@GayComicGeek You replied! I'm so excited, it's like getting a celeb tweet! I avoid Hot Topic mostly, then I get dragged there and find cool geek stuff. Maybe I should go on purpose one day.
Yes he definitely should be able fight and destroy his enemies. If not it will be a disappointment for me. I don't think the writers will manipulate him into a humorous fashion though since I don't believe they did that with the other characters.
I actually think we need a flamboyant gay super hero. So far all of the gay super heroes are very straight-acting like Apollo, Midnighter, etc. If they're going to make gay heroes they need do get all sides of gays that includes the flamboyant gays. But I do agree on making him able to fight well. As for his costume ... well his energy fists are purple so might has well make his costume purple.
@GleeTeen13 Like I said, I don't mind a flamboyant character, but I want him to be like other heroes that's tough. That's the only thing I'm worried about.
Thats stupid about music some of my best videos got blocked. As far as Copyright. I mean hell your whole background (shirt)etc is comic. Im not liking where Youtube is going with this. Good review (tho) i dont plan on reading it. :)
Homosexual activists understand the power of words.
Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which famous atheist Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".
The word "gay" has helped homosexual activists push their dishonest agenda on unsuspecting people.
The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
Also, what do you all think about Striker from Avengers Academy (sort of) coming out? It was pretty unexpected but I'm liking the plot, especially with him worried about WHY he's the way he is.
I actually didn't realize Bunker was gay until I saw this video, and I didn't "expect" it even after reading the first issue so I don't think his hugging Red Robin was anything I'd consider too flamboyant, after all he was looking for him and considering that RR is on the run from the obviously-evil-haven't-you-seen-our-name organization, I'd be ready to hug him too. Not loving the costume though, not because it's purple but because it's boring, but it make sense since it's homemade.
I hope they don't use his sexuality as a gimmick, in 21st century society an individuals sexuality shouldnt be so so central to them, It's cool having the diversity, but not using them as their gimmick. Great video!
@RajjGupandajionline Thanks I appreciate the comic. Next issue we should be able to see him more in action. I was hoping in this issue that recently came out that he'd show his stuff, but nothing yet.
So idk if you did any reviews on these characters (Northstar, Shatter Star, Rictor, and Daken) but I would like to know your opinion on them. Oh and also Colossus (even though he's only gay in the ultimate universe.
Honestly, I don't know what to think of Bunker yet. I mean...there's not much to go on as far as his personality goes. His powers aren't too bad, I guess...
Ever notice how the majority gay characetrs int he marvel universe are monsterish in appearance. Like all of them seem to be heavily mutated in appearance. I just did a random search for gay characters in wiki pedia and I noticed that upon looking at a lot of the characters.
@cushe83 Which is a bit odd if you think about it, since Northstar was the guy who really ushered in openly gay Marvel superheroes, and he wasn't heavily mutated at all. Guess they're trying to say to you to look beyond the face.
I think it's more of a lasy attempt at establishing that these characters are different, even among those who are already considered different, by having them further mutated then other mutants. They probably could do the same if they developed the characters more. From what I've been reading some people feel, what ever they were trying to establish in the way of relatability to the character is kind of compremised because they are like literally monsters. kind of deep.
I'm just mad that when shatter star engaged in a gay relationship with rictor in x-force, they actually made him look gay. meaning he went from the kind of samuri-sh look that I was used to in the 90's to that goerge clooney e.r., ceaser. That irritates me.
I like it when you review characters, Paul. Very good video--you had smart, honest opinions. Though I do not think gay characters need to be made more butch. They do that anyway with characters like Midnighter, Hulkling, etc. Maybe we should have a few examples of more effeminate young men who are just as brave and tough. It is true that DC runs the risk of making Bunker the "silly gay guy", and it is true that many editors and writers are a bit out of touch with their MANY gay readers.
Just because he is Flamboyant does not mean he is a stereotype. I mean not every gay character needs to be written like all straight characters I think he is just a very easy going and easily excited person which is why he hugs Red Robin. Its a nice contrast from all the serious characters like Tim or Wonder girl. Also in the matter of the costume the reason its purple and lavender is the "psionic bricks" that he makes are purple/lavender and being rather fasionable he is probably matching.
@paganism2009 I agree. If you were to "butch him up" it would run the risk of making him "straight-acting" (I use that term loosely). There are already characters like Midnighter and Apollo (and others) who go against the flamboyant stereotype. I mean, maybe this is a good opportunity to show that flamboyance and wearing purple and lavender doesn't make you any less of a man.
Paul, Do you remember the character Extrano from the Global Guardians? That is almost 30 years o are repeating that sort of thing I think it's e to give up on DC altogether.
Im thinking that hes just very very new and inexperienced.. he'll make the normal mistakes that any new guy makes. hes also going to look VERY sad when hes standing next to Tim "Im a badass just because I exist" Drake. :) Course.. the bigger question is that once DC switches back to the REAL universe.. will they keep him? :)
Thank you !!!!!!!!! I need to look this guy up so that I can draw him as a bad ass. I agree that a Gay superhero need to be well a Normal guy not Flaming or and of the others. Make him the same they would do straight guys.

exactly, you had it down point with what I think most gay people are thinking. You can make him flamboyant, but he better not be weak.
