I am definitely buying a double axis pedal. I just don't know which one..I know the X series is a bit cheaper but less adjustable...The A series has more room to customize, but does it make a huge difference? How much tweaking did you do to your A series to get it to your liking? I know it's personal preference, but I just want to get an idea of how much you take advantage of the adjusting you can do. Thanks for the video!
I have used my iron cobras with extra high tension springs turned to max, I was wondering if the axis pedals are just too different to play? And is it stupid to buy the X-version? The adjustment thing sounds really useful and important to get the right feel.
Also do they brake easily? Some say you need to maintain them very often, some say the opposite.
Extremely informative and helpful, but I feel slightly intimidated by adjusting and setting up an Axis Longboard double pedal. I think I may go the Trick Dominator route. Thanks for the rundown!
Trick pedals, demon drives, axis, DW... what's the best ? Just go to a local shop and try them out. Don't hesitate to drive over an hour to your location, 'cause it's serious that you must feel the pedals yourself :)
Some like Demons more then Axis, some otherwise, some take Trick, other DW, iron cobra's etc..
Hey I’ve Bought the Axis a Double Pedal a few months back its working great but I’ve Noticed that when I try to move the Beaters back by adjusting the screw in the spring Id adjust it to where I Want it then I would push down on the pedal then I would hear a clicking noise and the pedal will go back to where it was previously. Do you know what would cause this?
hey man im a hardcore/metal drummer and i have been looking at the axis and pearl demon drivers, i am getting a knee reconstruction in the next month and need to know what pedals are better and smother so i dont have to worry about my leg getting sore when i play shows, someone help me and tell me what pedals are better!
If I ever get the money I think I'm gona go for a pair of trick pedals... I dont have much problem with taking some time fixing with stuff on the pedal. but all this??!! no thanks + I live far from anny good stores selling those extra parts you need.. eatherway probably not going to buy anny soon becaus of the prise!
However, these pedals seem to be pretty darn complicated. I watched this video 'cause I am in the market to replace my 15 year old DW5000 double pedal.
I thought I'd look at these 'cause I recently saw an article in which Gavin Harrison talked about the longboard.
@Atragnis you can put the ekits on every pedal. when you use a connection rod for double bass you have a slave drive (the left pedal when you are right-handed). for every pedal 1 ekit.
@gigijohny lol i mean like axis a or axis x, what i sorta meant if the beater, like theres the regular beater on the x i think and the a has uhh, sonic hammers? do the heads make a difference?
@replay91100 axis A has the variable drive lever which can completely change the feel of the pedal. it can go from light to heavy just by moving the lever up or down. i just got axis A longboards yesterday and i love the VDL
@gigijohny i mean have they big differences because axis x is cheaper than axis a and i am between buying demon drive or axis x longboards!but i think axis are better!!i haven't play none of them and i don't know the differences!thanks!
@lucci97 i bought the demon drives[mistake], have played the trick drums pedals [all of them, overpriced and sucky], iron cobras [laggy], speedcobras [laggier], powershifter [laggy], speedkings [old], and i prefer the axis to every single one of them. Axis A's
@RiseWithTheFalen4 Saying Iron Cobra and especially Speed Cobra "LAGGY" is pure bullshit and biased, man. I've never tried the Axis before so i cannot compare.
Both the Iron Cobra and Speed Cobra is smooth, sturdy and has lots of power. The Speed Cobra has NO LAG or what so ever.
If you truely said Speed Cobra is "LAGGY", you deserve to get stabbed in the neck.
@IntakeDeathification how about you either prove what you're saying, and come stab me in the neck, or pussy out like every other youtube warrior. nobody is ever as tough in person as they are behind their keyboard.
@RiseWithTheFalen4 Haha real funny. Ironically, Mike Portnoy uses the Speed Cobra and he says it's smooth and fast and the name is "SPEED Cobra".
The fact is maybe there's something wrong with your leg. I've tried them and they are my favorite.
Comparing Speed Cobra to Axis is like comparing Lamborghini and Ferrari... And saying Speed Cobra sucks is like saying Lamborghini sucks because it isn't Ferrari...
And yeah mike portnoy likes it, but he also doesn't play extreme metal, im not saying the speed cobras are all terrible im simply saying that Axis makes a more flexible, durable, and reliable product than tama
it has nothing to do with my leg, it has everything to do with my experience, and clearly more extensive drumming expertise
@losdrums demons are kinda overrated, but also rather smooth, axis are very good, extremely light, and they just take a while to customise because of the high ammounts of different allen keys (provided) trick pedals are smooth and infinitely customisable, but cost more, so whatever you really want.
@AarontheSquid the slave pedal if set up to the same hight and same beater angle i personally feel absolutly no difference all though keep and eye on the pedal to see if the slave slips lower then the other board because it does happen
yeah..i know. let say,u dont really know how to play(beginer) n u buy those drum kit that is super expensive(example like mike portnoy kit). no point also. :D
This just looks a bit too complex, the new peal drum pedals are so easy to use and are so smooth its just easier to buy them, no offense :) but i like the fact you can trigger the pedals rather than the hoops, that is pretty damn cool
axis... i played both at the 2009 Namm convention. trick pedals felt terrible. i actually bought the axis A-2s because of how good they felt after playing them, not because "so and so" uses them... and i couldnt be happier.
i actually experimented with the demon drive long before they made their United States debut. Good friend and drummer for a japanese pop/thrash band called FACT toured with us, and that was what he used. i got to play o them. they felt no different than a bulkier version of the eliminators. the only cool thing about them is the U-Joint Assembly. but its not as cool as the thermo-lock assembly you get with the Axis series. what other pedal can you bake at 350 for 10 minutes?! haha
with the double pedal, is it possible to detach the connecting rod and secondary spring assemply and re-attach the spring assembly to the secondary pedal and u have 2 single pedals?

@cpmeeter2
you can take them apart and use them as 2 single pedals

why do axis double pedals have an extra beater holder on the slave part of the pedal

@Villex93 hey dude
axis are different (like every direct linked footboard)
the VDL (variable drive leveler only on A-series) is the part that makes Axis unique.
once i set the pedal the way i like it .. it stays =)
if you have more questions just PM me
