Bob, any access to the stunning closing montage (post Game 7) that included the CBS closing credits and the familiar "Robin Hood" theme? I have it on VHS, as I'm sure you do. If CBS cannot release that montage to us common folk, perhaps you can???
@dennydog: I double checked on Wikipedia. The Target Center opened in October 1990, so this could well be it in the upper corner. I do think they're all standing outside the 1st Ave. bars, probably just north of the Warehouse District LRT station.
One of those games where you remember where you were at. Jack Morris was a hero of mine when he was with the Tigers, and it couldn't have come out better. There will never be a more dramatic and thrilling Series.
Bob, would you be able to post the intro to this? The part where Pat O'Brien says "this season is now one game away from becoming...a masterpiece"? Many thanks.
Hope you can all join us at beautiful Target Field from Aug 5-7th as we celebrate the 20th anniversary (and Twins win) of the greatest World Series of all time!
@minnbeef go easy on RichieEastside, I fell asleep before the game was over and missed the ending. However, I should point out that I was 4 years old.
I remember falling asleep watching this game and waking up right before the last out. I didn't really care because I was a Red Sox fan, but I was hoping the Braves could pull it out after their worst to first season.
I still want to know where all of the bar people singing "Hey Hey Hey Goodbye" in the intro are. It looks to me like that's Target Center in the upper left, which means they are on 1st Ave N, probably at about 5th St. Right about where the Warehouse District LRT station is now. By Drink or where Rosen's was. Can anyone tell?
Quite simply, the best World Series of all time. Four games won at the last at bat, Kirby's heroics, Morris vs. Smoltz in game seven, surprising hero's like Harper and Lemke, and two worst-to-first teams playing super high quality ball for seven great games. With all due respect to '75, '86, and '01...this is the best ever.
CBS's theme and graphics send chills up my spine.....They might not have covered MLB every Saturday during the season but CBS was amazing in the postseason...
Hello. Yes, I have a VHS tape of this game also. It's just that WCCO joined the game at about 5 minutes into this pregame, at the point where Smoltz is walking down the Metrodome steps and Pat O'Brien says "we're talking a little pitching". Can you tell me, how did CBS set up the theme for this game? I'm referring to the one minute or so part that's cut from the video posted here...the piece between "From the network of the 1992 Olympic Winter Games" and the opening music.
To whoever posted this, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! i've wanted to see this all my life. I was at the game, and here in Minneapolis, a football game ran late and the local CBS affiliate didn't join the pregame until 20 minutes late. Does anyone have the CBS intro before the music and credits start? I've always wondered how CBS set up the game before the opening music?
I still have a vhs copy of this game (the whole series in fact), start to finish, from opening music to ending credits. email me @ mgissogreat@msn.com
@mgissogreat Would you by chance have the Game 7 trophy presentation? I have Game 7 on DVD but the trophy and series MVP presentation aren't included. What about Game 6?
WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS??? I've been looking for this forever!! I've got this game on tape, but the tape doesn't include the pre-game show, and for a game this classic, it has to be set up properly too--and no one did it better than CBS. Were you able to get a DVD of that game including this pregame show? If so, where?
CBS music and CLASSY unFox like intros give you chills...Understatement sets a tone better than this crap we get now...\

@smithyamiami: what kind of jerk spends his time on YouTube looking to pick fights about something that happened 20 years ago?

Arguably the greatest, most dramatic, heartstopping World Series game of all time.

Its time to put Black Jack Morris in the Baseball hall of fame. He was a big time pitcher and a big time winner.

@minnbeef that's probably not Target Center because that wasn't built in 1991.

I'm thinking it must be 1st Ave N. because that looks like Target Center lit up in the upper left corner of the screen.

Wow. Credit to Pat O'Brien for these interviews - especially the one outside Kirby Puckett's home.
