Wow what a great guitar sound. Is that guitar slightly out of tune? Jimi Hendrix played out of tune. I wonder if that's where these guys get that disjointed emotional sound from.
This man is truly a musical genius who never really got the credit he deserved. He is now an ordained minister and is doing his thing from the pulpit. He preached at my church on New years eve and the Holy Spirit really moved something mighty through him..
I had the pleasure of playing for him when he lived in E. St. Louis, IL for awhile at Haynes Temple COGIC under the late Elder I. Sylvester Haynes (a relative of Nelly). The Haynes family is well respected in the COGIC. DJ Rogers is a great man, minister and his voice was impeccably beautiful. We spent many nights eating chicken and talking church and life.
You mean John Legend is trying to sound like DJ Rogers. Not the other way around. I don't think he does at all, but I'm sure that's probably because John Legend is the only one really out right now whose trying to keep this sound alive, and he's the only person you could think of. I'll give him props for that. But this? Irreplaceable!
I'd put him up there too - in fact this record reminds me in some ways of Everything is Everything...two guys with heart who had something beautiful to offer people.
Many Thanks For The Post ♥♥♫♫♪♪

Great Post... D.J. Rogers is the man ....one of the singers people tend to forget. I put him up there with Donny Hathaway and Otis Redding
