  • hawaiians voted for obama because they wanted change, yet when change came to hawaii, they are against change.

  • I'm also mystified. How was an inter-island ferry worse for the environment than the 2-3 jet aircraft it would take to carry the same number of passengers between the islands??

  • @kmillard think about this. the beach bums were the protesters when they would benefit the most. $40 and you can hop islands and surf new beaches instead of costlier flying. why did they protest then? because they are beach bums and they need money, which the airlines and rental companies gladly gave them for protesting.

  • Your real enemy is the isolationism you seek to impose on yourselves, not the Superferry.

What if white Americans got together and all demanded that all planes and ships bringinng visitors and tourists to the US be stopped for the preservation of our culture and our way of life???

I'm betting you would probably say that was the most racist thing you ever heard. You would also say it makes no economic sense. So what makes you any different??

  • Too much control == New World disOrder ;)

  • Land-back to the hawaiians!!!

  • Cut the B.S., Lingle. I hope your "illuminati" friends will never be elected again. The awakening is in progress.

  • Residents and visitors are traumatized by having to rely on air travel for all off island travel.

These problems will only get worse until such time as an alternative means of travel is introduced. Airports are stressful places with security checks, arriving early, not being able to carry bottled water, or even a nail clipper.

I know a sure way to ease the tensions at the airport: Bring back da Superferry!

  • it's a joke being an island community and not having a ferry service... Bring back da superferry! Kimo

  • oh yeah - kill all da haoles and part haoles - you know - da people they think they Hawaiian but get haole blood too - one drop of haole blood = haole!!!

  • Hey nice racist vocabulary; NOT!!! Grow up and stop adding to the hate.

  • MOST of the people on Kauai WANT the Superferry. Right now they hunting that SuperFaggotFairy who when let the air outta those tires. We goin' find him and %#@* him. Who else wants some!!???

  • Help Kauai farmers. Bring back the Superferry. Help reduce jet fuel in the atmosphere. Bring back the Superferry. Make a real cahnge in protecting the environment. Improve our pathetic recycling program. Make the bus 7 days a week and extended hours so people can use it to commute to work.

  • the military is fucked up... sink the stupid ferry keep that shit on the mainland

  • Everywhere in Hawai`i that the military is occupying, is contaminated and obliterated. As far as I have seen. The superferry is their means to tranport soldiers at night through an unmarked vessel...

  • The Ferry's already operational, and it's quite obvious due to it's now legitimization, the Ferry doesn't harm the environment, and it's now legal. So technically their are no environmental problems.

  • It's funny that the superferry has had so many problems with weather and operational issues. I wonder how many more people will be left stranded on outer islands with cars, families, and jobs to come back to. They will have a rude awakening when they can't contact superferry officials cause there too busy catering to the military.

  • If the ferry has been legalized and given proper permits to run, I don't see the problem with it. Just several months ago, people were crying about it killing sea life (although much larger ships went in and out of the ports of Kauai, so they were probably doing it for attention). And I mean, if its enough to drop hawaiian airlines, it must be something.

  • Legalized due to corruption in the government which pushed this through the Lingle administration without taking into consideration the impact of the outer islands. I think the problem is, this is a fast moving vessel so the marine life does not have time to move out of the way, as in whales giving birth...It's not much to ask for the government to follow the law but they didn't.

  • are you sure they illegally past that law?

Secondly, what about all the other dozens of large boats that pass through the islands, including Kauai? Those could probably cut up sealife without the sealife being aware of it.

  • Which law...Hawaiian law? or u.S. law? Remember, we are occupied.... None of the other big boats in Hawai`i go as fast as the superferry...so if you want to protest slow moving boats go ahead and btw, I do protest cruiseliners too. So stick to the subject...corruption in government through the lingle administration.

  • Did you prove that through an EIS which would look at long term effects on the environment..."no"..guess not but it's safe according to you and the corrupt government. Good point...you have none.

  • I've yet to see this corrupt Government in which not follow a law. If you can give me proof that Lingle and this 'corrupt Government' claim that they Illegally admitted the Superferry (although this is a bit strange since admissions usually have to pass through various legal acts and passages) and are aware of long term enviromental hazards. Hey, you may be right. So unless you got evidence where they admit they're illegally allowing a ferry to pass through the islands, you have no point either.

  • Well, if you actually live in Hawai`i, you will see how corrupt the government is and by the way...bush changed the laws to justify his corruption and this superferry is part of it all. Every heard of gmos? that is corrupt government. Do you see the lands that the U.S. is occupying in Hawai`i being cared for? Nope..nor is the environment. There is tons of evidence starting from the occupation by the U.S.

  • My point is however, that because the ferrys are legalized, I think it went through a lot of work to go through, to ensure that this boat passes from island to island legally, safely for both passengers and marine life. There is no corruption unless you have documented proof Lingle says "I'm illegally authorizing this ferry to from island to island to make money, and I dont' care about marine life" Ha. That'd be very silly and I doubt such a thing could exist.

  • Nope, the corrupt government held a special session even though the community outcry was there, and they were ignored by the corrupt government so they pushed it through and justified the corruption.

  • Well if the special session passed and legalized it, then it has been legalized. I'm quite sure they put marine life to their own concerns too. Otherwise as you said, it would be illegal, however there is no proof other than what people 'think' or 'believe' what happened in there. I'm no marine biologist, but are you? If not, I think we both don't know. And I'm quite sure marine biologists or specialists were there to help ensure the ferry act. The World isn't always out to get us or nature.

  • My back ground is Hawaiian Ethnobotany but any Hawaiian grew up on the ocean, in the ocean, and we gathered resources from the ocean...the whales here, not only have to deal with the threat of the superferry, they are dealing with sonar testing and they are here to give birth... Yup, a special session made it possible to cover up their corruption by legalizing what they did. That spells to me, "governmental corruption" especially when there is public outcry...

  • Well the fact still remains, we will not know until we actually do know. Otherwise, our guesses will be the same. Either: Lingle is only allowing the Ferry to earn money not concerning the marine environment? Or did she really look into it, and perhaps wanted to promote the ferry to allow a faster and more convenient way of people to travel from Island to island while still concerning for marine and passenger safety? We won't know, but either way, both of us cannot say we have a fact on.

  • The u.s. military is the backing for the Hawai`i superferry...It is well documented that they will be transporting civilians during the day, and military at night...(poor whales at night...ughh) It is clearly not civilian funding that made the government act corruptively allowing this here without first conducting an EIS which is why the EIS law was created....there is a reason...we live on islands, with fragile ecosystems...

  • I beleive this is to aid in further US transportation/benefits of US soldiers, if the US believes it will provide some sort of defense or protection. However, I believe because the ferry has been legitimized and its permission has been acted, I believe they had undergone previsions to ensure the safety of wildlife to allow the ferry to cross. I don't believe that all marine life was completely disregarded during their legalization and legitimization of it.

  • Yes it was, if the EIS was not required...my opinion is even though they pushed it through a special session, it is still an offense on our environment "and" lifestyle. All of the above was disregarded. The opposition that lives here, saw it and called them on it and was ignored...

  • The presence of the military here has taken a huge toll on the environment in particular on Hawaiian ceded lands. we are talking depleted uranium and those lands will never be able to be restored. We don't want the military here to spread there destruction and this is where it ties into my field...Hawaiian ethnobotany..

  • I think that we will just have to see what will happen to the Ferry. Whether it will cause environmental harm, or not. And if it does prove to cause harm your case and want for the ferry to be gone will surely go into action. If not, I think the Ferry will keep going to provide transport back and forth from the islands.

  • By that time, the lands will be destroyed (because the military is using the superferry to spread out and further contaminate our lands and we don't have time to sit back and watch it happen...the superferry will but against our will, go on because it is backed by the military who is destroying our land and contaminating our watershed with depleted uranium...

  • I'm not really sure if in time that the military conatmination AND ferry will destroy the eco-system in Hawaii, otherwise the US will not earn a profit and be doing themselves as much harm as they are doing to people who live in Hawaii. If in time what you say WERE to happen, then the US would be hurting themselves as they were to you and others. And I'm quite sure the US would be cautious with it. However; from my own knowledge wastedumps are usually very quarantined and dump specialists

  • It is happening and we see it all the time...and we are "ignored". WE are not in a position environmentally to say "if it were to happen" we are defending our home from destruction that has been here through the u.s. military for generations....and is spreading out through out the islands with the help of corrupt government and the Hawai`i superferry...

  • I heard about other Hawaiian islands, but from my knowledge the others have disolved and sunk from nature itself (and if I'm right, way before Hawaiians or anyone ever got to them). However; again if the US is doing this on the Big Island, Oahu, Maui or Kauai or anyone on massive amounts that can cause total destruction of the Islands, the US would be causing a gigantic problem for themselves. These islands generate money. And I don't think they'd want to cut off a source of profit.

  • Well the u.s doesn't care about the environment and it is clear...First of all, Kahoolawe was an island that had and still has heiau (hawaiian temples) on it which the Hawaiians are still using and had to risk there lives to maintain that right that was taken away...Pohakuloa, Waimea Elementary school had a hand granade undetinated found when the students were digging a garden...hazmat was called in to remove it...

  • On Kaua`i, they are launching missiles from barking sands, and the salt flats. On O`ahu, Makua Valley comes to mind, military cause a big fire from bombing which effected endangered species.

  • Meaning I don't think they'll go from Island to island, bombing/waste dumping until the island is useless, adn move onto the next one, because of the fact they'd be hurting themselves. They probably are waste dumping and I've heard of it, but I don't think they'd do it to obliterate the eco-system or nature of Hawaii. Be aware that they do this int he mainland too, but yet large ecosystem environmental outbreaks from dumping haven't occured at gigantic scales to my knowledge.

  • They don't do it to obliterate the ecosystem cause they just disreguard the ecosystem. thats a real solution. The mainland is not another occupied country that america has their noses on...

  • Hopefully no one was harmed from the hand grenade, I suppose it was missed when cleaning a site that they used to build a school on. From sources, the Makua Valley fire was said to be started from a car spark, I've not seen any documentation that the military started it. Also you have to look at this as the US would as they see Hawaii as their property. Now, though you know it's your country and property, they see it as theirs, and the last thing they'd want to do is hurt their land and profit.

  • but it "is" happening not for profit, for war. They are here for bombing practice that is why they destroy our lands. Regardless of the car spark, they are bombing Makua Valley and it is offensive to our people as the land is part of us...they don't care about our land and "have been" hurting the land and still profitting off of it.

  • Although these testings may damage land and may increase their military tech or whatever gain they're getting from it, they still will not do it to completely destroy the island. Profit from Hawaii from tourism, and many other trades, and other sources of money that goes to the US, is too high for the mainland to lose, which is why they won't destroy the lands to uselessness or enough to cause the beauty or environment to fall so badly that money won't generate.

  • The military doesn't profit from tourism (that I know of..well maybe through the superferry and thanks for pointing that out.).The corrupt government officials and all their friends profit off of tourism. If they cared about the beauty of the islands they would not drop "one" bomb on it but they have dropped many starting with pearl harbor which most of the civilians who died were killed by "friendly fire" which meant, the u.s. killed the civilians. I have family who died because of it.

  • The uranium being in water is indeed scary, and if you have some sources about it, send me some links in a youtube mail message. However, I don't think the ferry's entirety is used just for the military lol. But the US does profit from every state, including Hawaii. But again they wouldn't destroy the island in anyway to halt profit that's for sure. But; as for Pearl Harbor, that battle was extremely close, Japanese hit and when US hit back, well being that close to civilian areas would have ff

  • and this is my point, the military never actually really cleans up their messes. Even if they see a school being built on property that was contaminated and formerly used. This land is deemed unusable by Hawaiians and that is never ok.

  • Perhaps the school should be rid of. Have their been any other mines/explosives or contaminations or illness to students? If so then yes it is hazardous, but however, it appears to be deemed safe now.

  • Is anywhere really safe after the military has used it? The EPA standards are very laxed on the military...People say they are getting sick in Kona due to depleted uranium found in their systems through the water they believe. The military are the only ones here who have depleted uranium.

  • There have been many places in the US and int he World that have turned from military used areas to shopping centers or farms or whatever (I'm not saying it's always right or the case), but if it was agreed to be safe, then it's safe (Unless something were happening now). If these people in Kona are the same people of this school or within the school's region getting sick from uranium, then the school should be torn down or re-located. If this is in another area

  • That doesn't make sense, how do you move a whole town which is huge....and drinking water contaminated with depleted uranium but it's ok cause it doesn't exceed EPA limits which are way beyond safe anyway.

  • Otherwise, be torn down. Especially if Uranium is causing illnesses IN water. However, I think if people are getting sick from Uranium then they should leave the source or find a solution. But, until then we'd have to wait. And what the EPA says and does, goes. If they're the officials who believe its safe that is.

  • Well and this is why we needed the EIS on the superferry because of detrimental ramifications in a long term sense and we are not in a position to watch it happen. The superferry is used by the military during the night and civilians during the night. I said that right? and this is why Hawaiians want to disconnect from the u.s. so we can sue them for what is rightfully ours...because they have mismanaged and micromanaged our land for way too long...

  • both used at night, or was that a typo? Either way, we will have to wait and see if the ferry does cause problems. Will it? Perhaps, btu we don't know. I still believe that they have put circumstances of sea life into their agenda when building and permitting the ferry. However, the US will do as they please as they see it is theirs. However, this is a different topic. And your desperate claims have yet changed my mind. ;). Get a messenger and we can talk better. Good night.

  • Nope the school is still there, they did one news article which I'm too tired to post but maybe will tomorrow. It's time for me to go to sleep but good debate. I disagree with you on almost every desperate repetitive points you tried to make lol! but ok, good debate...good night.

  • But I got you here, there is one thing to agree on. That's to agree to disagree. LOL. Can't top that ;D

  • are required to ensure that they don't spread. So to our hope; this shouldn't happen.

  • As for the military, although I believe that they may be waste dumping on environment, I don't think they are planning to use Hawaii as a wasteland dump or atomic bomb testing site, because of it's beauty and land that the US is gaining from. America makes a lot of money off Hawaii, and if I'm not mistaken, Japan is making a buck too.

  • May be? The military has been waste dumping here since they got here. Do you know about Kaho`olawe. A whole island they claimed and used for target practice. Hawaiians could see, and hear the bombing day and night...the punctured the islands water source and all of a sudden gave it back..when they totally destroyed it.

  • The fact that you don't understand marine life shows that you are environmentally disconnected and that means spiritually and culturally disconnected so you can't possibly know what it is like to live on islands, in the middle of the ocean which partially relies on the ocean for food, and susatainability...

  • And since it hasn't been posted yet: Fighting on the internet is like the Special Olympics. No matter who wins, they're still retarded.

  • heres one- how about you people who dont like the superferry, no ride it. while we, who support it, will. thats pretty much how its gonna go.

  • Actually, it's looking like it won't even get another chance to get here. The Superferry has suspended their trips here til all the lawsuits and legal routes are done. Hard for you to ride something may not even make it over here. At the moment there are a few lawsuits that will have to play out in court before the Superferry can even plan on setting trips here.

P.S. When I try to talk to my mainland friends about the "Superferry" for some reason, they thought that we had a gay superhero. LOL.

  • ya- true, it is a dumb name, i will agree with u on that one. haha. but also, i didnt mean i wanted to ride it right now. im saying that once this lawsuit ends, whatever the out come is, if it comes, im down but if it doesnt, then im cool with that too.

  • I think the Ferry is operational now. :P

  • That would be great....I won't ride it and hope you don't get stranded....cause all the superferry opposition will laugh when they see you and your rude awakening on the news...

  • Better to defend our position then sit back and watch the culture and environment go to the retarded people like spiritually disconnected Hawnluv...

  • Lingle is a bought off goverment offical. For those that say our culture is dead over here, look to yourself. Instead of complaining, try keeping it alive within yourself. Remember the Aina. Take care of it. We have to at least try to fight. So forgive us if most of us would rather fight out here in the real world instead of online where you are hidden behind a computer, whining and complaining about how we are stupid for not wanting the Supperferry. We decide to take real action.

  • Lingle is a greasey, tainted, goverment offcial. And for those that say that our culture is dead, get more involved, don't just complain. The power to keep our culture alive is within all of us as well as in you. Lingle sisn't bother to listen to us BEFORE the Superferry, the goverment didn't listen to us when be said "NO!" to becoming a State. We need to make sure that they listen NOW! This is OUR AINA. We must at least try to fight for it anyway we can.

  • no ones gonna listen to what u have to say if u talk like an idiot. if u want something done about this, dont go and make a scene at kalapaki or start a riot at the convention hall, get you facts straight and take it to court. if u got something to prove, then maybe the rest of hawaii would understand.

  • haha- its so funny how u have to get so defensive over other peoples opinions. you can try and say stupid remarks like "duh!" and that im "blind..." or have "low intelligence," but that still doesnt change my thoughts about the situation. if u had a brain- you wouldnt be talking the way you do because your objective should be to convince me otherwise.

  • sorry to say, im from kauai- born/raised. kauai changed, there is no culture left. thats why my family and i moved to the big island. its infested with haoles, hotels, drugs, STDs. The super ferry will not hurt your "culture", as stated from a haole girl. the superferry is a less expensive way that will help us hawaiians/locals visit our families on other island. give it up kauai.

  • i just noticed, but thats kupuna kauka doing the oli.

  • Yah and if you were culturally aware, you would see the Hawaiian culture alive and well on every island but you are blind to your environment. That is why you don't think the HSF hurts the culture. duh....

  • Try watching the video first then make your statement cause you are punishing yourself with your low intelligence. lol!

  • you are so misled. misplaced too. so what if your family had to move to big island. niihau people have to do the same but to kauai. Culture can be defined as all the ways of life, arts, beliefs and institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation. This ferry will NOT benefit people of Hawaii, but the tourists and military personnel and their property. Now, are you still sure about the culture not being effected?

  • like i stated above- we'd like to see some facts, not opinions.

  • these are not opinions which belong to me. my words are of facts! follow the money...

  • Kika, it is people like you who are blowing things out of your `okole. I'm glad you are saying more than one sentence but you still are immoral, invalid, and unintellegent in your statements. Every single one of them. They don't need or want help from environment destroyers like you.

  • is that Momi the Koki frog chirping ?? chirp chirp hahaha

  • is that kika? running his mouth again and laughing at his own stale jokes?

  • No stoppa da ferry now!! ;)

  • YEA I got lounge tickets!

  • Hope you don't get sick sitting in the lounge of a military transporting vessel. Maybe you would enjoy some left over hazmat left by the military who transported uranium on the vessel the night before you ride.

  • Where RU gettin this from I know people in da military and they said the will NOT use da ferry! If they did I will know.

  • Just cause you know a few people in the military, you think they are going to tell you the truth? Have you had your head in the mud? Stryker brigade is willing to do "anything" including breaking the law to infringe itself on island peoples and island lifestyles and that is wrong.

  • I didn't say I know a few I know many.

  • Oh lets throw a party cause zapper knows many in the military..congratulations....doesn't mean a thing to me. Military use is all over the internet, just google it.

  • I used google, yahoo, msn, dogpile every search engine even ones nobody uses and all it says POSSIBLE Military use.here's what on site said

"Anonymous:Does the superferry have connection w/ the stryker brigade?"

"Garibaldi: OF COURSE NOT!" I'll check Austals website and see wat they said.

  • And you believe him?

    you fool

  • what you people should have done was to fight this when is was in the making 4 years ago .. Its too late now ..

  • with or with out the ferry you people already burned your rep ... the whole world is against you ..

YOU ALREADY LOSE SO STFU !!!

you "Hawaiians" lost the land back then and stupid people like you are gonna make them lose again ..

you people are pissing people off with your dumbass actions and comments the majority is going to retaliate and take more than what was expected ..

actually we didnt care about the ferry until you people made that stupid scene at the harbor..

  • Actually i dont really care about the super ferry ...what pisses me off is what you Kauai people are saying and doing ..I wasnt even planning on riding that boat because its too expensive ..Its cheaper to fly over and rent a car ...But since you people are whining and complaining and saying things like "Oahu go home" or "WE DONT WANT YOU HERE"...

    WTF IS THAT ???

  • Now I support the super ferry just so you people look stupid when it does run ..

Thousands of people commute to and from Kauai everyday from airplanes and rent cars..and the ferry only makes one stop a day to your Island...whats the fuckin difference ??

Sounds to me YOU need to open YOUR eyes ...

YOU PEOPLE ARE FULL ON ETE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If it really was just an environmental thing ...why didnt you people calmly ask us for your help ? But NO !!!! you dumbfuck people blew it out of proportion and now you pissed alot of people off so now your worse nightmares is gonna come true ..

  • hmmmm, sound like just what the gov't and corperation love to create. we all live here, we all love the aina, and that is what we are doing... we speak out to protect the aina. please dont let the media fool you. we all must become way more sustainable and that boat uses 12,000 gallons of fuel for one round trip. i no want to support the oil war!

  • Don't let yourself be a slave to the system! FIGHT TYRANNY!

  • you are the TRANNY "BI" SURFER HAHA

  • Oh I see so your making up an argument for the sake of making a scene. I gotcha now... I understand where you are coming from Kika. Just wanna argue for nothing. Congratulations, you look more unintellegent now...

  • Um Momi ...the superferry is gonna sail and theres nothing you can do about it ..YOU ARE THE ONE THATS UNINTELLIGENT so i will say what i always said to you ... STFU !!!!!! HAHAHA

  • Thanks for confirming my notion kika..Thats all you can say. You are exactly the kind of people the outer islanders don't want. You portray the reason why the superferry is meeting opposition. So I've come to a conclusion, either you are Lingles girlfriend or Lingle herself cause you sound like it.

  • EH GET ONE BRAIN!!!!

  • look at these kauai people ... so ETE !!! how shame !!!

  • If you don't see that big business and corruption is what we are fighting against you are completely blind. I only hope that you educate yourself first, before you make blatant IGNORANT judgements. It is Hewa to make assumptions of race and color, when kaua'i has a saying One Island, Many Nations, All Kauaian's. (CONT)

  • I have a little show on YouTube in favor of the Super Ferry. It's called "Matt's Life In Paradise". Episode 1 deals with the Super Ferry. I just posted a Video Response to all comments about episode 1. I would side with the protestors, but I'm a Pacifist Protester. I support peaceful intelligent protesting.

  • Yah Kika, You should.

  • whats that ??? "is the ETE" trying to speak ? haha

  • Excuse me? is that another ha`ole comment?

  • momi you should change your name to "Moe Lepo" ... and im not ha'ole ....stupid ......

  • (CONT.)If you look at this rally, its people of all races and color. So grow up, get your brainwashed media mind off your 30 second corporate sponsor spots, and your ideal for a quick fix and calling people names who are fighting for something bigger than you will ever understand.

  • Some people like to think IGNORANCE is BLISS...but to me I just see IGNORANCE as it is, and that's IGNORANCE. So before you go around posting commments, THINK!!! Think about what people are saying...THINK about what it is we are doing!!! And THINK about yourself and what it is you're doing to make better for our keiki 20, 50, 150 years into the future. E ola mau na oiwi o Hawai'i. E ola mau Kaua'i o Manokalanipo. E ola MAU!

  • In order to release yourself from fear, you must first see the tyranny in the government. If you are unwilling educate yourself to see the tyranny, then you remain ignorant.

  • kika Sounds like you are downing yourself.

  • STFU !!! HAHA

  • And one more thing for you kiki, PA'A KA WAHA, NANA KA MAKA, HO'OLOHE KA PEPEIAO! If your tutu nevah tell you dis, den I going do it for her, cause boy if you no shut your mouth, open yo eyes, and listen wit dem ears...den your words only going be seen as one waste!

  • Hey bisurfer19 ....

    STFU ............HAHA

  • Don't allow yourself to be ruled by fear. Fear stems from the tyrant's and oppressor who you ignorantly oblige and serve. Break free from ignorance?

  • I gave a 1 star (poor)

Haoles trying to speak Hawaiian . they dont know what the hell they saying haha ...

SAVE THE WHALES !! HARPOON THE KAUAIIANS !!! HAHAHA

  • Racism, blatant ignorance, violent words. Stop succumbing to fear! Educate yourself...

  • Good job my good friend Sabra... Ku`e and demand the independant EIS.

  • Great Video. I just gave it 5 stars.
