Alan Webbs legit high school record is like 3:58 or 59. His time in the pre classic isn't used for national records because it's not a real hs meet. If German ran with real competition he would've been under 4 easily.

While he is amazing, the Highschool record alone is 3:53.43 for the mile which is 9 meters more than the 1600. If German had someone to help him pace he may have shaved off a few seconds but not enough for a 3:53.xx

@frostie1315 I doubt that german will run the 800 and im fairly sure that his main race wont be the mile. Actually what do i know? Im not his coach and ive never even met the kid, ive just seen a few of his races. With the amount of records and other accomplishments hes setting/acheiving, it seems that he will have a very successful and hopefully not dissapointing career. Webb didnt meet up to expectations. if he gets back on track he could still take the 1600 record though!

@frostie1315 both of them have a shot, but its a long-shot. technically fernandez already has a world record, the junior indoor mile,( probably not what you meant though). fernandez has a lot of talent and if he keeps improving at this rate i believe that he could indeed set a legit record. I saw a video of webb stating that he believes he has a good shot at the 1600. he wa saying if he dropped half a second every year he would have the record when he was 28. in short, maybe, but probably not.

So in other words, if we were to convert Fernandez's 1600 time from State, it would be somewhere around 4:01.7, which is an amazing solo effort at the high school level.
