Video games are like movies that you control. You don't see people saying movies make kids more violent because it is a trillon-dollar industry. People see video games as weaker than movies.

Violence in video games is an overly exaggerated argument that I'm sick of, video games do no harm to a child, video games have ratings and if little Timmy goes and buys GTA4 and kills someone, why is the game at fault, it's rated for a reason, it's the parents fault and they just don't want to take responsibility for it. Games are an easy target because of the mass variety that it has, there is going to be a few questionable games, but it won't lead a kid to go kill somebody.

The second I heard Jack Thompson, I had to dismiss this entire documentary... Anyone who is sympathetic to his views cannot be taken seriously. People seem to forget that games are just games, they are fun, and that is it. They do not lead to real world violence. Also, violence crime rates have gone down since the 1990's, which is when the videogame industry began to get bigger, so these claims of violence are irrelevant.

truth be told i don't think that any person thinks of the people in gta as real humans or even human at all, they just are, otherwise what are we doing when we verse each other on mortal kombat or halo, are we killing our best friends? no, when we get a "kill" as such, we say, nice work, you really snuck up on me there lol and then we try again, in real life we could never try again let alone kill our best friend or even that cocky little American teenager whose bad mouthing you. read next post.

it should be taken into account that everyone experiences things differently in there mind and some people might be affected by these games if there life is shit and there mind isn't in the right place but even though most of us can withstand the idea of taking games literally, we should always be careful because we might end up obsessed and if we aren't getting the right amount of love and support in our lives, especially from our own parents, as teenagers we can get extremely messed up.

deathnote prolly does the same thing I do in a violent video game: turn on some cheats like god mode and infinite ammo and have a lil "excitement" that should never be imitated in real life since its after all just a game regardless of what people think there is a VERY good reason that these games have either a T or an M rating and very rarely an AO rating because its meant for people who are mature enough to comprehend the fact that its a game and not to be reenacted.
