awesome video series. thanks for sharing. can you show how to replace the mouse touch pad and where to get it? can you tell me the most ram can be installed and what kind? also i have a 60gb hd what is biggest i can put in and what kind? i am disabled and can't afford to buy new computer so need to fix this one. hope you can help me and maybe where i can get some parts used since my income is very low. hope to hear from you asap.
@rzimmer1 Thanks, as far as taking it apart, I currently don't have it (gave it to a family member to use until they get a new computer). If I remember correctly, you can access the touch pad by taking off the top case. It can accept up to 2 gb DDR memory. The hard drive is up to as large as you want to go...no limit.
You can find a lot of parts for it off of ebay (hp and anywhere else will overcharge you). For now, you can hook up a usb mouse to get it to work.
@CreativeThinking1 Yes, but there are a few differences between your dv series and the ze series. They have almost the same exact design, but thanks to the dv series having an upgraded motherboard with a card reader a few things will be different. I haven't had the chance to disassemble a dv series yet, but from the photos I've seen, it shouldn't be much different than the disassembly seen here.
P.S. There are multiple parts to this video, just keep checking the video responses on each one!
Just commented the last video in the series, but, decided to drop one on here too.
Thanks a ton for putting this up here, especially in such a short span of time. Everything was easily understandable, and even with the few minor things (like the parts where some of it was out of frame.) someone with little to no knowledge could follow with out a problem!
I did, but my brother broke it again......I took this one back and gave him my older dell c610. He has broken 2 laptops so far, one he burned up the video card in and this one he kept dropping and breaking the dc adapter. If he breaks the dell he is just SOL.
This was an EXCELLENT video sir!! great work!!! Thank you very much!!

@AkASoMe100 Did you connect everything back.....hard drive, ribbon cables for keyboard and other connections ?
Usually when you hear beeping and nothing else it's the processor, ram or hard drive.
