  • I had 15 in 1989, so can you imagine the impac of this music in my life ?? Good memories, living in Lima Perú, San Borja, Strauss, cuadra 7

  • I was born in 1989 as well.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the year of Abdul- '89! I love this post.

  • what a great year for music

  • this is great but on michael damian's clip, you should have showed the "Rock On"

  • 1989 was the start of the decline of that great music era. When recorded songs still had meaning. However, with the heavy saturation of rap in 1990, it ended this great era of great music releases.

  • I Was born this year..this just tell you how OLD i am..LOL but anyway i can't believe how old this music sounds and just a decade after this we had BRITNEY,CHRISTINA AND AVRIL LAVIGNE ..this music sounds really old.. Oops i did it again by britney was a decade ago and it still sounds modern..but this didn't sound modern in the year 2000.

  • @ov7spears what sounds old, what seems not so old, but one thing is obvious for everyone - music from the eighties is real music, such really hard to compose and it will live forever of course, other thing for sure that everybody understand that Brithey, Cristina, Lavigne are absolute zero comparing to Estefan, Madonna, M.Jackson, Prince, A-ha etc. Sorry

  • Great memories!

  • i like this video...it's pretty cool

  • GOOD JOB! I love all of your posting. They remind you of memories, situations, and places that you might have been in at that time :-)

  • Watch our Billy Joel Parody!! /watch?v=ybpjKZzB7GE

  • Watch our Billy Joel Parody!! /watch?v=ybpjKZzB7GE

  • Watch our Billy Joel Parody!! /watch?v=ybpjKZzB7GE

  • the 80s were an awesome time for music...not much in 89 for some reason in my opinion

  • 1989 was my senior year in high school. Great times..

  • mmmmm Paula Abdul back in the day. I saw her in concert in 1989 in Detroit. She put on a great show!

  • Yeah, 89 was the year a lot of stuff began to change......

  • new kids on the block are probaly planning a come back as i speak!!!lol

  • i was born in 1989

  • bad songs.......ALL

  • I was 30 in 1989. Love 'The Living Years'.

  • too much Paula Abdul

  • 1989 was the best year of my life...and this crappy, sappy over synthed music had absolutely NO PLACE IN IT.

  • MILLI VANILLI!!! LMFGDAO BAM! GONE! lololol

  • MILLI VANILLI!!! LMFGDAO BAM! GONE! lololol

  • wow ty back to the best years of my life......memories.......

  • Dang, i was 18, and I had my whole life ahead of me, its kind of bitter sweet to listen to all these great tunes...................

  • This is the year that my son was born and it was a great year in music I love all of these songs and artists I think that this is the last great music year.

  • Thanks for posting those vids. Brings back alot of memories.

  • Phil Collins!!!!

  • Dear me, what a forgettable bunch of toons! Don't like Madonna much but her "Like a Prayer" song is the only track here that is even approaching classic status. Bleak times, and still 2 years 'til Nirvana.

  • muy buenos ... gracias por las fechas

  • sound track of my youth,, some goods and some bad songs but they will be with me,

  • lol its funny how people say "music now sucks, that era was the greatest of all time'. Every generation has said this and will continue to do so. One day the kids growing up now will be saying the same thing and then the next the same ad infinitum. Its all music, whether good or bad we colour it through our own life experiences. And while its true that music will never sound like this again, neither will there ever be another 60s, 70s or even 1880s. So kick back and enjoy all the sounds we have

  • Debbie Gibson wearing the hat reminds me of the Little Debbie girl on the cake box.

  • "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "When I'm With You," "The Living Years," "I'll Be There For You," "We Didn't Start The Fire" and "Another Day In Paradise" all rank among my favorite songs ever.

  • I graduated high school in 1989 and went to college the Fall of 89', it was a great time thanks for the memories.

  • there is a video for batdance

  • WHERE THE HELL IS TEARS FOR FEARS IN THIS, their song in that year woman in chains beats all of them hands down, 1989 has some memorabe tracks. glad the year i was born had some good music

  • beaurain82 - Paula's single "Forever Your Girl" went #1 in 1989 though her album "Forever Your Girl" was released 1988. This video clip shows #1 singles, not #1 albums.

  • Very well done video, I grew up in the 80's so lots of memories in this music.

  • Well there is ONE mistake here... Paula Abdul's Forever your girl was released in 1988 not 1989 however it maybe took a year for it to become a hit. BUT it was released in 1988 not 1989. (side not)

  • Milli Vanilli ! <3

  • Don't wanna lose you! aaaaaaaaaah!

  • 1989 was a very good year. Thanks for the memories....

  • WASN'T CIRCLE IN THE SAND OUT

  • where is belinda carlisle

  • She didn't have a #1 hit this year.

  • @APRIL62318 Thats what I wanna know to lol. Beleave it or not she is my 3rd cousin.

  • I love this year!! Nothing beats 80's pop music! Now days its just a bunch of crap I could get specific about it but why bother because 2000s and beyond is so horrible. Anyways thank you for loading these great job!!

  • WITH YOU 1000%!!!! Music IS DEAD! I don't even listen to today's music. Its all... hmmm, whats the word I'm looking for......GARBAGE! Long live the 80's!

  • Awesome job!

  • Awesome! Thank you for the compilation!

  • "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles is one of the greatest ballads of all time, period.

  • Debbie Gibson was hot back then, but when she was in playboy, WOW

  • my god talk about flashbacks

  • People aren't appreciating 1989 the same way people appreciated the music of 1969 20 years ago. Corporate control was in full hold at that time. And it seems only people who were very young (under 13) seem to fully appreciate the pop music of 1989, since it was some of the first stuff they expirenced first hand. (Myself included).

  • how bout bobby brown.

  • Smoked a lot of crack, drank a lot of booze, started beating his wife, then fell out of the spotlight in a dramatic way.

  • @1986toronto check the first minute of the video

  • i was 8 .great music bad life :/

  • I Love all these songs!! They bring back great childhood memories..Ecspecially NKOTB....Paula Abdul...and Debbie Gibson!!! : )

  • The Look by Roxette is awesome!

  • Although 1989 was far better musically than any single year in the current decade, yet

'89 musically was in my opinion the worst year of the 80s.

  • @TheEightiesRule I liked 87 and 88 better. Agreed!

  • @TheEightiesRule Agree with you 100%! The 80's was the last decade of great music!

  • @TheEightiesRule in some agree with you, but one thing should be added -

  • @TheEightiesRule agree with you partly, but first, you have to realize that it was time when music, namely pop music changed to other direction - house, etc. Otherwise of course pop music is dead now, but a lot of interesting things goin on in electronic music scene, which is independent in general, and more experimental . So I don't think that such comparison is absolute fair

  • What a horrible year for music. I mean seriously...just awful, awful stuff for the most part.

  • New Kids On The Block promotion was EVERYWHERE... on lunch boxes, commercials, fashions, and much more.

  • Isn't it a laugh that Vinni Vanilli had THREE #1s?

  • Great job, dude!!

  • Paula Abdul was the hottest thing in the business at this point =P

  • Out of all these songs, am I correct that Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" won Grammy for song of the year that year? It was a great year for music.

  • 80's rock

  • omg I feel so young right now.. I was 4 years old in 1989.. so, I remember very little of the 80s, but I love its music and its movies.. even if I don't remember much of it, I was born in that decade and lived half of it.. and also we have tv, internet, and movies to remember it pretty well.. love the 80s

  • in 1989 I was 14 years old and I love the 80's music and movies patty 33

  • I see several songs here its maybe on the nr.1 list hits, but they came out long before year of 89. Mike & The mechanics - The living years did release their album in 88..

  • Sherrif's When I With You originally was released in 1983.

  • go Paula she was the queen of this year

  • Straight Up? I thought that was 1987!

  • The album might have been released that year but the single did not reach number 1 until later.

I dunno, i would like to think the person who made these compilations did their research.

  • I've only heard about half these songs; I don't know about this music!

  • Hello,

im a fan of old music :p

and im lost the name of one number here i typ a sample: baby dont forget, bbbb baby baby dont forget.

I dont know if its the right lyric but can someone help me with the name of that song :D i want to listen it tnx !:)

  • Baby Don't Forget My Number by Milli Vanilli

  • One of them passed away. Milli Vanilli. I grew up in the 80s, graduated HS 1992, yes the 80's music is better than the watered down top 40 music of today. Music started to suck in the 1990's. Even with the threat of Soviets, nuclear missiles, etc. we felt safer in the 80's than today because we had a great president, and it was a peacetime period, we (the US) weren't fighting any major wars. One thing I miss from the 80's is my father, he passed away March 8, 1986 to a car hitting him at night.

  • Milli Vanilli ruled 1989. Too bad what happened to them

  • this was the decade i grew up and now having watched 88 and 89 i am embarrased! sooo weak!

    these 2 years are TERRIBLE!

  • I watched the whole thing, I didnt jump ahead even though it had 3 Paula Abdual vids and 2 NKOTB.

I also a brand new subscriber

  • Great video I miss 1980's Was in high school fall of 87- spring 91

  • I, too, miss the 80s! I also was in high school those years.

  • Batdance SO underrated! Prince should embrace that gem!

  • I would do Paula then and today!

  • Cool music. 80s rule.

  • Sadly there will never be anoth era like the 80's... Everything has gone down hill.

Music, style, people, movies and tv.

i also remember times when smoking weed or drinking beer then getting caught and the cops just bring you home (slap on the wrist)

  • I agree with you in so many ways this decade sucks

  • It's hard to believe I bought the 45 for "Batdance". It was the summer of '89, when it Batman was in euphoric mode. I was crazy for that song when it first came out, but 20 years later it's kind of been forgotten in the annals of Prince songs. I think his "Sign O' The Times" album (1987) was his last hurrah although he did put out a few good songs after that ("Cream", "Sexy M.F.")

  • Looking back, I bought less 45's in 1989 than I did in 1988. This was also when the cassette single came in vogue; the first one I ever bought was Technotronic feat. Felly's "Pump Up The Jam". I think the last one I bought was "Unfortgettable" by Natalie Cole in 1991--before the changing of the guard.

  • 1989 was, in my opinion, a weak year for pop music. Early 1989 was still a holdover from 1988 more or less but you can tell by the summertime there really wasn't anything that memorable from then until the end of the year. I think one interesting tidbit was the effect that freestyle had on the charts. As far as its overall appeal was concerned, 1989-90 were the peak years. 1989 was also the year of the comeback, as '70s artists had a one-hit wonder song (Donna Summer, Bee Gees, Doobie Bros.)

  • Poison, Every rose has its thorn is the best of them all!!!

  • Like a Prayer is an amazing song.

  • New Kids on The Block are the best! LOL Just kidding, I AM KIDDING! MILLI VANILLA, lol kidding again, I guess it has to be MADONNA and PRINCE due to their longevity and creativity to this otherwise dull business.

  • "I'll be there for you" probably one of Bon Jovi's best songs. also like Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire"

  • New Kid On The Block the best pop ever ! - Then in 1989 and now in 2009

  • memories and more memories!

  • Batdance was a terrible song and video, maybe it's best Prince does remove it.

  • Paula Abdul is the best!!!!!!!!

  • yeah, i agree. i think she was discovered on americans are idols tv show

  • good job

  • good job!

  • Madonna Like A Prayer is the BEST of ALL

  • Yes and look what happened! She was 20 years ahead of time as she kissed a black Jesus. Now we have a black president!

  • i know every song on here as well as the 1988 video and i was born in 88 now if u ask me who sings any new songs i'll have not a clue lol music sucks now 80's and 90's were the best

  • Can you believe that people born in that year can vote now.(scary) Milli Vanilli FOREVER!!!

  • So they say, smell evokes memory more than anything else, for me, it's music, song. I can hear a song and remember exactly where I was, what I was doing... this brings back so many memories... thank you for posting this video.

  • This was really well done. Thanks

  • Roxette n°1 in US ? from Scandinavia !

  • omg I feel old now cuz all them songs brought back too many memories lol

  • Good thing!!!!

  • Britney Spears can thanks Bobby Brown for "My prerogative"...

  • I was 14 in 1989 and hearing all those songs again brought back some fond memories, thanx. I think the world was a much better place back then.

  • agreed

  • I love the 80's!

  • Suprisingly there is no video of batdance. because prince is wasting his time now to remove his videos and then replaced by a picture of the batman movie which was out that year.

  • janet has 4 number one !!!!!!! there is only miss u much here

  • because all her other songs from that album charted in 1990 she only relised 2 singles in 1989

  • Her other 3 #1s were in 1990.

  • woop woop! Represent 1989!! :)

  • What a great video, keep up the good work.

  • Happy comeback, New Kids On The Block!

  • What's that thing on Richard Marx's head?

  • I don't know, but I think it looked at me.

  • LOL

  • I was taken back to 1989 I was 15 then DAMN great memories Thank you for posting

  • um yeah that takes me back!! nice work

  • I was born in 1992 and I know most of these songs.

  • Hahaha....I just remembered that we sang "Blame it on the Rain" in middle school choir back then. We should have just lip-synced it!

  • Damn...Paula Abdul ran 1989.

  • And then her career would crash in 1995, and she would go on to be a judge on a television show where they find young singing talent. How great is that?

  • wow i was only 16 and 17 years old i member all these songs!!

  • VERY nicely put together, I LOVE IT. I can't wait for other ones.

  • OMG does this bring back some memories!! Thanks for this!!
