This was before his career rebirth in the US I think ...doing a series for the beeb poor bloke☺(didn't John flirt witht that really cute one in Pan's people at the end of that clip and put his hat on her head?)
Thanks Michael. I've have seen so many of John's cideos but have seen this one. And it's simply great. So full of fun and laughter. He even pokes fun with being out of tune.
These BBC shows, at least the five I have seen, all ended with with comedic finales like this one. some might call it sillyness, but I think we need more of it in this day and age. John was not afraid to laugh at himself. He was a true star.
Yes, TV today thinks it less expensive and more interesting to fill the screen with useless wannabeees and hasbeens than true stars like JD. Worse still, so many of us seem to agree with them! It's really sad!
No need to apologize. I upload all of my favorite parts. And if someone ask me to upload something that I have. I actually remember this one as a kid. I remember that ship before the song for sure.
Would you believe me if I told you I don't remember it at all. I don't know what I was doing in 1973! I never saw this show and I didn't know who JD was in 1973. This show came and went and I knew nothing about it. I only caught up with him when he released Annie's Song.
This show was the beginning of my fan hood. But actually, knowing who he was, was when Rocky Mountain High and Back Home Again started playing on the radio. it seems like this show was on earlier than 1973
I can relate to the time the show was on TV live over here. John jokes about Sunderland winning the cup and he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, because there was only one point scored! I have a clear memory of Sunderland beating Leeds United in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium (I saw the game live on TV), but I have no memory at all of his show being on TV at that time. That is strange!
I do remember his shows on TV I was really young but I do remember them. And when I became a FAN at age 6 or 7 I asked my cousin who was a fan also at that age, if he was that guy who sings on TV. The one with the blond hair that did all those funny skits. And she said Yes, that's him. And so that is where it all began! After that day I had to have every album that he put out!
Obviously I was somewhat older than you. I was about eighteen years old when the show was on the BBC and I completely missed it. I was aware of Jet Plane, Sunshine and Sweet Surrender, but I had no idea who the singer was!
this is funny I wish their were more shows like this now a days
