At their age now, those kids aren't learning anything but it might get them to follow instruction. IDK, maybe a little too early. But I started at age 4. I was very serious and made it to the jr. olympics at age 8. It's about the child, and the dedication they have for it (as well as the dedication of their parents and instructors)... not the age.
Cute though they are, I have to agree with those saying that it is too early to start training karate at that age.
In our club we have a lower age limit of 7, i.e. normally kids can start training the year they turn 7. Then they are old enough to actually learn and not just play.
@nsande In contrast, the old tradition in Japan is for a child to start martial arts on the 5th day of the 5th month of their year. Many of the old masters started this way. It's interesting how various countries and cultures have different views on such things.
You think it's cute. You all think it's so cute. But when they come in at 6:30 in the morning and drop a knee on your bladder while you're still asleep, you'll think twice about giving them extra training!
only a dojo place that needs money desperately accepts toddlers learning karate that young I say how are they going to go up against in a tournament ??...

@rory0971 It's not the kids fault. It's the instructors who allow it to happen
