  • is ironic because most of the Djent bands have "core" elements in the instruments and vocals, examples in this vid: volumes, monuments, structures, we are the illusion, periphery...

  • the awkward moment at the *shitty band continues to play too long* part when u realize you've been listening to this not even deathcore / not even djent crap all the way

  • I just found what is THALL "/watch?v=KnaClnVnj_c"

  • this is so bloody funny

  • Thall.

  • Thall thallthallthallthallthall Tosin Abasi, Tosin Abasi

  • meshuggah is the best, the end

  • needs more thall bell!

  • LOL I love djent, but I find this video funny as fuck. Thall.

  • what is the thall he is saying??

  • simple solution to this

    Deathdjent

    everybody wins

  • I'm loving the Arbiter reference...

  • seems arbiter themselves made this video....that explains quite a bit :P

  • Life is subjective. All hail Bulb.

  • I like good djent and core bands as well as other genres, its all metal to me, getting a thall shirt without having it be every other fucking word in my mouth. Don't give a fuck, do what you want, enjoy what you like and find something to live for and hold onto it.

  • THALL = Top Comments? Y'all clearly didn't get the point of the video!

  • Hahahahaha!!! Brilliant :D Pffft, there is good stuff in all genres. But there is also lots of shit in them too >.<

  • I have a fever. And the prescription is more thallbell.

  • Also; impractical hair cut is impractical.

  • This is the best, haha.

  • Djent: Making it uncool as fuck to even talk about the universe and space since 2008.

  • Djent o Core... cual de los 2 más bastardos Dx

  • When will people learn that "djent" is not a genre, it's the name for a guitar technique. there's also a difference between "djenting" and having your gate on 10! these kids need to learn!

  • i think everyone here is forgetting about all the "TRUU" metal fags who hate anything under either label for having breakdowns.

  • I like both. This was funny as fuck though!

  • NWOAHM.

  • Both suck, we'll leave it at that

  • Haha the comment about all the "core" songs being about killing cheating bitches is rather close to home

  • Uh... isn't Arbiter djent(y)?

  • Haha both are good.

  • As if djent isn't just another kind of core... lol.

  • ITT: Elitist faggots butthurt about their lack of Preparation H

  • Fredrik Thordendal!

  • Both suck anyway

  • I don't argue over genre or anything. Every genre has great potential, but once it becomes popular, a lot of the originality is drained out of it.

  • @YugiohMaster199 This is why you should only listen to obscure dark ambient glitch jazz fusion with post-rock elements.

  • @Loliciousfuga I mean, that's when a genre gets a bad name; when everyone copies the formula and does nothing to add to it. Anyway, that very niche sub-genre you mentioned sounds amazing and if you have anyone that sounds like that, please recommend them to me.

  • @YugiohMaster199 well said

  • I'm sweaty from embarrassment. I'm so glad I don't know anyone like this

  • oh my god this is awesome

  • Just listen to all good metal. End of.

  • oh my god, instead of all the djent/deathcore kids realizing how stupid they look through this video, they are actually re arguing the points. fucking retards.

  • @samfulfordskates hahahahahhaha

  • @samfulfordskates I'm not a djent kid, pal :) <3

  • @trace632 I dont care?

  • @samfulfordskates Yep. It's totally hilarious.

  • I love the conversation this has already sparked. It only proves more of a point of the people that get into music like this!

  • @xrybearx Nothing has proved any points, and if you're going to try to generalize about "djent kids," then you can also generalize about deathcore kids who think their bands are the "heaviest" and most "br00t41," which apparently makes them badasses. You also can't forget their "hatred" for anything that doesn't have breakdowns, a.k.a. usually bands with talent.

  • @trace632 Why are you telling me this? You obviously misunderstood me when I said getting into music like this. I didn't mean by the type of music at all I meant the way they get so overworked about genres. This is so funny how much more true this video is becoming.

  • @xrybearx I was simply telling how most "-core" kids are with their so-called brutal music. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • Post-hardcore and hardcore aren't metal.. Even for an artificial being, that -core kid is fucking stupid.

  • pee ef ef ef ef ef ef t-yeah I know!

  • I know Tosin Abasi but what is THALL?

  • @onspeeds VILDHJARTAAAAAAA

  • @Anight7mareX what's that?

  • @onspeeds An insane band

  • @onspeeds THALL is thall

  • @DiabolicalFate what??

  • Comment removed

  • need more pirated music production!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO

  • @1:30 Sounds like Arbiter is into Pantheism

  • hahahaha this is awesome

  • Post Hardcore and deathcore fucking suck.

  • @axedstoninst I also like to generalize an entire genre of music because some bands bands I don't like are unimaginative. This applies to every genre of music I don't like as well

  • @axedstoninst So does djent.

  • @Blessthebreakdowns Djent has a hell of a lot more talent than deathcore does. Twice as technical and it actually requires knowing something about music, unlike two-chord chug bands.

  • @trace632 two times a really low number is still a really low number.

  • @trace632 I don't like either genre. Both are fucking shit and full of egotistical douchebags jacking off over how many breakdowns/how "heavy" their sound is (Ie: how inhuman they can make their vocalist sound), or jacking off over how many sweep-picking riffs in odd scales they can fit in the space of 90 seconds.

By the way, technicality=/=talent. Anyone can learn to play music technically with enough practice. Playing like a robotic machine doesn't make you talented, playing with emotion does

  • @Blessthebreakdowns One, djent doesn't revolve around whatever you just described. Many of the bands use some of the most emotional melodies that are in modern heavy music, i.e. Periphery, Corelia, etc. Don't generalize about things you obviously don't know about because it sounds more like you're describe some kind of technical/shred metal, which djent most definitely isn't. Bulb, along with Tosin Abasi, are some of the most emotional guitarists now and you can very much hear it in their music.

  • @trace632 I was just taking the piss to see if I could get some kind of reaction out of you :') I actually love both genres, but you are exactly like the characters in this video, and that's pretty sad.

  • @Blessthebreakdowns Um, definitely not. Considering I listen to both, but deathcore only in certain cases and both of them being the least of what I listen to, I'm not elitist about either. I simply know that most djent artists will know more about songwriting than some deathcore band that only plays the saturated style that has been popularized by Hot Topic trash, i.e. Suicide Silence, Chelsea Grin, etc. which is constructed of simple, boring 'riffs' followed by simple, boring breakdowns.

  • @trace632 You're literally near enough repeating what the "djent" guy in this video said with your comments regarding breakdowns and whatnot.

The fact that you don't see that is just sad. Sigh

  • @Blessthebreakdowns My point exactly.

  • @Blessthebreakdowns I may sound like the djent kid in my opinions of useless breakdowns that add nothing whatsoever to a song, but as far as being overly obsessed with "thall" or AAL, I am not.

  • @trace632 The video was clearly over-exaggerating for comedic effect by repeatedly mentioning those names, the fact is if you look at it from a more realistic perspective, you match the identity perfectly. & really, I can't think of any other way to describe that than sad

  • @Blessthebreakdowns That has nothing to do with me. I hate generic breakdowns. I happen to somewhat enjoy djent. That is the only thing I have in common with the 'djent' kid of this video. End of discussion. Thanks.

  • @trace632 You do realize you sound exactly like the "Djent" kid in this video right? They're actually not, you haven't heard shit especially within the circle of bands that are like Periphery and Animals as Leaders if you think they're the most "emotional". Do you listen to Jazz at all? You haven't heard groove or melody unless you've actually delved into Jazz or anything related to it. If a musician creates something new in metal, they're praised, just shows how the variety in this music is so

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic I don't sound anything like the djent kid in here. I happen to listen to many styles of music, from metal to punk to progressive to folk and many in and far between. I'm not saying that those two players are the most emotional guitarists today, but in the heavy music scene, they're pretty up there because that's what djent relies on: ambiance and emotion, or usually it does. And metal isn't the only genre that is praised when there are new things created in it. But

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic considering you're looking specifically at a genre that is ever-changing and ever-expanding, how does it not get acclaim from those who listen to it? And djent is far more than "a lick," as you say. It's a completely different style of playing than pretty much every other metal subgenre.

  • @trace632 You did through that comment you posted. Point is, Djent, is not evolving. There's too much of it, and it's all stuck in the same place just like Deathcore, it's not going to get that much different anymore without someone trying to sound different really hard. You could honestly use that ever changing argument for every genre out there, but it's certainly not. And on the whole emotion topic, they're not. farthest thing from it infact, Javier Reyes on the other hand, there's something

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic And metal not ever-changing? How about you look at death metal, power metal, black metal, thrash metal, or whatever else 20 years ago and look at it today? There is a drastic difference. And metal has some of the most diversified subgenres in a type of music. What other genre takes influences from punk, hardcore punk, jazz, folk, opera, symphony, etc. and uses them to make a palette of musical styles, sometimes utilizing more than one of them at a time? I don't think of one.

  • @trace632 No I don't expect you to list anything like that, but I honestly doubt you're well versed in other genres that much to say you actually listen to them. Metal hasn't changed, All those genres started decades ago, that was change. Ever since it's been rehashed metal with something in-between all the sameness that makes it worth listening to. Progressive Metal has always sounded progressive, no one's breaking new ground at all. Music like AAL and Periphery have always been here, no one

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic You can doubt all you want, but I know what I do like and I really couldn't care less what some random Youtuber has to say about my musical tastes or "lack thereof." And I'm not going to say that djent has evolved in the past year or so, but no one can deny it was covering new ground. It's people that ride the coat-tails of their successors that make a genre less forward-moving because of their laziness.

  • @trace632 Notices until it starts getting popular, I don't care what you listen to frankly. You do sound like the Djent kid in this video, minus all the fucking retarded memes. You're defending a style of music that has been at a standstill for quite some time, everything you listen to has been here for a long ass time. Just because they're popular now doesn't mean they're breaking new ground. It just means that other people are going to copy the shit out of this.

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic And what does it matter if I share some of the same opinions about stupid-ass, talentless breakdowns? I'm sorry, but talent is not throwing out random profanities and angst-ridden themes in front of two chord chugs. I'm not looking at that from a 'djent' perspective; I'm looking at that from a perspective of musical integrity, which most deathcore does not have, considering it's even worse at rehashing than djent is.

  • @trace632 It's honestly not worth arguing about. And don't assume I'm from the "Core" crowd, death core is entertaining but it is nowhere near as good as any other genre out there. And like I said "Djent" has been around for quite sometime. It broke ground in 2005, and has stayed the same until now so yes, I can deny that it has progressed in the last year.

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic Not as argumentative, but I didn't say it progressed in the last year or two. I said you can't deny that it covered new ground when it was first being created.

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic But that's where I end my argument. I'm done with this entire thing. It's a waste of time.

  • @trace632 to talk about. I'm not trying to like rag on you or anything, but that's not a variety of taste at all, there's so much more out there besides those things you named. they're up there, but every person I meet that identifies with the Djent kid, are the kind of people who will spend all their money on "Tobama" shirts and whack off to Tosin's playing the entire time. That pisses me off so much, AAL is a talented band, but there's so much fucking focus on Tosin when there's a band behind.

  • @JonathanAmaralMusic First of all, do you really think that's the only things I listen to? Do you really expect me to write down everything I actually enjoy? The obvious answer is no. Apparently you didn't pay attention to "many in and far between." I mean, really. And I'm not some tool like that with Tosin. I appreciate bands like Periphery more than for their guitarists. For example, Matt Halpern is a great drummer, but obviously doesn't get the attention Bulb does.

  • @trace632 limited, that people get excited when someone throws a lick in a song and gets it labelled.

  • The way it says 'chugachugachuga' sounds extremely Swedish haha.

  • THALL

  • This is amazing. But you didn't make "Core"-Guy angry enough.

  • Can you guy made subtitle for this?

  • @onspeeds yup turn on annotations and there's subtitles now :)

  • Comment removed
