Even though this program is based on the 1939 film it is NOT an official sequel to the film. It was only created to publicize the 50th anniversary of the film. The Land of Oz was a DREAM in the film and Aunt Em and the farmers didn't believe Dorothy went away. The only official sequel to the 1939 film is the 1974 animated film, "Journey Back to Oz," where Dorothy bumps her head again and dreams that she returned to Oz.

This is indeed on DVD. You can get all episodes except for two of them (this one and The Day the Music Died)

so on accident months before the 2nd season of Captain N and TAOSMB3.DiC decided to make a Wizard Of Oz cartoon for ABC.Because already Captain n was going to be on it's 2nd season.

Brings back good memories. You'll never see shows like this, tiny toony, the real ghostbusters and others ever again. Now people have to deal with nothing but trash. Oh well at least we have our memories.

@ThePathOfALegend actually this cartoon is trash. It's horrible! Kids are lucky these days to have way better cartoons that we did in the 80's. The last decade brought us some of the best cartoons ever, Samuai Jack, The Power Puff Girls, Sponge Bob, Flap Jack, Dexter's Lab, and more. We had garbage in the 80's like this wizard of oz. Any good cartoons we had as kids were made in the 40's and 50's and 60's.

@fukimotoz how about ninja turtles , Rescue Rangers, Captain Planet, Astroboy. The simpsons when it was a good show... + they used to still air the old cartoons like smurfs, scooby-doo, jetsons, all the warner bros stuff...
