im a beginner quilter and havent started yet. im want to make a little baby quilt for my new niece. well the last time i attempted to make a quilt was a few years ago but the squares ended up being mismatched in lengths and the corners didnt come together right. is there a way i can avoid that?
@SuperMusicfreak17 Really the only thing you can do is to Square up your blocks before you attempt to put them together. Then they will all fit nicely. You can do this...Watch some of the tutorials on our channel to get ideas and confidence.
Is it really necesary to lick your finger all the time? ... is that a special technique?... I mean... are your quilts pre-washed before delivered? LOL
I am a beginner at quilting.. so new that I havent actually started yet, just trying to do my homework to gain as much knowledge as I can ahead of time. The statement you made that "you don't have to backstitch when quilting" I found very helpful. It probably saved me a lot of potential frustration. thanks
@cbeyer23 Good luck on your new venture into the world of quilting! You will LOVE it! Don't be afraid to ask questions...and don't wait too long to get started! That first stitch is usually the scariest! (or the cutting. LOL, that is pretty scary too!) Most importantly have fun!
I am not sure if someone commented on this but setting the stitches with the iron pushes, or melds, the stitches with the fabrics. It pushes the thread of the stitches down into the fabric, reducing the bulk. Hope that helps! Thanks for the tutorial! The quilt is so cute!
i wanted to make a quilt for my niece due in nov. i need to start asap!! but had no idea since i havent quilted before!!! thank goodness for your tutorial! saved me much time and im sure money cause i wont be making as many mistakes.. ill be handstitching.. hopefully ill be done before NEXT christmas lol

thx for all of these great ideas I can't wait to find out how to start using my sewing machine and get started on all of the MissouriQuiltCo projects thx again ;)
this is probably a really silly question but what is the green measuring guide thing you have on your work surface called and where can I get one? Also what is it made of as when you are cutting on top of it you dont' seem to cut through the actual green part?
@MsCread Not sure if someone answered your question about the green mat on Missouri Star Quilting video yet, but the mat is a "cutting mat" that the rotary cutter won't damage. It is "self sealing" so any cuts close up right away. They are expensive, but so useful! Buy the largest one you can afford - you won't ever regret it.

Just have to say how much I love, love, love your videos! For years I've wanted to take a quilting class, but my life way out in the country doesn't allow me to do that. Through your videos I've finally found a way to fulfill that dream! Thank you sooooo much! Missouri Quilt Co makes me happy!

Wonderful video. I am recently retired and have purchased several Charm packs through the Daily Deal. This video has given me ideas on how make a baby quilt. Keep up the great work!!
hi, This 4 part tutorial BABY QUILT TUTORIAL IS AWESOME! There are so many of the vieos i watched but nothing is as clear as this one.. andi just love to watch it over and over again.I have watched the other tutorilas too, like the dissappearing 9 patch. thts also really nice.. i cant stop thinking of these quilts untill i make one of them.. there is a baby on the way and i want to make one as soon as possible...
I absolutely LOVE your tutorials I feel so confident as a new quilter I have made the pillowcase and apron so far and they turned out great THANK YOU!!!
Jenny, on your suggestion I started setting my stitches before ironing my pieces open and I am not sure what it does either. I am also obsessed with pre-cuts now! Thanks for the great tutorial and I hope they continue.
This is awesome for someone who has never made a quilt before, like me. lol I love charm packs and layer cakes. They make it so easy to do a first quilt. Thanks for all your help. You are quilt saint of new quilters. lol
I loved this tutorial, especially the binding part, Jenny really makes it look like I can actually do it! I also like seeing Jenny in the tutorials, makes me feel at ease!
This was the first tutorial I found on google. I made a small pirate baby quilt and found the tutorial to be really easy to follow, much easier than trying to read the book I have at home. Love it!
I just love your tutorials. I stumbled on the first one and now i'm hooked - I had to watch them all. The timing is perfect for this video since I have to make two baby quilts for my friends this month. Looking forward to more tutorials!!
This is soo easy, thank you for sharing this tip! I never thought of making a baby quilt so easily! I am so thankful you are out here to help us new quilters learn how to make beautiful creations quick and easy!
I was so happy to see you do an entire quilt start to finish. There are so many block tutorials out there, but there are limited entire quilt tutorials out there. This is great for a beginner, because they can see a quilt start to finish. It is a great way to get people to finally make their own quilt. I have watched all your tutorials. I wish this one was on when I first started quilting. I learned most of my quilting knowledge from your website. Thank you for being such a devoted teacher
I have always wanted to make a baby quilt, and these videos give me inspiration to actually start one. (By the way, this is my entry for the $25 Gift Card Contest! Thanks!)

This was the first tutorial I found on google. I made a small pirate baby quilt and found the tutorial to be really easy to follow, much easier than trying to read the book I have at home. Love it!
