  • It just sounds EXACTLY like the Lionel version! Well, not the horn though - the K5HL horn or something... Gr8 video too! :)

  • The Lionel has the MTH beat bad - no comparison at all. Metal versus plastic - easy call.

  • @rightman220 Right now I'd agree.

  • The ES44AC is nicely detailed

I wish MTH would get out of the box and do more horn variety for different locomotives.

Im gonna order one in either the GE Demo or BNSF scheme for my husky stack set

  • It'd be nice if they made some really off the wall stuff, but they are a company and they're in it to make money and going too far outside the box increases their risk. In this economy especially, I wouldn't expect any train makers to be doing anything too risky....except for Lionel because they are crazy (coming out with a line of ultra expensive trains in the middle of a recession).

  • @esiegel76 I totally agree with you Eric!

  • Nice unit and video, but would it kill MTH to put a Nathan K5HL horn and E-Bell on them?

  • I know right? Thats the best part with the ES44AC's!

  • My favorite Class 1 railroad! Go CP!

  • Fantastic presentation and operation!

Looking forward to how the layout evolves, also!

Envious is not big enough a word for what you've got

    on there.

    Happy railroading!

  • Nice looking units and cars! 5/5

  • do the rail joints connecting atlas track bother you?

  • No. I've found the joints to be smooth and trouble free. The track joiners are easy to use and the insulating joiners come in handy for power blocks. The only thing I don't like about Atlas track, and it's not really a big problem, is that the ties are plastic so you have to be careful when/if you solder any track connections. Other than that, I've been very pleased with Atlas track and I would choose to use it again if I had it to do over.

  • Cool video, part of my real world job is to connect and disconnect covered 4 bay hoppers. Sometimes when we have an unvented car I have to climb up on top of it and open the top hatches. Its a long way down from up there.

  • Right on!

  • Did you recently get that?

  • Yeah, about 4 days ago.

  • Where? Like what store?

  • I get most of my MTH stuff, including this engine, from a store in Winson-Salem, NC called The Train Loft.

  • I was just about to order this CP loco last night when I had to say ENOUGH to myself.

You're still young so go for it!

The weathering looks great, but I wondered if it affects their resale value. I could use chalks alone, I suppose.

Are you sure you aren't a member of some HUGE model railroad club? Your collection is enormous!

Best MTH sales promo yet! :-)

  • Thanks. Yeah, it probably effects the resale value, but I'm not planning on ever selling these things so I'm not really worried about it. Glad you like it!

  • Verry cool! Nice weathering job on those cars!
