a Canadian tribute to Canada by an american who looks to make fun of everything canadian. next time you pay tribute to my country, remember to mention i look funny and smell bad too.
Hey, Canada's nice and all, but it's too damn expensive to live there. I lived in Buffalo, NY for a while and we always had ppl from ON coming down to get gas or just buy things in general. And that was before your economy improved.
How exactly was that relevent to anything I said? Honestly. My Boyfriend is Canadian and I like the country- wish I could move there. But like America they have their moronic citizens too
@Chibihorsewoman we have a whole dame province: Newfoundland and Labrador, just like Utah for you guys but with a really funny accent and they know that they're kinda simple
I agree. I drove all the way across North America, from Halifax, NS to Victoria, BC, and I drove through the States for a significant portion of the trip.(Detroit Michigan, NW through to Minot, ND ) The gas was cheaper, the highway infrastructure is better, and my siblings are all American living in Washington. You should have heard me freak out about my power bill the other day. Bullshit.
Yeah the cost of living in America is definately nlower than the cost of living in Canada. My soon to be father-in-law makes about 20$ an hour and lives in what my boyfriend calls a gloryfied shack because of the cost of living and having to pay child support
I have been sick in the US before! It was bad! :( They said I had gotton bit by some bug we don't have here in canada! They said that i would be fine after a few days, but NO! I come back here and they send me a doctor, IT WAS A BAD BRUISE!!!!!!!!!! >:( They gave my medicine for a BRUISE. All i needed to do was stick it in the snow~! lol.
Of course the cost of living is lower. You have more poor people living in the U.S Hec, 2 million of them are in jail. Over a millon people have no permanent place to live, instead they live on the street. The U.S. goes to war to fight for the right of Iraquis to vote and yet she cannot even look after the most basic needs of her own people. Some goddamn society.
@zapkvr Hey dumbshit. Canada has more homeless per capita than US (300,000).
Many of "the homeless" who make use of homeless shelters are also employed.[7] Individuals and families are simply priced out of private housing markets. In 2000, about 22% or 2.5 million Canadian households fell below the minimum amount required to afford a basic home, gauged at $25, 920. Five years later, this number rose to 26% or 3.2 million households.[8]

Back during his club days, John Stewart said this of Canada.
"'What do you think of Canada, seriously?' Uh... we don't. That is until we run out of something. So someday... uh, hey Canada, um... we need wood. Get out."
This song doesn't really make fun of canada as much as you would think it does, Really, it's making fun of us moronic Americans and our God complexes. We all think it's appropriate to bomb anything in our paths, carry hidden weapons, and demand goods in exchange for our curency that just plain sucks right now. The Canadians have the right kind of idea, don't bother anyone and they won't try to kill you. Go wierd Al, Go Canadians, and let ACK replace EH!!! (they're both better than Huh?)
Actually, it is making fun of Canadians. Interesteing perspective though. I love the "don't bother anyone and they won't try to kill you" idea. I didn't think anyone was really that naive.
ah canda, best place to live in if you want to be healthy (im american and everything is crazy with the president's and global warming and terrorists and all that crap)
My GF is Canadian, and I think this is hilarious! The only Canadian idiots I can think of are the tools at Customs--same goes for US agents, lol. Pass the maple syrup, eh?
I have to say that I loved the song and the video (excellent timing) I'm the American half of a Canadian?American relationship and my boyfriend and I both laugh at this. And anyone who can't take a joke.. you can just move to QC and stay there
I'm quite that that I won't have to... well aside from the fact that I'm a girl. But my boyfriend's mom adds ooh yeah Eh to every sentance- she's from BC and I'm from NY
My bud and I took a driving trip through Quebec city and east for a month last year. The Canadian border guards were really cool. The American one in the Maine crossing we used were assholes. Just wanted to throw that in there.

How exactly was that relevent to anything I said? Honestly. My Boyfriend is Canadian and I like the country- wish I could move there. But like America they have their moronic citizens too

Ok I was just saying the truth. Some of you all are way too sensitive.
Chibihorsewoman 2 years ago
Bullshit.
johnnyponny4 2 years ago
Yeah the cost of living in America is definately nlower than the cost of living in Canada. My soon to be father-in-law makes about 20$ an hour and lives in what my boyfriend calls a gloryfied shack because of the cost of living and having to pay child support

You bonehead/ Have you ever been SICK in the U.S.? The health system is f*cked unless you are seriously rich. And the cities don't work at all.
zapkvr 2 years ago
You are right. I live in Windsor across from Detroit, trust me Detroit is messed up. And so are most American cities.
cwcwful 2 years ago
I have been sick in the US before! It was bad! :( They said I had gotton bit by some bug we don't have here in canada! They said that i would be fine after a few days, but NO! I come back here and they send me a doctor, IT WAS A BAD BRUISE!!!!!!!!!! >:( They gave my medicine for a BRUISE. All i needed to do was stick it in the snow~! lol.
spiritgirl2796 2 years ago 2
Of course the cost of living is lower. You have more poor people living in the U.S Hec, 2 million of them are in jail. Over a millon people have no permanent place to live, instead they live on the street. The U.S. goes to war to fight for the right of Iraquis to vote and yet she cannot even look after the most basic needs of her own people. Some goddamn society.
zapkvr 2 years ago 2

Get out."
cverlo 3 years ago
W00T!!!
(they're both better than Huh?)
missCeilidh 3 years ago
Actually, it is making fun of Canadians. Interesteing perspective though. I love the "don't bother anyone and they won't try to kill you" idea. I didn't think anyone was really that naive.
lohrtom 3 years ago
@missCeilidh You are right, Al isn't making fun of Canadians. He's making fun the the perception that the folks in the states have about Canadians.

The "aboot" thing is mostly out west. Here in ontario we've been americanized and say "abowt"
UnitedStatesOfCanada 4 years ago
I have a friend in Ottawa who says it "a-boat". When we were in Hell, MI on Father's Day weekend, some of the US guys were busting on him for that - then he starting talking about his pop-up camper - without missing a beat, I asked him "is that a boat trailer?" ;-)
