Best thing to do to a puppy mill before you call the cops... is rob the SHIT outta them. Puppy mills ALWAYS have safes because of the cash paid for puppies. The safes are usually at the owners actual residence and NOT at the actual puppy mill. It just takes finding out where they live, getting someone to make a puppy order, and finding the safe when their gone. Thats what i see in puppy mills, an opportunity to rob someone who deserves it.

My friend adopted a dog from a puppy mill raid. Every time his father came home, dressed in his military gear, the dog would be so frightened it would hide in the corner and start shaking uncontrollably. It was so sad. :(

I wish people would realise the cute puppies that appear healthy in the shop window have come from places like this. their money goes into the hands of the people repeteadly breeding their parents to death; sure the puppies may be cute and clean but people don't spare a thought for the fate of the parents of these puppies... so sad what ignorance can lead to :(

The question is if it is much better at the store. I mean I've never been in Canada or the US, but in every second american movie you see puppies in shop windows, no water, no food and not a person in sight. Who takes care of the dogs and what happens to them at night when they put the dogs away?

Whether or not the pet store provides prime conditions for the well-being and care of the animals is a small issue: the fact is, their "merchandise" comes from puppy mills that churn out animals for quick profits. The best thing you can do is only purchase dogs from a qualified, registered breeder or, the VERY best: RESCUE. :)

no, they will go to the humane society, and will be sold ther, which will bring in some money to help pay, but... u cant go ther and just buy one. u have to apply and well if they think ull be a bad owner or the dog dosent match up to ur schedule then u get refused and cant buy it. soo all these dogs will go to good homes. it does cost alot tho.

One Canadian pet store has our local Humane Society puts them there to increase their adoption rates. The dogs and cats are all treated well. At least "Pet Smart" is one place which cares where it's animals come from.

I am constantly going to one of Canada's pet stores and making sure that the cats and dogs have water in their bowls. I am usually told that the animals are going to be taken care of shortly. I have 2 adult cats who never drink more than a half cup of water a day. Yet this store says that they fill the bowls of the kittens every day. I am going to notify the Humane Society about this problem.

Don't buy from pet stores! Shelters all over the country are full of needy dogs that usually are the most loyal and appreciative than you can imagine. Also, donate to your local shelter if you can't adopt. Most can stretch a dollar further than you can imagine. Make a difference--and pass it on!

Many pet stores that sell dogs for premium prices buy cheaply from puppy mills. The female dogs used to breed constantly live a life of isolation and filth. If you ever go to a shelter and adopt a dog, you'll be the recipient of more love and loyalty than you can imagine. If you can't adopt, donate to your local shelter. Most take clean old towels, blankets, dry food, etc. and they can stretch a dollar you donate farther than you can imagine. Do it, and pass it on!

Puppy mills are an atrosity and should be outlawed, punishable w/jail time. The poor dogs are born into a hellish life, especially the ones bred over and over--a life sentence of filthy cages and constant pregnancy and birth w/no love or vet care. So many pet store dogs and cats come from these mills. If you ever adopt from a rescue shelter you will be rewarded w/more love and loyalty than you can imagine. If you can't adopt, donate locally. Every dollar counts.

We can all help stop puppy mills if we make an effort to educate everyone we know about the suffering of puppy mill dogs. Tell them not to buy from pet stores, because they get their dogs from puppy mills, or from backyard breeders that run puppy mills. Let's all work together to make puppy mills extinct.

My God. I work in a large animal shelter, and Ithought I had just about seen it all. But this puppy mill is shocking in its absolute horrible conditions. Where was the Canadian government?

And why do people get into this kind of business when they obviously have absolutely no compassion or feelings towards the dogs at all? They should go to prison, and live in the same conditions they forced those many poor dogs to live in for years.

There are upteen million puppy mills across America including backyard breeders. EVERYWHERE. As long as there are no mandatory spay/neuter laws, and requiring a LICENSE to breed animals (which makes sense due to pet overpopulation), puppy mills are going to be endless. And at GREAT expense to counties which spend MILLIONS a year to run dog pounds for the sole purpose of killing about 30 million healthy cats, dogs, puppies and kittens every year in the USA due to homelessness. Puppy mills..aghh.
