Hemp is the stalks of any plant under the genus cannabis.

While the stalks are useless for even for extractions you cannot produce hemp without also producing other parts of the plant that do contain active cannabinoids.

Even the worst strains, with horrible genetics and low potency, IE feral ruderalis, can be made into edibles and hash so you can still get very high.

@thedirtynasty No, you cannot get high at all, let alone very high. American hemp is cultivated from strains of C. sativa L sativa, var. sativa, specially bred for industrial feedstock and biomass. Not only do the drug bearing parts of the plant contain less than 0.5% THC--sometimes less than 0.05%--but concentrations of CBD cannabinoids work against the psychoactive components. Real marijuana--C. sativa indica-- has 3% or higher concentrations of THC with low CBD.

I understand that the tendency of a feral line is to diverge from some of the traits used for textile crops. But I've not heard about feral textile lines having nearly as much as 5 percent. More like 1 to 3, and continuing to have a higher CBD count than flat-out narcotic lines.

As an eater of Cannabis flowers, both male and seeded females, I'd be intrigued to know if anyone has tested the levels of Cannabinoids within this naturalized Cannabis, Sure it wouldn't likely have a high THC content, however I reckon it would have a higher content than the 'industrial Hemp' strains.

Eat that Weed, it's really, really good for you!

It's all garbage. I lived in Omaha which is less than 50 miles from this area and there is ditch weed everywhere, but it is completely non smoke able or usable. It is just seeds, no buds...

Personally I would never refer to 'The Tree of Life' as 'garbage'. As a sun loving plant it will have chlorophyll and some cannabinoids, even if virtually no THC. Sure, up to half the weight of a mature female plant can be seed and what a seed, the most perfect food on the planet. Legend has it that price Sidartha ate nothing but Cannabis flowers for 6 years before his enlightenment, his title of Buddha and the teachings of the 4 noble truths.

PhD? They are Natives, not Indians. As for as his explaination of the hemp industry, no mention of the gulf, the carolinas, virginia, kentucky, the midwest? No mention of it's utilization during and before WWll. It was ACTUALLY in the early 1600's that Virginia passed an Act requiring all planters in Virginia to sow both English and Indian hemp. The NATIVES had been using hemp long before the--believe it or not--Puritans in 1645. This video is somewhat misleading, but the footage is good.

Until recently it was common to find wild hemp growing in northern Kentucky along the Ohio river southeast of Cincinnati. They would cut it every year between the towns of Covington ky and Augusta Ky along the Ohio river. It was always on the news.
