De Haan seems like a nice guy and I am sure he has talent. I have a hard time justifying passing on Kulikoff for him though. The Isle scouts think they have a gem in De Haan. I hope they are right...but we need bigger guys on the blueline.

i honestly think the islanders made a great pick with de haan at #12. although they prob. could have gotten him later. he reminds me of montreal's andrei markov, a legit #1 defenceman. good hockey IQ, good skater, smooth under pressure but no mean streak. played for team canada on the #1 pairing and hockey canada loves him for a reason!

Dmitry Kulikov Nick Leddy David Rundblad John Moore. Why did they bother moving up to draft a guy that would have went after all of these offensive defencman? Was Garth Snow uncomfortable with so many picks and felt the need to throw one away? He is too small and lacks desire to reach the NHL level. He has great vision but when he is smashed into the boards by the player that was drafted after him in Zach Kassian and finds himself in pieces and seeing stars the vision starts to go. Last Place!
