klotzstang (1 month ago) Spam Marked as spam I will paypal $25'00 to the first person who posts Eric Clapton actdally playing this piece. It nust be an actual video, not a slide show or background .
I will paypal you $50.00 if you post Eric Clapton actually playing this piece. $100.00 if you can find a CD, LP, record, or cassette with Eric Clapton actually playing this tune. Mason williams recorded this piece several times, since the 60's when he wrote it. On the other hand, EC recorded a lot of his own songs several times, as have most others in the music bussiness. Good luck finding, it does not exist.
CHANGE THE TITLE TO INCLUDE MASON WILLIAMS! cause when a Mason Williams fan see's this video in related vids, they click on it JUST to leave a crappy comment!! it'll save u a lot of time and arguments.
btw this is a lot harder to play on steel strings... good job
I love how every video you watch of Classical Gas there are always a bunch of people arguing about who wrote this song. It is a fact that it was Mason Williams, yes, and some douchebag out there wrote the filename 'Eric Clapton - Classical Gas' and people started downloading that and posting videos and blogs and forums saying Eric Clapton wrote it. That's how this whole mess started. So come on people, don't let one person's mistake take away from our peaceful capabilities :)
Clapton never covered Gas. Mason's issued a statement about this on his site. There are a ton of incorrectly attribued versions of Gas floating around. My husband is a protege of Mason's. Check out his stuff. Search for Sinai 48 on youtube, and also itunes, amazon and wherever else you can search! My husband also does an AMAZING version of Gas.
just a little hint. The section after the run up you're just playing the a string in the bass, in all the versions i've seen it goes a g,g,d,d,d. but otherwise a nice recording
Eric Clapton never recorded the song, in fact the version that this fag is playing is from Mason Williams 1971 album... And where the fuck did you find the BS info that it says that it was Eric Clapton...
Awesome job! I just started learning using Mike Herberts (sp?) and I hope I can play it half as well as you in a few months! Thanks for sharing your talent!
There is a common misconception that Eric Clapton performed this song. Clapton to date has never recorded "Classical Gas". The misconception comes from the fact that Eric Clapton performed the Soundtrack to the movie The Story of Us; however, the version of "Classical Gas" on the soundtrack is from Mason Williams' 1971 album Handmade.
Clapton never did this song. The reason people think he did is because Gas was included on the Soundtrack to The Story of Us, but if you read the liner notes, it is actually the Mason Williams version from his unplugged album "Handmade" back in 1971. Check out wikipedia too, Clapton never did this song.
yea, but honestly, dont get me wrong, uv done a fucking great job of the song, its just the rythm is off a bit, still very good though, keep up the good work!
great job man! im just a beginner at guitar and can only dream of one day being able to play that song. keep up the good work!

2. Classical Gas is one of the best ever.
3 Youtube has been around for a long time.
4. Why has anyone not posted an actual video of Eric Clapton playing Classical gas? Answer: Nobody can, as he never recorded it.

Clapton has nothing to do with this song and never has. He never recorded it, never played it in public and this is just a stupid myth.
I love old Clapton but stop trying to give this song to a guy who had nothing to do with it.
It is Mason Williams song and that is just a fact.
