I both loved and hated this boss. I always found it difficult, mainly from the Confusion and such, and until my 3rd(?) playthrough, I didn't know about Kyrie. But on my 3rd play, I knew about it, and decided to have some fun with this guy >:D I used Kyrie on him to own him.

I fought him the hard way not once, but twice, so I naturally wanted to try the easy way and just pwn him.

Something interesting by the way: In the german version of BoF3 the dragon zombie's name has been shorted to "Dr.Zombi" instead of "D.Zombie". That's why me and my friends always used to call him "Doctor Zombie" ;)

I actually used a healing move on this guy and he actually HEALED! So i was then stuck fighting him normally. Took about 15 minutes, I didnt't mind though because the battle theme is absolutely AMAZING!

Isn't the entrance of this boss super cool? Disembodied voice echos, pool of blood forms on the ground and grows in size and BAM! Dragon zombie apperas. This is such a great game. A shame the series is dead atm. Screw Final Fantasy and Star Ocean and crud like that, give us another old school BoF!

It's Myria, it's always Myria talking when the darkness comes...she's a goddess, she's the only one who would be able to do such a thing along with Deis. The girl though is left a mystery, that's not Myria but resembles a female dragon clan member from the past.

@operations1000 The one saying "No, you must not hate" is not Myria tho. It is that Dragon clan woman we see. Going by the other games she most likely is the ghost of Ryu's mother or sister even if she is not named specifically so, just like the voice commin from the big dragon bones in the very start of the game in this same mine.

That part seems extremely debatable but Dragon Zombie (or the collective spirit voices of dragons) say 'she has no right...' and calls the voice 'reviled one..why must you always interfere?' A former dragon clan member (or even Ryu's family member) cannot directly interfere as they're all dead spirits. Myria is alive. Besides no one in Ryu's family would be 'reviled'...err actually hmm his sister might. You do have a point.

i play it on pc, and ps. but ive been a vg hacker for a long time, so it really wasnt that hard to find the stats of monsters in a playstation game XD ESPECIALLY on the computer. and i go into the codings, find out what changes when i die, when the monsters die, and narrow it down from there. even find out what spells to change from the bosses. XD i can make the chimera use evil eye, or dragon zombie use lightning, etc etc.

but it's simple, so i can just use something like cheatengine, to debug and shit to change stats. but the scripting for what the monsters use to attack (ex. the percentage that myria uses evil eye, or holocaust) or the percentage of what the monsters drop, or even the power and element of a weapon is a little more difficult to find. so i do that manually.

well, ive tried low level, and weak weapons. kinda did no masters (like accidentally using a weak char w/no skills vs elder and d.lord, but that's about it), but i havent done no armor yet. O_o that's gonna be interesting as hell. xD i might combine it with no masters, to make it insanely hard. but just for the challenge of kicking some ass. =O if i succeed, ill try all of that shit together, and try to win (even tho im sure ill die neway. XDD)

but as i stated with my other comment, i LOVE a challenge, so this was one of my favorite battles, and at the same time, one of my most hated. xD like yu, i did NOT use kyrie, cause at that point, it would take away any challenge at all. i even sometimes hack the game, giving the enemies higher power and such, maybe more life/def too, like i do with all my games when i get bored XD

this guy was definately not my longest fight (my longest was probably myria or dragon lord, since i love the challenge of myria's venom/holocaust, and teepo's overwhelming power, so i let the fight drag on, to see how long i can last) but this one here, was definately my most frustrating. fucking bone dance almost ALWAYS hit BOTH my characters with confusion, which at that point they'd end up killing eachother.

I always thought the blue haired girl might have been Deis's Spirit (She sides with the Dragons anyway), but now I know that's actually the beautiful, angelic White Dragon Mother of the first or second Ryu. ^^

There's like a Ryu and Nina in every game, just like Link and Zelda, who may or may not even be the same one we all know and love. :)

Though Sonic and Mario are probably the same ones we know after all these years. :(

Really, this guy is fun to fight but pretty hard... Freaking Bone move that causes Confusion, a Poison attack, and you only have Two Near-Physical only characters to use, Ryu and Garr.

I love the weird talking thing too like they did for V: Dragon Quarter... Ryu in V was like Cloud in FFVII. 0_o

Did you know?

If you learn the skill "Kyrie" from Hondara before Ryu & Garr's fight in Angel Tower, you'll be able to kill the Dragon Zombie in 1 hit guaranteed. Alternatively you can just level up Garr enough to learn his ability Kyrie, works all the same.

I think the only thing I haven't been able to do yet is find those secret items in the Desert. x_x I recently got exact directions where to get them though...I just haven't been bothered yet haha

I got my revenge on this guy in my re-run through the game. 2 hits instead of like 30+ . lvl 24 & 19 respectively. Focus, Last Resort, Beserk, Shadowwalk / Super Combo just shouldn't exist lol..way too cheap stacked...woulda been more damage if Nina was there with War Shout too :P

Nah Ryu from BoF2 is long gone. This game is 1.5 ish thousand years after..the only one that's alive is Deis (Bleu) and of course Myria is revived from the first one.

It indeed was Myria that the Zombie Dragon was talking to. "Reviled one" means someone who spreads negative information about something which Myria did to the dragons (twice). He also states "Why do you always restrain us?" which Myria does.

Still no clue who the dragon lady is that gives you Fusion though..

This guy is so gonna get it on my replay...I'm not gonna Kyrie him cuz that's just gay but he's gonna pay. I'm gonna be so overleveled and use a fire property weapon and fire spear (I think Garr gets that before this point?) and everything! Him & Myria are definately going down easier this time..oh and that damn Angler fish too - won't bring Nina this time I guess.

This guy is so fucking hard! Or just fucking annoying..most annoying boss EVER with his damn bone dance. I got mad at Garr for killing this A-hole. Took me like 20 minutes to beat him! I didn't think of flame one, I used Eldrich and Restored him. Did more DPT but only able to sustain that for 3 turns so the rest of the battle was painful. Thanks for the tip for next run!!

Don't really need kyrie to defeat this guy, just be cautious of his status attacks. Get to some dragon form, can't remember, that has restore and you'll see urself doing a massive 500 per turn on this nuisance fighter. :)

Yeah when I first fought this boss I was so unprepared, under leveled and I didn't heal up, but now when I play he's so easy since I know he's coming.

agreed, the music has more of an impact when Ryu has control over the situation.

Kyrie being an instant kill and Holy attacks doing massive damage (Healing spells, Holy Knife, etc.) I would equip status resistence things and innoculations to resist status illnesses. Being Poison is bad news and is a wasted move when your near completely resistant to it.

Ryu uses Rejuvenate on Dragon Zombie, it was super-effective!

I found this boss easy compared to most others. I beat him with a lvl 18 Ryu i think and lvl 14 Garr. Garr also died at the begginning but he couldnt do much anyway so i didnt revive him

Kyrie for a quick one hit kill... or go about your own methods. Garr naturally learns Kyrie at some point and then there's that Hondara priest who teaches the move.

I beat this battle about 3 hours ago. My lvls were higher and i had barbarossa for ryu, but i spent most of my AP training and making money before blowing the rock up. i used pyro with garr and thunder whelp with ryu. bone dance is annoying as hell. great game. hard to believe it's 10 years old.

Most of you posters need to understand HE DOESN'T PLAY TO MAKE THE GAME EXTREMELY EASY. Yeah theres cheap and easy ways to win each fight. Cyril is very good at this game, HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING, and doesn't need you people coaching him on how to play. Shut up and watch the video, and don't try to preach/teach him how to play. Use Shield a few times.. his attacks becomes very weak to you (so do teammate attacks). If you really are weak with character, just survive for as long as u can, after awhile, he runs outa AP for his bone dance... Than go open season on him ^^

When it came to this fight, it litterally took 20 minutes to fininsh because of our low understanding of the game and the Zombie property. That damn bonedance! That fight was so hard yet AWSOME at the same time! That's why I made sure both Ryu and Garr were at level 20 or so. Just remember to train your characters a little more Cyril.

It has exactly 2,500 HP. I know this because I found a way to kill the Dragon Zombie before it even attacks. I have Garr train under the Urkan Priest then battle at Mt. Zublo until Garr is taught Kyrie. Transfer that to Ryu. And you're all set. For an even more likely chance of moving before D.Zombie. Unequip all of your armour. Kyrie will kill it instantly. Boss or not it's still a zombie.

Another way to find out an enemies HP is to use Backhand and add up all the total damage keeping track of everything as it happens.

Kyrie is a skill Garr learns at level 25 if I'm not mistaken, then there's also the master at urkan tapa whom will teach it as well.

For this boss, I think it's pretty cheap to use Kyrie as the attacks are somewhat diverse allowing for damage in different ways, bone dance, poison breath, and normal attack.
