i know the comment wasn't intended for me, but i recommend anything by Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize-winning economist. Globalization and Its Discontents, and How to Make Globalization Work, are both really good.
Its a bit general, but No Logo is essential. Split in four sections about sweatshops and underpayment, branding, corporations taking over space and the anti-globalization movement. Very good read with lots of interesting facts including how much workers get paid for certain corporations.
