He was nothin more, than a ordinary keeper, with an good save here and there, but also often a catastrophy waiting to happend. He is way to unstable to even be considered amoungst the greatest in the keeper buisness. He had charisma and was flamboyant and very entertainig, yes, but it stops there.

What I like about Barthez is that he always manages to stun the attackers, they always respond like "Hey - what the hell? It's not in? How can that be? That's impossible!" And Barthez walks away like it's an every day save heheh. I also really like how he embaresses the attackers by playing them out himself.. Barthez has it's own very amusing ways.

Very eccentric, maybe not big enough but for pure reflexes and jumping ability one of the best ever. And no game was ever dull when he was in goal, the moment at 3:25 was classic Barthez, I once remember him dribbling the ball out once and getting trapped and back healing it to one of his teammates, classic!

Great vid. Good to see the majority appreciate he was a top class keeper. After all, he was a World cup and European Championship winner for one..... At United, yes he had some shocking moments, but he also produced many quality displays in his time at the club. The only downside to him, in terms of a managers view, was that he would take too many risks at times. Personally though, I quite liked the fact he had an eccentric side.
