  • Thank you so much for the uploading of all these marvellous movies, Openflix!

  • thank you!

  • Mines not working :(

  • Hitchcock Is one of the best...That bird singing at 48:26 is eiree. I think it goes Hitchcock, Kubrick, Nolan,Lee

  • alfred hitchcock is the best ever hope i dont run out of his programs to watch...

  • why.

  • I can't see the big picture. Why has the setting for full screen been removed? All I have to choose from now is shrink and "expand" and I still see only half full screen which is unacceptable really.

  • @rarmishaw68 I'm not having nor do I believe I've encountered that problem before. Try refreshing it or something. I usually watch w/ the small screen anyway. Doesn't bug me a bit.

  • It's a wonderful, amazing website !!!!! really really very very love it

  • gr8 movie..............post more hitchcock movies

  • Hitch's first talkie, and what masterful resistance to use the sound-box until the eight min(ish).

  • Very good!

  • Cameo Alfred Hitchcock min 10:26 check.

  • You can really tell that Alices' voice is dubbed. Other than that, awesome movie.

  • just love these old movies thanks for the upload ,,,beats the tv any time,

  • wow thank you so much for uploading this

I have to do a project on Alfred Hitchcock and this helps alot

  • Thanks ampopfilms and youtube for this classic movies!

  • The Artist, Mr. Crewe was Cyril Trimnell-Ritchard, a Catholic boy from Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia. His father wanted him to become a Doctor. He wanted to become an actor. He had the distinction of appearing in Britain’s last silent film, Piccadilly, as well as the first successful talkie, Blackmail.

  • I would like to know why there is no blood on the knife, or her slip for that matter. I know it was a censorship issue in the 1920's, but STILL. I thought the sequence with the knife was interesting (where it kept reiterating over and over in her mind). For his first talkie he certainly works well with the new and otherwise limited technology of the time. Very impressive.

  • I'd prefer seeing this without the "commercials". That I can get on television.

  • Thanks for uploading this! Had to watch it for my Hitchcock class. I think this may be my favorite Hitchcock film thus far!

  • @kin869 "Thus far," how many Hitchcock films have you seen?

  • @RayPointer That was the second film I've seen in that class, so it's not that many to be honest. I think part of the reason I like it so much is that it was made in 1929! We just watched 39 Steps, Rebecca, and Shadow of a Doubt, with each one getting better each time!

  • @kin869 I am finding it fascinating to trace Hitchcock's works from his early career, having been exposed to his works from his last 25 years of activity. I am sure you will find his work more and more exciting with each decade. Perhaps his greatest achievement and most astonishing change in style was TORN CURTAIN. His final film, THE FAMILY PLOT (1976) is something of a decline, but still entertaining. He had passed away just before completing it., as I understand.

  • 15 people rather watch "Jackass"...

  • There is another silent version of this no ?

  • @vietbuhletz

Yes. One critic says he prefers it.

  • @vietbuhletz There is a silent version, yes. There was only 'one" sound version that I am aware of. Other silent versions would have been for foreign releases with interetitles in various languages.

  • ampopfilms: what DVD Ripper do you use to upload your movies to your PC? Please

  • Oh my, Anny is such a beauty.

  • You did a great job to put this on Youtube, I say

I'm a great Hitchcock fan my self and always wished to see this movie someday and here it is !

  • Alfred Hitchcock in scene at 10:36

  • @owainmeurig

One of his more obvious cameos. Sometimes you can't find him even when you know the scene he's supposed to be in.

  • where r my wheat thins?

  • too wonderful!! like it, love it ,simply marvellous!!!

  • i think this was the first sound movie made in the uk. am i right? was it directed by ronald neam, who died today?

  • @johneunson it was the first sound movie made in the u.k but it was directed by Alfred Hitchcock. ;)

  • Hickock himself @ 10:41. (man with a book)

  • He always made these appearences in his movies.

  • silent movie!

  • Awesome movie! Thanks a lot for sharing! Hitchcock rules!

  • Excellent film. You have to wait a while for the speaking to start.

Made in 1929, and a good job too.

  • wow thats so great

  • Well, keep looking. I'm sure you can find a movie equally appealing. "More matter with less art" (Shakespeare).

  • Very good movie!!! The mood and the timing! Awesome!

  • This was made right on the cusp of the era of talkies, so it was shot silently and all dialogue was dubbed in.
