  • He really fooled the poor American people with his fake charm and fake conservative values.

It's a shame those patriotic values weren't in evidence when he was encouraging American companies to relocate overseas - That is socialism...Re-distribution of wealth from the 1st world to the 3rd world and those wealth creating industries will never come back.

  • Ronald Raygun!

  • Reagan was great.

He made Russia spend all their money on the "star wars" when it was all a huge lie!

and he regained the confidence for his people.

now, republicans have sarah palin... anna coultman....

  • What the hell was he talking about?? Absolutely nothing he spoke of has come to pass. We live in a decimated nation because too many believed his platitudes and he never demanded any of the work necessary to make his utopian delusion a reality.

  • @projectpushback A utopia is not possible as long as human beings are sapient beings have free will he was wishing for a better life for all Americans If you can't even understand the notion of a utopia is not possible don't make comments

  • couldnt stand this guy....interesting that nancy and his son had totally opposite views...sort of like bush daughtr(gay marriage), mccains wife and daughter(gay marriage), Laura bush (gay marriage)...need I go on?.....

  • He was never a republican. Bottom of his heart he is a democratic.

  • Shhh, Reagan! Don't say "heal them when they're sick"! You'll get branded a socialist! :O

  • I love the myth too .. but he was at Bohemian Grove

  • So IF "peace" is indeed " the highest aspiration of the America people" why war with Iraq and still no WMDs ever found? ( Jesus may have wept that day too.)

  • What a truly great man!!! That Hussein Obummer needs to listen - especially to the first part - about the role of the Government in the American society. Actually, he doesn't care - he is bent on destroying this great nation and rebuilding it in the failed spirit of the USSR, Cuba and Venezuela. IMPEACH the DICK-tator!!!

  • @igordy He is destroying this country as quickly as he can. Just shoves everything down our throats. When I think of all the money he gives to foreign aid. He would do away with Social Security before he would cut off the muslims.

  • HURRAH ! COMMUNISM DOES NOT WORK ! TO HELL WITH COMMUNISM !

  • So what happened?

  • 2 :30/......nice.i am a democrat.

  • In today's America, Ronnie and Richard Nixon would be considered flaming liberals.

  • you have to have a Cater( obama) in order to get a Reagen !

  • check out ronald reagan speech: We must fight on my channel

  • The world needs him now!

  • @GoldenLegends More than ever.

  • it's time to bring back OUR RIGHTS and take it away from Politician's .. President Reagan had it right.... why then can't this government continue to follow what works ? President Reagan proved it

  • @wayneo169

Too bad his bark was more convincing than his bite.

  • Yea yea ... that overspending, overbearing, over indulged Democratic Congress had nothing to do with the spending. Every Reagan Budget was balanced, every one rejected by Tip. Reagan once told advisors "I don't know why I even send Congress a budget. Please you lefties ... walk by a history book now and then ... geeze.

  • complete opposite of obama. we need reagan now

  • oh yeah he was great lmao

  • He catastrophically lowered taxes in 1981, creating debt so bad he raised taxes each of the next six years and still didn't make up for it. And while he streamlined the complex and exemption-riddled income tax, his changes created the largest-ever shift of tax burden from the wealthy to the middle-class and working poor.

  • We traded arms, money, drugs, and hostages between Iran and the Nicaraguan rebels. More appointed officials were indicted and convicted of crimes than under any other president. We gave chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein. We claimed that trees cause most pollution

  • Under Reagan, we sent the deficit skyrocketing, growing faster in real dollars than under any other president, including the current one. We cut social spending to the bone, creating the homeless problem by turning hundreds of thousands of mentally ill people out on the streets. We appointed Antonin Scalia to the Supreme Court. We cut school funding, trying to classify ketchup as a vegetable. We banned the Beach Boys as attracting the wrong sort of crowd.

  • @3dog9ty that is B.S. you must mean under the current president our deficit is skyrocketing congress just increased the debt ceiling by 2 trillion to a total of 14TRILLION because of OBAMA's spending.

  • @3dog9ty How about the first woman to the court???

  • @3dog9ty Reagan did spend money on the poor just not on lazies like you.

  • Ronald Regan We Need You!!

  • Governemt role is to stand out of the way of the private sector and serve where the private sector

  • This what Reagan has been afraid of...Massive growth and spending of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT now controlling banks, car industry...and the people just sit by while they stifle our growth and opportunity..They want us to remain poor. This current government is a job killer.

  • uhmmm wasn't he a actor....

  • Yes, his profession was acting, but his passion was AMERICA and the philosophy that our founding fathers used to build this country.

  • @drkokodc Tell 'em!!

  • @drkokodc b s

  • And because he was once an actor, what...?

  • Yes he was an actor, George Clooney is an actor, Alec Baldwin is an actor but Reagan was FOR American Prosperity. Baldwin, Clooney and other actors have been FOR American failure. That is why, though he was an actor, he was a great person. He donated more of his fortune to the prosperity of others than any actor before or since.

  • God I miss this man

  • It was Bush Sr and the neocons who subverted his revolution.

I heard Reagan originally wanted Paul Laxalt as his VP and not George Bush Sr.

Yer right that he traded arms because we gave Saddam Hussein chem and bio weapons.

  • Must be an Obama worshiper,

Enjoy your leftist monopoly on the US Government, it's coming to an end; either through the peaceful election process or force of arms.

  • So Obama is too right wing? So who is center left to you, Joeseph Stalin?

When did I say I wanted Obama dead and what does he being black have anything to do with it?

How rediculous, I guess everyone that hates Robert Mugabe must must be racist too by your logic.

  • I don't care if he's purple, pink, blue OR black. He's too much left and he's trying to turn the USA into a Canada facsimile and the majority of Americans don't appreciate that.

  • . . . . . Yes, because every single person in the United States is a racist.

I am not a racist, I never will be. And I don't want Obama dead. I just disagree with where our country is going. I love my country, I love America, and I believe there are extremists in BOTH PARTIES who are messing with things.

  • How about giving a poor person the means to better his or herself. Not just hand outs and "feel goods". How about JOBS? AND TRAINING? Service and then Pay...........let them feel better about themselves and not just shove them food and shelter and hope for the best.

  • That was Reagans policy. Carter had a policy of handouts, entitlements and keeping the people down by those programs. Look at welfare under Carter, a man had to live away from the family so that his family could get food stamps. Under Reagan the man had to work and if he was unable to get work due to lack of education he was given education. But he had to perform and contribute to society. Under Carter he stayed unemployed so that he couldn't be forced to pay $5 for every $1 his family got,

  • @1oathkeeper Wow, and you say Republicans and conservatives are messed up!!

  • Antiworld23, force of arms?? It almost appears you are looking forward to the president being assasinated by a kook like you. You are exactly the type of terrorist within our borders that true Americans should fear.

  • Just to let you know...Biden's a lefty too...it wouldnt end your monopoly on the government... I'm fine with crazies blowing stuff up in DC...look at Ireland: it gets stuff done.

  • ".... you are looking forward to the president being assasinated by a kook like you."

I never once implied anything of the sort. Obummer's assasination would just turn him into a martyr, so people like you would continue to worship him like an evil version of Jesus.

I'm not a terrorist. I've never hijacked an airliner and crashed it into a building or planted road side bombs. Oh wait, those people to liberals are just misunderstood freedom fighters, only white Americans are terrorists.

  • @Antiworld23 Tell 'em like it is. Don't let libs walk over ya. Back off, ya libs, BACK OFF. Leave Reagan alone, you Progressive/Liberal/Communist/Left-winging punks! You are hate on him because he was RIGHT. He was a strict Evangelical Christian who loved America and American freedom.

  • He was like, the most win president ever, his second election got every state but the homestate of mondale.

  • Correct. Greatest re-election of all time going by the numbers. No president has ever won more states than Ronald Reagan.

  • "Big Government conservative" A contradiction in the same sentence. McCain was a Liberal posing as a Republican. Let's not call Republicans conservative.

  • I am & always will be a staunch Liberal...BUT, I've come to admire President Reagan in many ways...He came upon the scene when he was most needed...GOD BLESS HIM!!!

  • Than you are no liberal, 6celery8. One does have to admire Reagans effeciveness as a campaigner, but his policies fell flat and the gains made on his watch only began when the dems took back congress.

  • When pray tell did the dems "take back congress?" Learn your history son, Dems controlled congress from the 50s until 1994. Unfourtunately they regain it again in 2006, and a year later things when to shit.

  • No, AntiIntellectual, the dems didn't "control" congress until their majority increased as more progressives claimed more seats. They forced Reagan to adopt spending programs that created the jobs that you all try to credit Reagan for. Prior to that, unemployment rose and the stock market fell two years after Reagans tax cuts. They don't work!

  • They do. The only thing that was due to democrat involvement in the politics was the debt.

  • Comment removed

  • in response to mattrwsmith

Wow, you are a typical liberal ignorant moron. He appointed Kennedy and O'Connor, 2 justices who are notoriously middle ground and far too many times liberal. Hardliners? You are an idiot.

And in 7 of Reagans 8 years the Democrat congress passed a higher budget than what Reagan proposed, so again, idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • He was telegenic and smooth and said the sort of things people loved to hear. However the economic growth in the 80s was funded by runaway national debt. He also appointed nasty hardliners to the supreme court. He was no angel.

  • We Democrats Knew Reagan was a great President. What happened?

  • Actually, Pres. Reagan was vilified by the left. They called him a warmonger, an out of touch old man, an elitist, a B grade actor etc. He was made fun of in music videos and many in the Hollywood elite patronized him.

He may not have been liked by the governments of other countries, but he sure demanded respect of our own country. Did he make some mistakes? You bet, but he brought back national pride after the fall of Saigon, the set backs in the cold war and the Iranian Hostage crisis.

  • what a boss

  • "We are a nation that has a government. Not the other way around."

"It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed".

"All of us need to be reminded that the federal government did not create the states; the states created the federal government."

  • We must never surrender for peace. Not to the Japanese, nor the Nazis, not the Soviets, and certainly not to the Islamo Facists.

  • "It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed". Sounds like what needs to happen with the UK Labour Party!

  • Obama is paving the way for someone like Reagan to get elected, and pray to god it happens because this boy is turning America inside out faster than even his blind uninformed, uneducated, supporters thought he would.

  • talk about contrast...

  • It's such a shame that Republolicans are so full of hate towards President Obama that they'll post numerous comments slandering the man in a forum about some other President's inaugural speech.

It's pretty clear how out of touch they've become....

  • Cry me a river. The "hate" towards Obama is miniscule compared to how the communist democrats hated Bush. In about six months, you people will be praying for Bush to return. Well.....you have to believe in something to pray, I'll say instead that you will be BEGGING, because begging is what liberals do best, besides giving away other peoples money to deadbeats.

  • "to how the communist democrats hated Bush."

If you wanted to prove your stupidity, you couldn't have done so any more succinctly.

  • no we're not we don't want to loose our way of life. What President Reagan is saying is truth! obama is only in it for himself and what he can ruin in this country!!!!!!!

  • How they've become? Are you that vapid?

How can you not the see the value in Reagans words, and the benefits of his service to our country in its time of need. He had life experience, and was truly grounded in the deep meaning moral principles established in our Constitution and Bill of rights. Conservatives want this, do you think we actually knew GW was going to screw everyone, including his base. And now Obama is here to save us.... sure...

  • "How they've become? Are you that vapid? "

You clearly have no clue how out of touch the GOP is today compared to the Reagan years. To say that you didn't think that Bush was going to hurt his base is utter stupidity. He looked like an idiot in the '04 debates and his mindless supporters still voted for him in droves and are now crying about getting destroyed last year.

  • Reagan waz da 2nd best president. I hate obama. ROMNEY 2012

  • "We are a nation that has a government, not the other way around!"

    AMEN!!!!!!!!!

How did we go from this great man to that empty suit we have now in a mere 20 year? Astounding.

  • At 3:40, you see the difference between the President and His Divine Shadow.

His Divine Shadow: "I will do for you. I will do. I will. I. I. I."

President Reagan: "YOU, "common" Americans are heroes. YOU will make things better."

His Divine Shadow believes in "I, the Obama". President Reagan believed in... "We, the people..."

  • What a difference between this and Obama. Both came to power in the middle in a recession. Reagan pulled us out by letting business do business. Let see Obama choke it death.

  • A shame you don't have the time to study recent history so you have to swallow and parrot nonsense like that, fed to you by the Republican Party.

Skip American Idol one night and read up on what Reagan's years in the White House actually did to the US economy.

  • A shame you have been indoctrinated in revisionist history. I *lived* through this era.

Our economy prospered during President Reagan's two terms. The federal revenue increased; but federal spending (Congress' responsibility) out-stripped it.

  • He lowered are instrust rates to 5% when Jimmy Carter raised it to double digits

  • your an idiot to think that the Soviet Union was 30 years failing by the time Reagan got into power, granted that Reagan didn't bring them down by himself but SDI and other programs led to their bankruptcy. Also nobody knew what AIDS was back then, nobody had any idea of how bad it would be so don't act like he did it on purpose.

  • AIDS probably wouldn't have been such a big issue if it wasn't for all the closet homos and and aging hippie "free love" loser spreading it around with their imoral behaviors.

  • One of the only presidents which can make me salute to a youtube video. Thanks for this, i like listening to reagan.

  • "Its not my intention to do away with government, it is rather to make it work. Work with us, not over us. To stand by our side, not ride on our back".. these words alone bettered Obama´s words about people´s doubts as to whether the government was functioning..

  • crap I accidently hit down thumb, my bad, is there anyway I can fix it?

  • I don't think Palin is the one but I do think it will take Obama to elect someone like Sen.Jim Demint(r-sc) or possibly Gov.Mark Sanford(R-sc).

  • I think Palin is the one. That's why Obama's goons and the MoveOn crowd worked like dogs to try and destroy her. The pure unadulterated hatred the libs had for her was beyond disturbing.

  • another one that make do it and he could beat him is one, mit romney or Gov.Booby Jindal(R-Lousiana)

  • Mike Huckabee has the charisma, and Reagan-esk speaking ability to take out Obama in 2012.

  • hey i hope youre right cause i love huckabee but i think our guy is gonna be mitt romney in 2012 he seems like the most likely canidate

  • I respect Romney, very accomplished, looks good on stage, very smart, intellectual guy. Has the money to outspend Obama. It'd be hard for Bill Maher, and all the other Liberals to tear into him, but we'll see.

  • exactly i mean im very conservative but i will give the pres the benefit of the doubt but i do hope he loses in 2012 i think im gonna write in ronald

  • [It took a Carter to elect a Reagan and it will take an Obama to elect a Palin]

You got it backwards. The selection of Palin as the VP candidate eventually DROVE independents and a few more republicans to vote for Obama. Although Palin is your party's biggest star, Obama outpolls her 57-33. Palin is a kook and a joke, I hope she runs.

  • My party's biggest star?

I'm not a Republican, i'm a Libertarian. My party's biggest star is Ron Paul

  • Ronald Reagan often is quoted as saying: "I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism."

  • Comparing Obama's speech and Regan's would be interesting. It wouldn't really show anything valuable but it would be interesting to see how they differ and are similar rhetorically and, later on, in actions. Will Obama go the route of deregulation in order to "save" the ecomony or will he just let the markets that self destruct disolve. Should be interesting to see what happens

  • well they were very different because obama said only government is the only think that can solve this problem where as reagan said in the present crisis government is not the solution to our problem....government IS the problem.

  • obama did not say that go back and listen to the man speech--he said quto "goverment is not the answer" stop mis quto people President Regan and President Obams said the same thing. Should I send you the video. please stop pushing fear and wrong information. everyone has right to their opion but let's keep it real!

  • In January 1981, the official unemployment rate was 7.5%, and the official inflation rate was 11.8%.

  • I remember those times. Those were bad days under Carter. Home loans were above 10% interest, and gas rationing at the pumps.

Welcome to Jimmy Carter's 2nd term, America.

  • It took a Carter to elect a Reagan and it will take an Obama to elect a Palin.

  • Hmmm, so Minutman, who can you compare George W. Bush's 2 terms with?

  • dude omg you are a great america youre 100% right thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you, NObama 2012, we need to vote for reagan

  • unfortunately obama will win again, since he gets 97% of the black vote and all the young idiots i go to school with. if 97% of white people do something they are racist, if 97% of black people do something they are visionaries.

  • Yeah, but Black folks are only 13% of our populations...with very poor turnout for a particular group. The Liberal media showed them off on Election Day. I'd be pissed if I was Black that day.

  • thats still a big chunk of the vote since popular obama only won by a few points, and either way the points stands that if 97% of white people did anything together it would be considered completely and utterly racist.

  • Black's support for white Dems is still in the high ninety-percentage. The fact that it was an african-american candidate only gave him a 2-3 point boost. Even with that, it's understandable since there has never been a candidate of color in the general election. Nothing racist about that.

  • supporting someone because they are the first of some race to run for something is racism regardless of what race they are.

  • No it is not racism, no matter how desparately you want it to be, it isn't. And again, whatever you want to call it, it only accounts for a 2% bump. So stop your belly-aching. Obama won because of his preferred Ideas. I'll leave Reagan alone out of respect, but he wasn't all of that.

  • im not even bitching about obama winning at this point, im just trying to make you understand the definition of racism. which is making a decision based on someones race, which many people did.

  • You actually are bitching about Obama winning. You wouldn't be saying all of this had he lost. The fact that some voted for Obama because he's black is not in dispute. However, that is a very small percentage and every poll indicates that more voted "against" Obama because of his race than vice versa.

  • and those people that voted against him for being black are terrible human beings who can not see him as simply a human being. making a decision with race as a factor is simply wrong no matter what the end result is. And actually i would have brought it up if he won or lost because it is always unfortunate when democracy takes a hit from ignorance and it should always be addressed.

  • It's amazing how Barack won over 90% of the black vote which is perfectly fine. However, if McCain won over 90% of the white vote it would be racism from whites. The number one group that is racist are the blacks. I have a black friend that told me "blacks deserve to be racist because of slavery." Enough said.

  • Blacks just heavily support democrats, regardless of race. Were blacks being racist when Kerry, Clinton, Gore and Carter got 97% of the black vote?

Conservatives grow the government just as much as progressives. Reagan grew the government when he took office as well as Bush, and GW Bush. Neocons try to call it "reform" when they expand government.

  • It would be interesting to compare obama's speech and reagan's. they both were coming into power at a time of economic crisis. and they both talk about dreams, the future, goals, etc. so after 29 years we are back in the same place. except inflation isnt 10%. It's also interestting how he talks about living within our means. and that's one of the things that is sinking our economy

  • Reagan surrounded himself with people smarter than him and that is how one must govern. Obama should do the same. America loved Reagan, but there were many groups left out of during his presidency: blacks, hispanics, people in small town america-Reagan shifted the power from the big cities to the suburbs. Everybody thought that the Reagan Era produced an unbreakable electorate for the Republican party, but Clinton dented it and Obama smashed it.

  • I suggest you not take my word for it but look at the net income, and upward mobility of minorities during Reagan's administration before you spew disinformation. Don't be so easily swayed by words. Let actions and achievements speak louder than the eloquent impassioned verbage of slick good looking people. Reagan used both positive words and actions. Would you still berate him if he was black or his last name Sanchez?

  • Reagen did not look down upon America's citizens as does the burocrates do today looking at us like mindless drones.

  • Ronald Reagan had passion. Something the last president to have was Lincoln. You can see it as he talks about us at 3:21...beautiful.

  • Okay :) dont worry, someday you will break free of the oppressive propaganda of your party and see that government cannot do anything to help, only to hurt. Independence comes with risk. When you take your diaper off and understand that you could crap your pants but dont, you will survive in environment we the people will return to the world. Long Live Ronald Wilson Reagan!

  • Absolutely. His voice cracks with emotion several times in this speech. It moves you.

  • The siege of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 prefigueres the end of the world.

  • This is a true conservative! Fuck McCain! Fuck Giuliani! Fuck Huckabee! This country needs a rock-solid conservative that flips the bird to the growing number of sissy-ass socialist liberals.

    Romney/Gingrich 2012! Palin rules!

    Liberalism is a mental disorder!

  • THIS is my President!

    Romney/Gingrich 2012!

  • "Always remember that you are Americans, and it is your birthright to dream great dreams in this sweet and blessed land, truly the greatest, freest, strongest nation on Earth." — Ronald Reagan

  • The states created the federal gov't!!!!!!!!Right on to that. We are all in trouble now however. I'm with Shaw just give us Newt. We failed to elect Romney and take advantage of his knowlege of Detroit and the auto industry and it now looks as if that will soon fail.

  • Newt Gingrich 2012

  • Newt is the smartest, best man we have government today. I only wish and pray he runs.

    Newt Gingrich 2012

  • agreed, but i think he will counterintutively lose power by running - Newt's genius is that he, like the Church, is separate from politics yet exerts his influence upon it and it not upon him.

  • If Reagan were alive right now he would have destoryed Obama is he were able to run for a

3rd term. Reagan we need someone like you right now. I hope the sign you send us will show us the way!

  • That would be Ron Paul !

  • I think Ron Paul was a good speaker in all, but he was the right guy at the wrong time. Sorry but Ron Paul wasn't right for republicans at this time. Neither was McCain. Should've either been Keys Or Huckabee.

  • In 2012, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, or Paul Ryan.

  • why not why do you feel this way about ron paul

  • because it's hardly ever a good time to have someone whose isolationist at this time. He was a good speaker, but a bad republican at on isolationist ideas. Ron Paul tends to lean libritarian rather than solid conservative. I just don't agree with how Ron Paul would've handled the issues.

  • yea well im a libertarian

  • ok? I agree with Mage: Paul will make an excellent Sec. of the Interior for the next pres. term in 2012, but his foreign policy is crazy. Have you read his book? Some of it makes sense, but to defeat terror we have to organize internationalism and be on top: like Reagan would want.

  • well my views are rooted more in secular Libertarianism not really conservitism

  • Maybe. But I don't believe Reagan would be for as Obama stated - "Global Citizenship is required and not an option".

  • If Reagan were alive he would be too old to be President

  • Reagan would never be too old. His ascendence to Glory has caused Reagan to cease to be a mere man: Reagan is now an idea, and ideas are bulletproof.

  • after bush them ideas are dead find some new ones

  • These ideas live on in my heart and the hearts of millions of others. We love this country, like Reagan did, and we will fight ignorance at all approaches. Ignorance such as your current destroy any hope for democracy. We, with the blessing of God, will save you and your brothers from the bonds of authoritarianism. We have faith in ourselves and faith in an idea, the idea of freedom, that is much better than faith in flisy and weak things like mere men. You and all of your friends are heroes :)

  • If Reagan loved our country why did he sell our future to China in the form of quadrupling the national debt? Why did he break the fundamental laws of separation of powers put in place by the founding fathers by way of the Iran-contra affair? Why did he invest so immensely in unnecessary and unrealistic military adventures, while the people's incomes dropped, abortions rose, education plummeted, and small businesses struggled to make ends meet while big businesses got tax break after tax break

  • chowder head

  • I agree, but there are those who could be like him and maybe even strive to be even more productive than reagan... like RON PAUL.. he fights for the constitution everyday! and he thinks like reagan...he is influenced by reagan... he would be a great president!! but our country is blinded by diversity at the moment

  • Also mainstream media and people will be hardpressed to accept Ron Paul. I think Ron is great and I agree with most of what he says. I was democrat but more I'm becoming libritarian, but moderate.

  • yeah, Ron Paul would be a great leader, shame the liberal media won't let his message get out

  • Yeah, yell Rue Paulsy like a the useful paultrad idiot that you are.

  • Yeah, back someone with no track record. Youre dependably useful idiot.

  • Rue Paulsy? haha what the hell

he does have a track record- his votes in the house of representatives

    what are you talking about?

  • How can you be such a nitwit? Thats all ruepausly has ever done!! He's voted. Reagan had a real track record of being governor of California. How can you compare Reagans real world track record with some buffoon who all he's done is vote.

  • I can't compare Reagan with Paul- i get that, i thought you were refering to his track record in Congress- you're right

Paul tried to get elected president, while Reagan actually did

however- he does back up his words every time he votes or presents a bill- that is doing something- heads of executive branches aren't the only useful politicians
