  • Never heard anybody call it the Vicky Line before. I guess we had the 'wrong kind of reporter' on this news item. Does this mean I have to use the Piccy and the Hammy & City Lines from now on? I guess if they do a stock move, a train from the Vicky could end up at Ricky, on the Met. 'When Ricky Met Vicky'...now that might be a good film!

  • they are fast but..MY GOD THE SEATS ARE SO ANNOYING

  • The new trains are much nicer. I've been on about 3.

  • usually on the 1967 stock from brixton 2 stockwell it would take me 5 minutes but on da new fleet it takes me between 50 seconds and 2 mintues to get there

  • Hate those new victoria trains. My favourite 1980's stock Victoria line is best! Why been replace these again what could be waste! Many people love them very much too, unfortunately I don't those new one sorry.

  • @NESTABROWN9 why did you say that to the new victoria line train?

  • @NESTABROWN9 Well new Victoria line these is problem bit small fit tight of space to entry walk way the train of course is unfortunately that not my favourite anyway folks. I use the 1938 Victoria line stock more space normal than bit too tight of space small room enough really. Sorrry!...

  • i love the 67stock`s red face

  • i love the 2009 the stock but it needs air

  • Hahahaha Vicky Line, that made me smile ^_^

  • Couple of points about these new trains: 1) Why are they not open all the way through like the new East london line trains? That is the best way to increase capacity, no ends and doors between carriages! 2) Cool air pumped into the train from the tunnel outside - the air in the tunnels is filthy! nice to have dirty air full of nasty particles blowing in your face.

  • The train..is good i been on it but..the seats are fucking annoying..it hurs ur but

  • They seem to have finally put them in service . I was on one last Thursday 18th March . Although I doubt they will all be running for awhile yet if there are 49 to be replaced . Will be interesting to see if the new air cooling makes any difference in the heat of the summer .

  • Wow, watching this video has changed my opinion of the underground...slightly. I know it sux when there are delays and suspensions, but engineering is very difficult and hot.

  • You are going to miss the current trains?? Some peoples views are just unfathomable.

  • These trains have arrived the first one is now in service I got it today from kings cross to oxford circus its really cool.

  • another ugly modern train. And whats with these new trains interiors, they have loads of bits sticking out all over the place for you to bang your head on. The older ones seemed to have more headroom. I'm always clumping my dome on these new trains

  • I know the city is north of the river, I wounder why they never ran the tubes out onto the above ground rail routes through south london. At the moment you have to get on mainline trains, its well covered but a hassle when you get to waterloo you have to change and during rush hour that can be very busy. I guess it would be expensive to put down tube rails but I would of thought that metro & district style underground trains could run on them, south london trains run on electric tracks.

  • I live that stock hope it will open on BVE ;)

  • Does it have air con?

  • yes, very nice air con

  • Looking very forward to this. I go to London in October, and i will be using the Victoria line, so i may get to ride it.

  • not yet. i think they well be used starting 2010.

  • NO! I love the 1967 stock, it may be bumpy and old, but it is quite fast and they have character!

  • Comment removed

  • the 2009 stock looks like the 1992 stock.

  • nooo i've grown up with the old stock! they made such a unique sound compared to the other trains on the underground! I feel like a part of me is being thrown away T.T

  • Is it the same with bakerloo line?

  • i'm not actually sure

  • The 1972 MkI/MkII Stock on the Bakerloo is externally near-identical to the 1967 Stock on the Victoria. They even have the same motors, though there are a few technical differences (the main difference being a lack of ATO equipment on the former).

  • You usually only get fumes from plastic if it is burned. And the plastic on the train is probably not flammable. Please think before you type in the future, kthx.

  • I will miss the 1967 stock, they were quite fast, but the only problem of the 1967 stock was the announcer system (very low sound), and the heating, its usually cold in the 1967 stock.

But this is the future... One day in our life, all the lines would have all those new stocks. We wont get the 1967 stock back, Never! :(

  • how can they be longer? the carriages might be longer, but that means less carriages in total, unless the platforms are going to be lengthened.

and sure, more space! more standing space that is! what about more seats! the bendy bus proved that point, you can get loads of people on, but none can get off because they are all bloody standing in the way of the doors. air con? that will pack up in a few weeks, thats if the driver turns it on-they tend to get winter and summer mixed up!

  • They'll be marginally longer because they will take up the extra space at the ends of the platforms. How an earth will seats make the trains less crowded? You'd have to be thick (which you are) to think that someone sitting down will take up less space than someone standing up... Also, fewer seats means that the movement of pasengers is easier and quicker reducing dwell times at the station. Finally, the new trains don't have air conditioning just a better forced ventilation system.

  • haha, what a shame you had to let yourself down with your aggressive behaviour (juding by your comments) ironically your the sort of person the commuter is sick of. if you calmed down and read my COMMENT (not personal slang match) properly you would have understood that i was saying us passengers would like more seats, not standing space & not for a second did i suggest seats will make a train less crowded. passengers want a seat on a train, not cramp on a cattle truck, you, need a head check.

  • The thing you've missed out, is that I made the assumption that you wouldn't be stupid enough to unrealisticly desire that LU had seats for all. I'm aggressive because i'm sick of people expecting unrealistic things from a high frequency *high capactity* metro system, when they are completely ignorant of how and why they function. So, instead of complaining and expecting everyone else to come up with the solutions, would you like to explain how you think LU can give 'seats to all'?

  • I can't wait for it to come out

  • Me neither, but I'd be more enthusiastic about them if we could keep all the 1967 stock!

  • there ok .But the 1967 stock looks better and faster.

  • Faster? You wait until the 2009 stock is actually in service with the new signalling system, then you'll see how quick the new trains really are.

  • Why has this comment received so many thumbs downs? Is it because it's true? Some people just want to live in a fantasy land where LU is full of antiqued trains that are never replaced to please the trainspotters. Face it, the 1967ts and the A Stock are passed their sell by dates and should be replaced.

  • Yeah I want to see the tube go into the 21st century. And this is a start.

  • The 2009 Stock is not very fast. But the fastest today we have is for the Metropolitan Line, but thyey are also going to get replaced by the new S Stock in 2010.

  • The point I implicitly made earlier is that the 2009 Stock will be *faster* than the 1967 Stock when the new signalling system is in place.

The A Stock is indeed the fastest of the LUL stock (as I imagine the S Stock will be once introduced) but on the northern stretches of the Victoria line, the 1967/2009 Stock [isn't/won't be] significantly slower.

  • Furthermore (according to TfL), journey times will decrease and frequencies will increase with the new signalling system, meaning that trains can run closer together and a little faster too.

I'm genuinely intrigued as to why you and wangtong04 believe the 1967 Stock will still be faster, I can see nothing to support that stance.

  • The Piccadilly Line will get new trains in 2014, called as Tube Stock 2014. It is currently under construction, it was announced in May 2009, this month!

The Bakerloo Line will get new trains in 2018 or 2019, called Tube Stock 2018.

  • The Picc line new stock has not even been designed yet and isn't under construction.

  • I've never heard that the Piccadilly Line will have new trains. Give me a link/source (message me)

  • We seem to be confusing each other.

You said previously new Picc line trains are under construction, I just corrected you in that fact that they haven't even designed the new Picc line trains yet, so they aren't under construction.

The trains now under construction are the S Stock for the Met, Circle, H&C and District lines.

The first S stock train for the Met line arrived at Neasden Depot last week and will enter service early next year after testing.

  • There was once a Wikipedia article that said that there will be a new Piccadilly Line tube stock, but the article was deleted soon by admins.

I think the creater of the article was only lying.

  • Wikipedia is written by it's users and is not always accurate.

There will be new Picc line stock. It hasn't been designed yet though.

  • Air Conditioning? It's about time!!! I was in London in July of 2006, and most of those trains felt like ovens

  • They look cool. Can't wait to be on on. Since I ride on the Victoria line almost every day.

  • :( damn it! no! I ride on the Central line. Oh well, one line at a time eh.

  • Rubbish train, old one much better.

  • they look nice!

  • NOOOO! I LOVE the 1967 stock may be bumpy and old but it is quite fast and there have character

  • Comment removed

  • @MediaFetishnetwork08 Well dosent the Bakerloo line have the same trains? Although probably not the same

  • @lindsaymobil22 The same upgrade is gonna happen on the Bakerloo line. They have not started on the Bakerloo line yet because they are going to finish on the Victoria line first.

  • @BigFoot8336

The bakerloo line lol Always seems like it is going to fall off the track when im on it lolz.

  • @MediaFetishnetwork08 gone now...

  • I'm actually going london next year in april, and i would sure love to go on the 1967 stock before it retires, that would sure be a memorable experience :)

  • The 2009 Stock will be coming here in the Victoria Line this year, so you better hurry to go to London. It could come here any day.

  • And? Have you seen the 1967 Stock?

  • I actually like the 1967 stock.. they soundlike tube trains with proper DC traction motors and camshaft controllers... none of yer yukky AC motors and strange UFO sounds like the Jubilee line stock... maybe I'm getting old... The metadyne is dying!

  • i may get a thumbs down for this but i agree i love the 67 stock i love that old smell you get on the platforms the tube is fine as it is the only thing they need to replace is the track and signalling (for saftey reasons of corse)

  • i like the smell on the underground trains

  • 0:56 & 1:10 do they have the same name?lol

  • lol nice spot

  • With the ventilation problems on the Victoria Line, they could switch off the carriage heating in the summer. Put your hand on the silver metal panels below the seats and you will find them to be quite hot in many of the carriages.

  • The Vic line's 67 stock are supposed to have all the heater fuses permanently removed now, so if you notice a car on, that fuse is still on and has been missed.

  • How recently was this done as there seems to be a lot of carriages with heaters on, even when the ventilator fans are working.

  • This was done two or three years ago, to alleviate the heat build up in the tunnels. So in theory there should be very few if any carriages with heaters on. The fact that you have discovered heating on is an indication poor maintenence from Metronet.

  • OMFG NOOOOOO they can't change the victoria line trains!!!!

I love the ones we have now so much, the look, the sound everything! noooooo T_T

  • i hate the new trains! theyre so boring they need to bring back that crazy old school orange upholstery they used on the trains and buses and the wood floors ftw

  • this is a very cool stock, its alot like the central line, i think all lines should have this shape stock, its bigger, good looking and still able to run in the deep tube tunnels. too bad this new stock won't be seen alot, because the victoria line never emerges overground.

  • One of these for a sub- surface stock would be unnesacery.

  • 2009 stock was supposed to be here by 2005

  • LOL they got them to walk side by side in the middle of the car so that it looks more spacious

  • noooooooooooooo i like the 1967 stock

  • how the fuck can u like the 1967 stock, its old, tatty and the rest. They always break down the victoria line has a problem almost everyday because of a faulty train. Also the wheels are so fucked that it feels like the train is about to derail every second (even though that is common on all underground lines).

  • The 1967 was quite fast and is very good. but it is very unsecurable (dangerous).

I was one day in the Victoria Line, and the 1967 stock doesn't have good security. The driver opened the door that faces not the platform, but the rails! That is very dangerous!

The new trains have better security, if you open the wrong door, the train will warn you that it is the wrong door.

But still... The 1967 Stock is great!

  • Yeah the guy was sacked, but seriously if the wrong door opens you would realise yes?

  • dont worry hopefully some will be preserved

  • i apologise for sounding so blunt but it is true. Underground need to invest in metal fencing or alternatively electric fencing to make it hard for the vandals.

  • there is plenty in depots and trackside but you are right they could have more like remember christmas day

  • that will just be another targe for graffiti vandals

  • The main problem with the 1967 tube stock trains and the high temperatures in carriages is that in the summer many of the heaters are still switched on. Even in the winter the trains can be over-heated. Metronet need to check the heater contactors and thermostats.

Also the removal of tunnel dust should be routine and not allowed to build up. Have they not learnt from the lessons of cutting back on house keeping and the Kings Cross fire.

  • tons of human hair and skin - that goes under the heading of too much news

  • 3 YEARS!! please bring them in quicker than that!

  • Can't wait for these new trains to come into action, the ones running now are rickety and unbearable during rush hour!!!

  • whats so unbearable about them? The new trains won't be any less crowded by the way!

  • I meant because in rush hour during the summer months, they can be hot and sweaty and I find it quite an unpleasant experience. As the new stock are due to have air conditioning, they won't be like saunas in the summer thus making it a little more comfortable - although yes you are correct, we'll still be like sardines!!!

  • The new stocks won't have air-conditioning, they'll have better forced ventilation. It'll be like travelling on the Northern or Jubilee lines which both have modern rolling stock, i.e. not much cooler!

  • Yes they will, the new trains will have much more advanced signaling so they will run more frequently and thus will be less crowded.

  • Didn't they say that about the Central line when it was re-signalled? Any capacity will be quickly gobbled up.

  • lovely train, id like to be the one test driving it

  • Human hair and skin, yum yum.

  • Why? If you travel on the tube thats what goes up your nose and throat!

  • And there's no fucking reason to be fucking rude 2 weeks later, is there you fucking prick!

  • Brake dust is made up of hair, skin and brake block material containing rubber silicates and wood fibre.

  • Can wait for videos about them in action
