Among his peers. Ronnie James Dio was widely respected. He was more than 'just' an amazing voice and presence on stage, there's the man behind that showmanship which clinches it for people. A real down to Earth kind of guy who was always encouraging other artists to keep shooting for the stars. I agree he IS the Godfather of Rock-n-Roll and Metal and a veritable music god too.

Not really a surprise since Rainbow was his brainchild and he surrounded himself with great musicians ie Dio (RIP), Cozy and the rest of the gang. One of my favorite hard rock bands.
