  • Freemason?

  • he looks like he is on somthing here

  • i think our man jc's a bit wasted in this vid...love you loads tho johnny!

  • The song before this he was impersonating Elvis and messed his hair up to look like Elvis. He Isn't wasted.

  • @themuffin311 Johnny was wasted most of the time, missing performances regularly by 1957. Marshall Grant and Luther Perkins were considering going back to their old jobs because they weren't making money with all the cancellations.

Johnny said himself that for the first few years, he was a better performer onstage with the drugs. But by the early 1960s, the drugs got the best of him. He was addicted to the end of his life, and was clean only for periods of several years from 1969 on..

  • Thanks for the info random faceless youtube user.

  • @themuffin311 & to someone who is known only as "themuffin311", thanks for your bold, courageous step from absolute anonymity.

  • Stoned, cooked, crocked, or straight he would play his heart out for any show.

  • well..guys i have a question...i saw a movie of Johnny Cash called "Walk the Line" its about his biography...and when he was singing this song he was totaly on drugs...was he here on drugs too?please for answer...great song btw!

  • most likely, johnny struggled with drugs all his life

  • @AdamRamone1234 He was an addict, but managed to stay clean later in life

  • @AdamRamone1234 .. Not all his life! He take amphetamin from 1957-1967 and others (i dont know what) from 1979-1984! ;)

  • @Katzeleine he was a heroin addict

  • Yes i think he was, I know your comment is old but ya. Because JUST before he sang this he was making fun of elvis big time.

  • @FCpatrolac i just watched that film :) he doesnt look high on this video but it is possible he was

  • @FCpatrolac that movie was "loosley based" on his biography, John never fell out on stage as he did in the movie when they played this song. There are alot of "hollywood moments" in that movie that never took place. I really dont think John was high at this taping of Town Hall Party, I have the whole thing on dvd and not once do you get the impression that hes high.

  • @sittnonchrome .....I agree 100%, I didn't care much for the movie. Neither did Bob Wootton and he ought to know if anyone does.

  • @FCpatrolac That movie was so lame it defies description.

  • @FCpatrolac His life was more like the movie "Dewey Cox", check that one out!

  • @FCpatrolac Yep, he was on drugs on this performance. For the evidence i can say: Look in his eyes and pay attention on how he behaves on stage.

  • @FCpatrolac He was a well know tweeker

  • @FCpatrolac He sure is sweating like a horse.

  • Jail sucks

  • two words have never been so true

  • Legend. May God let you rest in peace. You will be never forgotten and forever missed. God bless you Mr Cash! You cheer me up when I'm down.

  • Thanks for sending tuktukskagal good video B & L

  • if you like jonny cash i reckomend you check out dane cash and the cripple creek 3! you wont be disapointed

  • on the movie walk the line when they do this song the part were he collapses was that a real part in his life where he fell on stage? If so any can find it for clarification thanks.

  • No I think it wasn't: There were some shows where he could not even walk because of the drugs, and some in which he couldn't sing because of them. But in the movie the stage collapse is just meant to "press a longer period into 5 minutes of the movie", if you see what I mean. There were lots of "catastrophes" happening with Mr.Cash in that time, but not that drastic as shown in the movie.

  • echazflim already gave a good answer, but i wanna add that his breakdown in the movie is mixed with his real faint (nearly) while picking up his plectrum.

  • Year well you know that was around 2000 or so, but it is true, this might have influenced that scene as well!

  • i wonder where i could find the real life video of that

  • my favorite Cash song :D YEEEAAAH

  • Which DVD is that on??

  • haha that was funny

    this song kicks ass!!

  • Yeah he owns!

  • That was funny what the bass player did with his comb lmao
