wanna see if i could tweak em a bit so i can run L.U.R.K Mod for Stalker Shadow of chernobyl and Skyrim and WoW efficiently... same as other guy, im only 15 and i dont get much of a income either :P
I have the same graphics card. I'm using the AMD Overdrive tool. The original settings were 650MHz for GPU clock, 800MHz for Memory clock and 20% Fan clock.
If I put this up to 690MHz GPU, 940MHz Memory and 100% Fan, is this safe? I don't want to screw this up because as a 14 year old I don't have much of an income. Thanks in advance.
@TheMetalHeadGr what i actually meant was i don't know wich clocks i have to get. i've tried alot of things but i always get screen freezes. It bugs me. but ty for the reply ;)
@TheMetalHeadGr i think it's about right. i read somewhere that newer cards can go up to 100c and than not be damged. but u should look around for yourself.
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
oh man...i have my saphirre ATI HD 5570 512 DDR5 realy brutal overclocked , core 950MHZ and Memory to 1050MHZ .....hahah.. with the ATI overdrive...peace..the card have a original artic cooler....
Ok, at this point I'm just going to tell everyone this:
If you have an ATi card, enable overclocking through the CFG file in the main Afterburner location on your harddrive. If you need to take ownership of the file, do it. If you don't know how, Google it. If it doesn't work, you're probably fucked because you don't know how to use your computer to the extent you should, and therefore probably shouldn't be overclocking.
@ElSighxD It's the size of the words used by the processor, which also effects the amount of addressable memory. 64 is better. You just need the proper hardware and drivers to run on 64 bit.
@ElSighxD A more clearer is windows 32bit is slower than 64 and 42 does not let you go over 3 gigs of ram thats its RAM cap 64 bit you can get like wayyy over 3 like 6,8,10,12,14,24 (24 if the motherboard supports it) hope that gives you the final answer i used RAM as an example and speed aswell
For those of you not being able to OC like him, it's because of the newer, shittier version of Afterburner. You need to download 1.6.0 and you should be able to OC at the same settings.
i gots me a problem. i got a 5570 silence, the one with the big heatsink on it. now with msi afterburner, i can initially only oc my core clock to 700 and memory clock to 650. i set the UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 and yet i still cant overclock it past these speeds. help pl0x.
Hmm.. Whenever I try OC my 5570 with this app my card crashes every ~10 minutes and VPU recoverer kicks in, unfreezing the game after ~10 secs. Suppose I'll just play with no OC ):
@basbas63 Didn't do it too much, I think. Core clock 650 --> 700 and mem clock 800 ---> 950. As for cooling, I have a small fan attatched that came with the card, probably not a strong fan, but I assumed it would have been enough since it's a low profile card that doesn't draw much power.
why is it in ur description u say u got it to 800+ core and 1100+ memory when even in the ati control center and msi afterburner, it wont let me go past 700 core and 900 memory?
@mobius1aic nvm, i got it, but do u have to keep msi open whenever u want to play a game, cuz every time i exit out of it n reopen it, my settings go back to default
i love this card ... good price and good overclock ...loveeeeeeeee.....
i have a sapphire radeon defaul 650 core and memo 1600 .... overclock 800 core and memos 1810 .... in the benchmark final fantasy XIV score 2150 ... amd athlon II x 2 245 2.9mhz ram 4 .... and windows 7 ...... a friend has the same computer as me and have a 9600GT and your final score is 1850... godd carddddddd
Why is mine limited to a certain clock? I can't go much higher than 50-100 on memory & core! also, why does it reduce down to ~200mhz when not in use?
@mobius1aic yeah i know you used fraps, i saw the number pop up, what i meant was how? because there isnt an option on mine to record the desktop (its v. 3.2.2)
Hello, I own an Hp desktop, with an AMD 64x2 4400+ 2.3ghz proc, 4 gigs of ddr2 ram, and a crappy integrated nvidia6150se graphics. I have been wanting to upgrade, but am noobish when it comes to comps, I also only have a 250w PSU in my computer, it is bone stock. Could u run this card? Or maybe even the 5670? Most games I play or wish to play are about graphically intensive as Dragon Age
@GunnaLeeeeeee It can, depending on clock, voltage and the cooling system. No chip will last forever. I only OC when I need it most. The majority of what I play on my 5570 I don't need any overclocking, like BF2, CoD4/WaW, BF2142, etc. OCing isn't magical and doesn't always get you the amount of performance you need. It's not a substitute for a better card, but it's nice to get a 10%-20% when you need it. Besides I have another computer with a Radeon 5850 for when I need it lol.
@mobius1aic OK..well my 4650 burnt out so i ordered this to replace it. You say it does pretty well at BF2 @ Cod? i play at 1280 x 1024 but i turn it down sometimes...atleast when my card couldnt handle it
@GunnaLeeeeeee Yeah it should do 1920 x 1080 easily with BF2 even with 4 or 8x AA. CoD4 is doable at 1080p without AA and still will get about 40+ FPS depending on the scene, though it won't go below 30.
Search "Beach Garden" on Google Images. It's a 1600 x 1200 so I have part of the bottom of the wallpaper cut off at the bottom, since I have a 1600 x 900 monitor.
@Harpreet06 You disconnect the DVI or VGA port wire that makes connection to the graphics board itself, then to get the actual bracket off you have to unscrew the one or two tiny screws + the hollow hexagonal nuts that are to either side of the DVI or VGA port on the back of the card. Switch brackets, and reverse the process. Of course, whatever port it was that was offset of the graphics board won't be there anymore (usually the VGA), leaving a DVI, HDMI or both at your disposal.
@mobius1aic 1 question. the 5570 comes with 2 low profile brackets. 1 has the dvi and hdmi holes and the other just has a vga hole. if you look at the card the dvi and hdmi ports are on the front of the card and the vga port has a sort of cable on the side which links to the full size bracket. could i use both brackets by putting the cable into the other low profile bracket?
@mobius1aic i think it should be. i cant see another reason y they would include a vga low profile bracket otherwise. a noob question but when upgrading from an ATI card to another ATI card do you still have to remove the old drivers before swapping the cards?
@Harpreet06 Well if you need the vga bracket, then use it. As for drivers, I would go ahead and find the one specific for the new card, and install that. Yeah, drivers across the same series, but I'd still do it to be safe.
I saw your vid on the MSI Afterburner for the 5570 ati, I cant seem to get my core clock to go higher than 1040, you said you change the config file to do this, Im familiar with that file but which value did you change to increase the clock speed? could you email me a screen shot of your config file or just tell me witch one to change? its driving me nuts! my email is trhershey@kuhncom.net
@SSGT1968 1040 MHz?!? That's insanely high. Mine typically fails at about 825 MHz, so I would put that to be the limit of the GPU unless you mess with the voltages, which is something I don't do. I like more sheer performance but you need to be careful not to kill your graphics card pre-maturely. If you meant the memory and not the core, then 1040 MHz is safe, you should be able to get to 1100 at least.
@M0vir You have to turn off it's auto fan setting before it let's you change the slider. It's the small "Auto" button at the top right corner of the fan speed slider module/box.
@M0vir Try clicking the button on the far right side of the fan speed slider. Also it's possible that ATi's Catalyst system could be getting in the way so you might want to uninstall it.
Not sure what you're trying to ask. I used FRAPS to record the footage. FRAPS is a PC video recording program that can be used to record what is going on the desktop or a game that is being played on computer.
Is it safe to try overclocking on 230V?

I saw your vid on the MSI Afterburner for the 5570 ati, I cant seem to get my core clock to go higher than 1040, you said you change the config file to do this, Im familiar with that file but which value did you change to increase the clock speed? could you email me a screen shot of your config file or just tell me witch one to change? its driving me nuts! my email is trhershey@kuhncom.net
thank you

@SSGT1968 1040 MHz?!? That's insanely high. Mine typically fails at about 825 MHz, so I would put that to be the limit of the GPU unless you mess with the voltages, which is something I don't do. I like more sheer performance but you need to be careful not to kill your graphics card pre-maturely. If you meant the memory and not the core, then 1040 MHz is safe, you should be able to get to 1100 at least.

I cant set the fan speed :/

@M0vir You have to turn off it's auto fan setting before it let's you change the slider. It's the small "Auto" button at the top right corner of the fan speed slider module/box.

@mobius1aic I cant even click that

@M0vir Try clicking the button on the far right side of the fan speed slider. Also it's possible that ATi's Catalyst system could be getting in the way so you might want to uninstall it.

Not sure what you're trying to ask. I used FRAPS to record the footage. FRAPS is a PC video recording program that can be used to record what is going on the desktop or a game that is being played on computer.
