Andrew should read the story "The Rooster and the Tortoise" from Malachi Martin's book HOSTAGE TO THE DEVIL.

Unfortunately, he's just repeating the same mistakes Dr. Carl did, in his evolutionary studies into higher states of consciousness.

Ultimately, the outcome is the same for Andrew as it was for Carl: psycho-spiritual entrapment. The laughter of Andrew reminds me of the mocking spirit that held Carl.

I wonder if the same demonic spirit that possessed Carl possesses Cohen?

What if the celebration of consciousness (of course, by conscious beings) is a self- congratulatory exercise, fetishizing an event no more important than the formation of mould on a plate of food ?

From light and energy to matter to life to consciousness...

"Cephalization" (brain growth) is the trend of biological development, so the concept of consciousness expanding, as well, would accompany the development of the matrices (neuronal matter) where awareness can root.

"Unconsciousness" may be as vital for survival, at times (sleep, etc.) as awareness, because of the rhythmic nature of energy.

Relaxing from the intensity of "consciousness", in effect, may keep us from burning out..

Hmmm, so the human species is the first stepping stone of matter's consciousness? Why then would it not be self-protective? Climate change, nuclear war could destroy the plan. It's pretty guaranteed that the planet and its inhabitants will be destroyed by an asteroid hit within 60000 years. There are unanswered questions, but this seems to crazy an answer.

Actually he is saying something latent in all spiritual traditions - Vedanta, Kabbalah, Sufism etc etc - plus he is talking about ALL the Matter in the Universe becoming Conscious, not just us. We are part of it. Thus even if we wipe ourselves out, the process will continue in some other way, just as the Universe will. If you apply the the Principle of Conservation of Energy to Consciousness then you will see what he means. NB I am not agreeing with him, just trying to get what he is saying.

Consciousness is above the dualistic ideas of more or less. This video shows great ignorance . Only a human imagination could think that freedom and love lies in some concept of all matter becoming conscious in some imaginary future. It's already full and complete except in Andrews mind.
