I'm really glad I wasn't an MGS fan when 2 came out, because otherwise I probably would've hated Raiden too, as it is I really like him. MGS2 was my first MGS and so I could relate to Raiden a lot, he was just a rookie like me, looking up to Solid Snake. I think 2 has a great representation of Snake. I mean when you play as snake, it's just that, you're playing at being Snake, but in 2 you fight alongside THE Solid Snake and that's just an epic feeling.

@beansandrice567 It's way more than 2 hours. It's not an exaggeration when people say that the cutscenes are longer than the game itself. I've watched all the cutscenes on YT (don't have a ps3) and it was at LEAST 6 hours. That said, they are very good cutscenes.
