I used the pinguin suite and the star to get us past the first coin...you need to get to the ? box that is right after the first coin, once you get the first coing it's a little easier to get to the ice stage. I would get the first coin and finish, save before you try for the other two coins

@Puchdriver There are secret levels in 2 of the worlds. 7 and 5, maybe? I can't remember. You have to get all the star coins in those 2 levels as well.

Okay, so pro tips, Use fire the fire flower power balls BEHIND you, kill the Fire Bros at all costs, jump to regain control over your momentum, and duck to get under the piranha plants. Yeah, I can see how that kinda gets around the main obstacles of this level.

Wow, you're good. The last two Star Coins of this stage were the the last two that I collected in the whole game. I didn't even bother jumping down to get the third Star Coin. It was easier for me to use an Ice Flower (despite how difficult it is to go through most of the stage without getting hit, even by starting out with a Starman), freeze the Fire Brother, and chuck him into the Star Coin.

I can get to the second coin with my fire flower no problem. i get there fast then I get the coin fast, but then the ice blocks are shot away and I cant run without falling...**** the guy who made this level. U just have to be patiente at this one, and most of the people are not so thats why they keep saying its hard. I actually found 9-4 harder then this because in 9-4 u have to have great timing. This part is the most difficult in all of New super Mario. (I think.) I tried many times, but failed many times. Finally, I use such solution to get the last star coin: press the 2 player, using another one player which also has 99 lifes. In the ending, I let the player to jump and get the last coin. Of cousre this player 2 had to die at once. But as Player 1 is still alive therefore the game could be running coutinue.

Great Job man. 9-7 is tough as nails. I did it in the Penguin suit. For star #2 I froze and grabbed the last spikey Goomba shell and killed all of the Plants coming from the top on the long ice bridge and wait for the plants below to melt it to get to the star. Star #3 I froze and killed the first Fire Bros. and let the second thaw out the ice above the star and then froze him and threw him at the star to get it...good times.

terribly difficult level. I found the best way to grab the coins, especially the last one was to use a star and helicopter mario. Run through the beginning as fast as possible, star should wear off right before you get to ice bridge. after sliding under the piranha plants helicopter over the fire ball guys and then knock them off after they have melted the ice over the last star coin, then wall jump down and helicopter back up. it took me about 50 attempts to get it. But finally last night!

@roylucier There was a moment when I played this game myself when I had 4 for the longest time, until I played a level, and then got the 5th one.

Basically, make sure you play your levels carefully. I had to clear ONE level the normal way ('cause I guess I only cleared it the secret way), and that was it.

I promise you, that's how you do it. Play every level in the game again if you have to.
