You shouldn't be using 128kbps even if you dont have portapros. Holy damn I don't get how people can listen to it when you can get higher bitrate for about the same filesize. I don't use FLAC. I think FLAC is for music archiving really, because the difference between it and V0 is pretty transparent.
I think they look better than most modern headphones. Heck, I think most designs looked better, 25 years ago. Nowadays everything is all swooshy looking for no reason and you can tell some industrial designer somewhere was just trying too hard to impress. Plus, a little nostalgia is charming.
I like your review but I'll like to disagree with the Bill Gates think you mentioned. Although he is a very wealthy man. And did you use cnet's review on these as a reference. Very nice.
The bass is a notch boomier on the Koss Portapros than they are on the Sennheiser PX 100s.
But I haven't noticed any distortion, even at the higher volume levels. And they are not annoyingly boomy like the Vmoda earbuds or the Senn 265s or others I have heard.
The other alternative is to spend 69 dollars on the Grado SR 60s, which are a step up from the Koss. You might be happier with them
For 30 something bucks, the Koss are WAY better than anything else in that price range.
Thank you for your response. I think I'll be picking one up now since the Grado SR 60s are a bit over my budget. I did more research on the Portapros and I think it is the best and cheapest alternative for me.

Thanks a lot I bought it.

Do you think they have too much bass. I've heard from other reviews that they are a bit bass-heavy which is keeping me away from buying them.
