@fr33dom88 pit bulls terriers aren't big, they should be between 22 and 16 inches tall, and 20-65 pounds. Any dog bigger than that is an american bully, big, blue, sloppy faces with hardly any neck, and they almost always have cropped ears. You can immediately tell a bull from a pit bull terrier by color, size, and mass. A bully will almost always be blue, the breeder will cnstantly brag about size, color, or the soze of it's head. They are typically between 70-120 pounds.

I also had two german shepherds, and one bit my hand really hard. So did my two golden retrievers. (i had/have a lot of dogs). It really just depends on how you are with them.

Why do people only give pit owners sh*t on having their dogs ears cropped? Do any of you realize that people crop either the ears or tails of Min Pins, Yorkies, Schnauzers, Boxers, Great Danes, Spaniels, Pointers and Dobies among a hundred other breeds? Cropping/Docking is not cruel if it's done by an experienced vet with proper aftercare. What you think Boxers are born with stubby tails? Do some research people.
Why would you continue to breed when there are thousands of pit and pit mixes in shelters all across the country. There is an epidemic of pit bulls dying in shelters. Spend a little time and go to a shelter near you (one that doesn't automatically euthanize pits) and see what percentage of the population are pits and mixes. It will make you sick what has happened to this breed. Their chance of adoption is very slim at best.
@CowieMooCowxo87 no you don't, dilute dogs(blue nosed, lilac) tend to get a skin condition that causes balding in patches and irritation, also backyard breeders tend to breed blue pits specifically for color, and sell them as "Rare Blue Nose" dogs. If I were you, I'd get a red, chocolate, or black dog which are better alternatives

My dad has a lab/pit mix that gets ear infections all the time never had the problem with my doberman that has cropped ears. Im sure its a less serious procedure than getting spayed of nuetered. Just to clarify, docking the tail is removing part of the spine. Not trying to be rude, but it isn't exactly the most humane thing, and docking the ears is removing part of their body. Think of it as someone removing part of your tail bone and taking of the helix, the upper part of your ear often called the cartilage.

Docking isn't painful and it's done in first week of their puppyhood by usually rubber band method that allows part of the tail to fall off naturally in time.I must admit,tail docking isn't just a cosmetic feature but in some breeds a necessary one!I got a boxer with docked tail but natural ears and wouldn't own one with tail,why?Because I compared the way my dog and other with tail act and behave.My dog seems free in motion but other behaves as bothered by the tail all the time.

Well they were created in a lab!Boxers,Pit Bulls,Dobermans and so on.Not everything's perfect that nature creates.I am against cropping of ears but tails just aren't for every breed to have.Reasons not cosmetic but fur on tails is too thin and tails position prevents free flowing movement.Check out cases where dogs broke tail's vertebra's because their coats weren't thick enough to prevent breakage against sharp edges like doors,walls,etc.

@kingkurry OMG! They are put under when it happens. And you can give them pain medicine. Dogs with cropped ears are actually less likely to get ear mites and ear infections. My dad has a lab/pit mix that gets ear infections all the time never had the problem with my doberman that has cropped ears. Im sure its a less serious procedure than getting spayed of nuetered. Don't judge people.

Hell, tomorrow vets may come out with new research that states cropping ears and tail docking shaves off additional 10 years of dogs life and you still probably would choose to practice this ancient ritual. Just to clarify, docking the tail is removing part of the spine. Not trying to be rude, but it isn't exactly the most humane thing, and docking the ears is removing part of their body. Think of it as someone removing part of your tail bone and taking of the helix, the upper part of your ear often called the cartilage.

Docking isn't painful and it's done in first week of their puppyhood by usually rubber band method that allows part of the tail to fall off naturally in time.I must admit,tail docking isn't just a cosmetic feature but in some breeds a necessary one!I got a boxer with docked tail but natural ears and wouldn't own one with tail,why?Because I compared the way my dog and other with tail act and behave.My dog seems free in motion but other behaves as bothered by the tail all the time.

Try running top speed with your arms tucked inside your shirt, it's the same feeling for dogs, and so they often run awkwardly to avoid loosing balance,and in that case, damage their legs. Docking can also damage the spine

It's not true!Hip dysplasia is inherited in some breeds(they get it more than others)regardless of docked tail or not.Also dogs overall fitness and bone quality and development(getting vitamins) is great factor how your dog will progress later in life.There are only few dogs in which docking is performed(Doberman,Rottweiler,Boxer),I only speak for my boxer as a breed-because I know!I was told and I am around people who train(security/police/protection) and show dogs.

Of course!It's in a way cosmetic but also has to do with the way dog behaves(with or without it).Boxers aren't as agile and free in movement in the yard or in house.They also have a habit to sit/leaning onto the wall(which they can't do with the tail)and many other things.Rotweilers,Dobermans,Boxers are all cuter with docked tails!

Foot binding in China was done to women for centuries, does that make that not cruel? And believe me, I do know. I've worked with dogs my whole life. If you are going to have your dog's tail docked, it needs to be done the right way, by a vet. It is a operation, the dog has to be sedated and then be on an antibiotic regimen.

Well they were created in a lab!Boxers,Pit Bulls,Dobermans and so on.Not everything's perfect that nature creates.I am against cropping of ears but tails just aren't for every breed to have.Reasons not cosmetic but fur on tails is too thin and tails position prevents free flowing movement.Check out cases where dogs broke tail's vertebra's because their coats weren't thick enough to prevent breakage against sharp edges like doors,walls,etc.

I am not a second best breeder in Australia that does it,lol.It was done by that procedure to my boxer when he was only few days old.I don't see anything wrong with him.Tail (spine extension) in that time isn't still formed into a solid bone so it's painless!As I wrote below,imagine the pain dog will endure if he broke off the tail just because the fur on it isn't thick enough to protect it from sharp edges?Position of the tail in some breeds is to their disadvantage!

If you want to support puppy peddlers that clog up the shelters that is one of the most irresponsible things you can do as a dog owner. The shelter I volunteer at has so many APBT and pitbull mixes forfeited that it euthanizes all males since there are so many coming in. Bullys are now starting to come in at a higher rate but they are not put down since they usually pass the aggression tests
