Is there any copy protection on the DVD's your make?

When i insert a blank disc the recorder says 'preparing disc please wait' I then had a look at the disc before i recorded anything on to it and found a tiny line burned on to the inner edge of the disc. I placed the disc in my PC and it had the make and serial number of the recorder! Even though the disc was blank it still needed formating/wipeing as my PC said 'disc not empty'. I think its embedded a signal in the disc to trigger a copy protect of some sort in other machines its then played in!

I really don't have a clue, if hollywood can't do it 100%, then everyone is vulnerable.

One general question, if i want to add protection on my personal CDs and DVDs that none coould able to copy them, what software would you recommend?
