@mrgeebaby86 yeah pinkie's always been trouble for me but in the past yr I've been utilizing it a little more frequently...I usually improv when I'm jammin' or on my own but I wanted to do a close-to-exact rendition of the song's bassline, na mean
@metalhead476 wen u play D8-9, 9-8, every 2nd one wen u hit D9 slide down the D string from there twice. sometimes in the song its not every second time (like after the bit where bizarre breaks it down) lol. just listen out for it haha
the reason that you got so much mistakes wasn't cause lack of experience(all though that contributed) but it was because your fingering was wrong (gotta use that pinky man :) gj though
yeah...I have always had terrible fingering when it comes to playing the bass. Weak secondary fingers (ring/pinkie), so I end up subconsciously trying to make up for that by using my index and middle fingers more often than I should.
He's totally correct about this song in his description. I learned how to play this song on guitar. It's a good song to warm-up with but it can make your hand tired easily :P.
i like this bass line, the guy below is right though, the beginning note is indeed wrong, its like 1 fret over or somethin probably. I just know its not the same note for the first 2, i want to pick up a bass just to play bass lines pce.
Exactly my point. There are all kinds of different ways to play a bass, just as there are to play a guitar.
And "serves the music better" is an opinion, and also dependent on genre. Primus would not have been anywhere near as successful if it was primarily about the guitar and not the bass.
And if we're talking technically here, the bass is not a rhythm instrument, the drums are.
It's the first note of the phrase. The first two notes you are playing are the same when the first note should actually be a tone higher. It's the part where Eminem sings the "So you". It's an F# on the "So" and an E on the "you" whereas you are playing E on both. If you listen to the track, you should be able to hear that the notes are different.

i'll have to test it out then
the tab i learned it from had the first two notes being the same but i never really picked it up on the song itself that the notes were different

bass is a laugh. its all about keeping rythm.
l0ly0un00b 2 years ago
excuse me, but les claypool, victor wooten, jaco pastorius and bootsy collins would all beg to differ.
metalhead476 2 years ago
yeah but those are different kinda bassists. they mastered playing a thousand notes really fast.
fuck that, playing with tight rhythm usually serves the music better.
the bass is a rhythm instrument anyway, so they probably wouldnt 'beg to differ'

You are playing one note incorrectly. Other than that, not a bad effort

niiiiiiiice. i been learning some D12 myself, there basslines are kinda funky..
WOLVOSTONER 3 years ago
yeah, a lot of the lines from Devil's Night are pretty solid; D12 World doesn't have too much though :3
metalhead476 3 years ago
i dunno they got some cool ones like you are the one, but alot of them are hard to sound the same on a real bass cuz most of them are on a keyboard!
