Holyfield, Tyson and lewis were the only guys who were on the level of being on the "legend map"...and in the 60s there was way more than just Ali and Liston, all the guys I mentioned fought in the 60s except maybe Foreman who was the youngest guy. And Patterson became a great a HW, he did become champ after all.

I think a prime Tyson would cause problems to any fighter past or present. The 60s-70s(considered to be the golden age of HW boxing) Alone included Champions and legends such as Foreman, Ali, Frazier, Norton, Shavers, Holmes, Liston, Patterson, Lyle, Quarry, Foley, Terrel, Foster, Chuvalo etc. Never has HW boxing seen 3 champions like Foreman, Ali and Frazier fight in one single decade(70s)

@403766 See thats the key, you listed them as Decent...which I agree but thats all they are, decent...their pool of fighters does not match up by any stretch of the imagination. Holyfield, Tyson and lewis were the only guys who were on the level of being on the "legend map"...and in the 60s there was way more than just Ali and Liston, all the guys I mentioned fought in the 60s except maybe Foreman who was the youngest guy. And Patterson became a great a HW, he did become champ after all.

@StrokeAndChoke Yeah Ali would beat any tall fighters anyday, he dominated tall fighters in fact such as Ernie Terrell who is 6 foot 7in tall. Lewis will absolutely have no chance against Ali, maybe against a 70s Ali he might make an interesting fight but against a 60s Ali he has no chance. Lewis had a very weak chin and I mean weak while Ali had one of the greatest chins of all time, Ali would be way too fast and technical for Lewis. Against 60s Ali I see Lewis losing a lopsided UD or late KO.

@vladiator100 There were only 2 times I saw Ali really in trouble. The first fight with Ken Norton and his fight with Ernie Shavers. I was glad when he came back to beat Leon Spinks after losing the title to him, he was a disgrace to boxing. Lennox Lewis would have no chance of beating Ali if they both fought in their prime. Ali could hit you from any angle and make it hurt. Lennox was very predictable and Ali would have exploited that.

No excuses for Norton and Frazier, he was beaten fair and square by two excellent fighters; but unlike Tyson, he came back to avenge those losses, twice apiece. Makes me laugh that you're accusing me of making lame excuses; like all Tyson fanboys, I bet you've got dozens of pathetic excuses for his losses.

Tyson fought chumps and he was no boxer. Marciano was undefeated yes, but he too was no boxer. he was a power puncherwith no finesse. All the others were average fighters at best. The only true master of the sport and science of boxing was Ali.

Ali,in his prime,was the best heavyweight I've ever seen. No heavyweight,in the history of boxing,ever faced tougher competition. Many of the fighters he defeated would have been champions in any other time period. Tyson was the most explosive fighter I've ever seen,but Ali would have defeated him. Just my opinion.

I honestly think a prime ali would cuase more problems for marciano than a prime Tyson, with the speed and reach. That being said your right when you say that Marciano was undefeated. Not an easy task in 49 proffesional fights. Ali and Tyson couldn't go 49-0. but i think some of their opponents were obviously more skilled thanm Marciano's. Still Marciano takes this.

I think a prime Tyson would cause problems to any fighter past or present. I'm not sure that a lot of people, especially from this generation, really understand how dominant he was in his (albeit short) prime. His chin was never questioned then because he was too damn slippery to hit. Everybody remembers the power but his head movement is what made that peek-a-boo style work. Once that went out the window, he started eating punches on his way in, and that was that.

Marciano wouldn't have survived 3 rounds against Mike Tyson circa 1987. In fact he never would have stepped into the ring to test the theory in the first place, knowing this.

I rank him higher than Tyson, but let's be realistic - all of his best wins (Louis, Charles, Walcott and Moore) came against men who were either aged and past their best (if not totally over the hill) or Light-Heavyweights. In some cases, they were both. And the computer bout proves nothing. An outcome where Ali won their 'bout' was recorded, too; however, as Ali was deeply unpopular at the time, they showed the 'Marciano wins' tape.
