Thank you! I just used this video to help me to replace my *touch screen*, not the LCD. I had the exact same problem as UFCmade. The display was working perfectly, but the touch screen didn't respond. I will tell what I did in my response to UFCmade.
My screen's display still works but I cant navigate myself anywhere. If i touch the screen to look at my messages or pictures or anything I'm stuck looking at my wall paper and the only way i can call is by using voice command. I tryed taking out the battery and leaving it off all night, and try turning it off and on a lot. It just stoped working in the middle of the day out of no where. It has no water damage and i droped it a few times but nothing bad, and i had a case. What should i do?
@UFCmade I took the phone apart, like the video shows, and then CAREFULLY pushed the touch screen out of the front of the phone too. Be careful not to break the little flat metal strip that goes across near the bottom, near the main button area. You will notice a thick, black adhesive lining that goes all the way around the edge of the screen area. Mine came off with the touch screen, and I had to slowly pull it off and put it back on the face of the phone in order to adhere the new screen.
I replaced my screen but ran into a few problems. 1. I had some screwdrivers that ate up the screws a little, untill I used one that didn't. 2. there were 5-6 cables to remove. 3. my screen protector's side parts got in the way of prying it apart. 4. I had to break some plastic nobs that held onto some metal. 5. I messed up the speaker by forcing the case to close with a white cord not in its place. So now I have no speaker, but all other sounds work. Do you think another LG phone has this cord?
I just used this video to replace my LCD screen and it saved me $61.00. I was able to buy the screen for just under $14.00 on Ebay compared to having a place in town who wanted $70.00 to fix it.
worked great, would have never had the guts to open up the phone unless I saw this video first. only thing different is that there are two extra wires that do not let you remove the screen part completely like the video but I was able to make it work.
@CouchPotatoe97 If your LCD is not cracked or have dead spots on it then I see no reason to replace it. there is a touch screen in front of the LCD that maybe causing your issue.
Thanks for this wonderful video. You did a great job explaining the process. Glad you said it wouldn't be as easy first time around. I just changed my sister's LCD screen and it worked beautifully. The only difference from yours was that the LCD part and the circuit-board parts of her phone were connected by 2 wires making it a little more challenging to work with. Anyway, she is thrilled with her "new" cell phone that only cost $30 or so. Thanks again!
To everyone who has commented that their touch screen is no longer working if you want me to take a look at it let me know. This video deals only with a broken lcd screen. the touch screen repair is different. send me your phone and I'll make a new video. Thanks ..... David
@TheContagiousCritic I assume we are talking about the Touch screen not working. This would be new troubleshooting for me and video. I can't promise I will fix it but I will only charge the cost of the part and postage so that would be around $40.
I was texting on my phone yesterday, and it stopped working out of nowhere.. when i touch the screen nothing happens..at all.. i have no idea whats wrong. i had another chocolate touch before this one.. and it did the same. idk whats wrong with it..
@aznboy950 sounds like you may need a new front touch screen. the 2 ribbon cables go to different screens.
the large one goes to the lcd screen and the small one goes to the front touch screen. You can find both screens for replacement parts I only had to change the lcd with my problem, but you my need the other screen.
Hey, i dropped my phone (Chocolate touch) a few days ago and my screen works fine and everything. Color normal nothing wrong, except the touch screen doesnt work at all. I took off the back and detached and reattached the cables. Nothing changed. So i was wondering if this was an LCD problem or another problem in general?
@magister1122 I would tell you to try calibrating but if your touch screen isn't working you can't get into the settings. This is a different problem than I experienced and you may need the front screen that has its own ribbon cable which was the smaller one. I think that part is just a little more $ than the LCD and is available.
hey thanks alot for the video! I'm hoping I can fix my c-touch soon. I got a dare from ebay thinking it was good, but I really don't like it. It's also having color issues. (supposedly a "new" phone listen under "new other") anyway, I found a place called Globaldirectparts and it has parts for everything. the only thing i'm not 100% sure about, do I need a new LCD screen, or new cable ribbons? my display is 85% gone, but the phone still detects touch there.
@KamiSetsuri Did you drop your phone like I did? I wouldn't suspect the ribbons unless you got your phone wet and then you would have a entirely different issue than I. My phone also detected touch everywhere and just needed the LCD.
@drsjr1969 I didn't drop it, I think carrying a laundry basket with a sowing machine did it. (i propped it on my leg where my phone was) I can still do everything on it, the display is mostly gone. (like something disconnected)
I never ever got my phone wet. if i did, it would be from wiping it with a wet rag. but it never messed up because of that.
@KamiSetsuri you could always just take off the first 6 screws and unclip the 2 ribbon connectors. Then reseat the 2 connectors and put it back together. If that doesn't change anything then it has to be the LCD.
