  • Todd, Felix, and Val..... unfortunately your claims to be "TAKEN" care of, reminds me of the Chinese workers that are now doing most of the manufacturing that used to be done in the good 'ol USA. Because they get a bed, two bowls of rice, and a piece of fish each day, they think they're living large. Life is much better than on the farm in the rice paddies. But in reality, they are being "TAKEN". When the worker has no idea of what they are truly entitled to, they are happy getting "SCREWED"

  • I feel the pain of these jobless picketers, looking to work where they live, and only asking for a fair living wage, as promised by the Pope and the Church. The Bible says that if you have a problem with a brother, you should go to him with it. I see these marching brothers stating with their banners, voices, and signs that they have a problem with the Catholic Church ignoring it's own teachings. These brothers have been silently turned away and ignored. It continues... Ask WHY?

  • I can't believe that for as much as USC charges for tuition, they wouldn't give back to the community and use local construction workers. Instead they choose to bring them in from the desert, and ignore all the starving workers that live around the campus. Ditto for the Catholic Church.... their Parish is here, the local Parishoners who donate are ignored in favor of the desert rats. This not only sounds like love of money, it sounds like PAYOFF! Give the jobs to those who live and breathe L.A!

  • Ive been working w frazier for 15 years and I've been well taken care of w insurance and everything never stop working

  • When you work a Prevailing Wage project and earn a good wage, take your breaks come home safely to your Family thank a Union Brother, God Bless

  • For your information we as a team (Unions) have fought for fair wages, benefits, on the job safety, brakes, 8hr. days basically better working conditions also negotiated Prevaling Wage witch gives all the workers and their Family's a better way of life, a honest days work for a honest days wage. i have been a member of the Bricklayers Union for 25yrs. live within a mile from this project would of like to have seen Local Hire Local help there. To Felixsafety we are not the MOB! ManDuc 916

  • I don't think this is a union verses non-union issue,as much as it is a Practice what you Preach issue. The church can't ask the perishioners to live by certain standards that the church leaders don't practice.

    The solution seems simple.

The church needs to prequalify bidders for their projects, in order to see if they comply with the church teaching

The church is sacrificing it's moral compass for the bottomline cost savings at the risk of their credibility

  • Frazier provides for some of their empolyees, but not for all! What's good for one should be good for all! That's the probelm with soceity today you have individauls who only care about themselfs. Every brick, block, and stone that goes into these buildings will ask its toll of every man the same. People will unity in worship inside this church when finished, and these workers should unity in building it.

  • My prayers are with you guys out there in California. It's happening nationwide including right here in Pa. too. I haven't worked in 2 years but have witnessed all the work going nonunion. They've been working regular. I don't know what to do. I feel like a fish that was scooped up in a net. I need to be put back in the water or I'll die. I already lost my health benefits, so if something happens, it's all over. God blessed us with great talents and I pray that HE will soon get us going again.
