  • She sounds a little like Marianne Faithful here I think.

  • I love Loreena, but I didn't know that song. Her voice is so strong but always feminine, that strong is such different frome her "classic" songs. beautiful arrangement! :D

    UP Loreena!

  • Everything she sings is magical She is one of my favorite artists !!!!!!

  • very nice and beautiful -BEST VERSION!!! thank

  • being 500 years old, i've heard this song countless time, but only this version literally sends chills up my spine.

  • This is beautiful !

    wasn't it composed by henry8?

  • This is really good because it sounds as if shes actually speaking to the person, with the genuine feeling.

  • Very successful for an impromptu performance.

    Arif

  • Nice singing, and photos are very good :)

  • I love this version so much.. I think theres more heart felt with this singer, she is an exceptional artist, though I never saw the movie, this song makes me consider it. Thank you for uploading.

  • So much beautyfull! What a voice!

  • Loreena have really an wonderfull voice, Greensleves is a song write for Henry VIII for Anna Bolena.

  • @HIGHLANDER1487 That's a belief, but it's probably not true. But it's a romantic idea.

  • I could listen to this song for days.

  • This is transcendence, true spiritual heights. Religious dogma has got nothing on this.

  • Csodálatos zene és gyönyörűen illeszkedő képek. Szép a világ, de néha fáj is.

(Beautiful photos and beautiful pictures to fit. Beautiful in the world, but sometimes it hurts too.)

  • stupenda, wonderful song!

  • Said this another video but my first love who rejected me wore a shirt with lime green sleeves. She sent her cousin to tell me.

  • The best greensleeves version belongs to LOREENA ... My all !!! Nobody did like Loreena ... Everything is different . Every moment is saddness .Her'GreenSleeves' voice is great

  • awesome

  • I Have never thought this was such a beautiful song til now:)

  • Ohh... that is beautiful, plus those images are also so lovely. Namely the one at 0:43; I have googled and googled and have not been able to find that image. What did you search for?

  • @lja1993 it was times ago;) maybe it was deleted from the web, anyway you can try with italian words too (nebbia - foschia - altalena)

  • @lja1993 Its two months late but did you ever find that image at 0:43? I would like it too.

  • @lja1993 You got any luck on that one? Cause I want it too...

  • Loreena McKennitt's parents must have had beautiful thoughts the night she was conceived

  • Thank you for this beautiful video and my favorite song....was in Vienna and

loved that Danube and the area there. Mystical and lovely!

  • A kitsch clip for a great song

  • McKennitt is very talented, writes much of her own music, and has a good vocal range, and unique quality. This song was done impromptu while warming up to start recording, it was unplanned. It turned out so well they put it on the CD.

  • Definitely the best version of this song...

  • I wpould leave my wife and children, on christmas morn-

just hear her sing another verse

  • Just beautiful!!!

  • wow!!

  • Your wonderful voice with a mysterious legend ... no comment ... this is the spell!

  • I play this song with a guitard ! Saturday i'va got a concert :D i'm french sorry for my english :P

  • i hope she's on the soundtrack for project offset

  • Supposedly King Henry the VIII wrote the lyrics which were set to traditional music, and he was singing about Ann Boleyn.

  • I adore Loreena's voice and her music, but i think that this version isn't the top!

  • The song was written by King Henry VIII. For a maiden who he lusted for.

  • If you like this you might light like the theme from Romeo & Juliet! (Henry Mancini Orchestra) Early 60 Great Chit ;)

  • Ya all need to do your History lessons!

Written for a maiden by a king!

    this is a Great song!

    ;)

  • This reminds me of my hometown in Eureka, California. Same climate & similar magic, I think.

  • Love Eureka!

And this rendition of this song!

Bought her CD it is great!

    :)

  • I prefer Blakmore's Night version

  • thank u Gail for this share,,,you know how much i love Loreena..thank you for thinking of me...

    mary

  • what else can i ask for having heard my beloved Loreena and seen trees, waters and skies in their most magical moments

not a word more to be said!

    krysana

  • shorty

  • perfect song at 10:55

  • la voz de Loreena con la guitarra de Ritchie Blackmore, sería maravilloso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She has beautiful voice but I think it will be better if she sung it like in original song

  • Which original...the one written in 1580? The one sung by Debbie Reynolds in the movie How the West was won? the one Vaughn Williams arranged, or the one we sing at Christmas....

  • Comment removed

  • I wish she sang it normally, not that this versions bad, I just like the orignal

  • this song is so important to me xD

    i love this song

  • This song is beautiful. Didn't Henry VIII write this for Anne Boleyn?

  • Yes - and it was a backhanded compliment because a "greensleeves" was a woman of easy virtue!

  • LOL really? :O I didn't know that. So I guess that it is not so romantic afterall :S lol

  • Well, remember, she kept him waiting for a long, long time - I daresay he had his doubts about her!

  • It is still a very....Haunting song ;) Learning it on my piano, not that tough of a song but I love it! and this rendition is unreal!

    IMHO

  • Not technically. There are multiple definitions of the song, and the fact she "cast me off so discourteously" could symbolize Ms. Greensleeves was far from a prostitute. The more accepted idea was seeing as green as a delightful, spring color during that time period. Or a gown a very rich woman could afford.

  • A "Greensleeves" was a flirt, a tease, someone who played around with men in a way which wasn't considered acceptable at the time. Not a prostitute, but definately dangerous.

  • thank you thank you thank you! i've been looking for this version of the song

  • elle est magnifique, Mlle. McKennitt

  • Love the photos!

  • Szép képeket választottál...

  • sad

  • to nerdydumbgrrrl, it is very sad... but in too many cases, this is so true... and no words can we think to fit such a thing than this melody. Trust me there. But from such pure emotion comes beauty.

  • Oh! Great,,,,Loreena voice ,so beautiful!!

    Amazing!

    Thank you very much.

  • love this music

  • first song I played live on guitar... wish I could find someone with a voice like this to sing with

  • I use to listen to her every night when i was a child. I couldn't sleep unless I heard her voice. Now I listen to her voice and gain a new respect for it. For now I see it more than the enchanting voice that would sing me to sleep. Her voice is simply bliss

  • Amazing song.

  • The video blends perfectly.

  • She is just goddess of song put here on this earth for us to be enchanted with everything she does. I just love hte way she dresses and presents her work.

  • i love her the most beautiful voice i ever heard

  • Loreena Mckennitt, una voz hermosa y particular... mágica , te transporta a diferentes sensaciones en su melodia y letra. Me encanta Maravillosa!
